Rachel A. Reader Moody, 81, of Bristol Tennessee, died April 2, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Concord, N.C., had lived in the Bristol area for the past 63 years, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Woodmen of the World, and a member and the organist at Volunteer Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A.P. Moody of Bristol Tennessee; three daughters, Noreen Megelin of Los Angeles, Anne Davis of Atlanta, and Beth Leonard of Bristol Tennessee; a son, Richard Moody of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Lucy J. Quillen

ST. PAUL -- Lucy J. Robinson Quillen, 94, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Wise County, a member of Assembly of God Church in St. Paul, and the widow of Louie L. Quillen Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Ruth Henegar of St. Paul; three sons, Kenneth Quillen of Grafton, Wis., Paul Quillen of St. Paul, and Bill Quillen of Colonial Heights, Va.; a sister, Ethel Lyttle of St. Paul; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge.

Fayrene C. Ray

HONAKER -- Fayrene Compton Ray, 66, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in a Grundy hospital.
She was a native of Drill, Va., had lived most of her life in the Honaker area and was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
She was the widow of George Ray.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Barrett of Caretta, W.Va., Janet Deskins and Aleta Murray, both of Jeffersonville, N.C.; six sons, Jerry Ray of Iaeger, W.Va., Randal Ray of Bishop, Va., Roger Ray of Toledo, Ohio, Ronny Ray of North Carolina, Ricky Ray of Pounding Mill, Va., and Rexley Ray of Davenport, Va.; five sisters, Drapier Dye of Vinton, Va., Inez Austin of Honaker, Janet Fuller of Lebanon, Judy Osborne of Cedar Bluff, and Edna May of Drill; four brothers, Kinzer Compton of Venia, Va., Foster Compton, Sidney Compton and Harold Compton, all of Honaker; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Edna Gill Roberts, 90, of 409 Valley Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, April 2, 1999, in Wellmont Hospice House.

Bobby Lee Tolbert Sr.

Bobby Lee Tolbert Sr., 62, of 229 Bear Hollow Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a former construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Tolbert; a daughter, Barbara Ann Greer of Bristol Tennessee; four sons, Steve Tolbert and Ricky Moore Tolbert, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Bobby Lee Tolbert II and Gary Tolbert, both of Bluff City; a stepson, Billy Gene Brown of Bristol Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Brown of Bristol Tennessee; two sisters; two brothers; 19 grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.

Patricia R. Collins

WISE -- Patricia Ruth "Pat" Collins, 56, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was a member and choir director of Guest River Pentecostal Church, a homemaker, and office manager for Wise Mental Health Clinic.
She was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Collins; two sons, Stephen L. Collins and Douglas E. Collins, both of Wise; her mother, Dasie Marie Bevins of Wise; two brothers, Goffery E. Bevins and Fred A. Bevins, both of Wise; a sister, Betty Sue Jones of Wise; and two grandchildren.

Amanda M. Darnell

GILES COUNTY, Va. -- Amanda Marie Darnell, 80, of the Gold Bond Community, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Narrows, Va.
She was a native of Washington County, Va.
She attended the Gold Bond Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include four sons, Virgil Darnell of Ripplemead, Garnet Darnell and Gary Darnell, both of Gold Bond, and Larry Darnell of Waiteville, W.Va.; three daughters, Elizabeth Tharp and Dorothy Thornton, both of Baltimore, and Charlene Cales of Narrows; a brother, Frank Puckett of Sidney, Ohio; three sisters, Willie Jackson of Saltville, Pearl Compton of Glade Spring, and Pauline Church of Burlington, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Pembroke, Va.

BLOUNTVILLE -- Mellissia Ruth Harwood Dove, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

MARION -- Howard R. Farrington, 79, died Monday, April 5, 1999.

Garret K. Franks

CENTERLINE, Mich. -- Garret K. Franks, 83, formerly of Coeburn, died Friday, April 2, 1999, in a Warren, Mich., hospital.
He was a native of Coeburn and a retired press operator for Chrysler Corporation in Warren, where he had lived for the past 49 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Warren.
Mr. Franks was a graduate of Coeburn High School, attended Emory & Henry College and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was the widower of Viola Vance Franks.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert J. (Brenda) Fischer of Centerline and Mrs. Edward (Janice) Wojcik of Newport Richie, Fla.; a stepson, William H. Pendleton of Knoxville; two brothers, Harvey Franks of Berryville, Va., and J.C. Franks of Marion; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Richlands is in charge.

Milam L. Hall

COEBURN -- Milam L. Hall, 67, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in the Norton Community Hospital.
He was a retired employee of the Clinchfield Coal Company and a member of UMWA District 28 and Local No. 1259.
He was a member of the Coeburn Masonic Lodge No. 97 AF&AM, a member of the Saw Mill Hollow Freewill Baptist Church and a Freewill Baptist minister.
Survivors include his wife, Alva Jean "Betty" Hall; two sons, Lesley Steven Hall of Wise, and Dallas Dale Hall of Dungannon, Va.; a daughter, Debra Karen Davis of Coeburn; his mother, Gertrude Hall of Coeburn; five brothers, Joe Hall of Indiana, Henry Lee Hall, David Hall, Charlie Hall and Early Hall, all of Coeburn; a sister, JoAnn Neslin of Florida; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ovie T. James

EASTANOLLEE, Ga. -- Ovie Sally Taylor James, 91, formerly of Inman, Va., died Friday, April 2, 1999, in Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa, Ga.
She was a native of Ozone, Tenn., and the widow of John H. James.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline "Lindy" Swindall of San Diego; four sons, Walter James and Ronald James, both of Big Stone Gap, Emory James of Eastanollee, and John H. James Jr., of Christiansburg, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Holding Funeral Home of Big Stone Gap is in charge.

Robert Jenkins Jr.

NORTON -- Robert Wayne "Bobby" Jenkins Jr., 32, of Kentucky Avenue, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport.
He was a native of Norton and a lifelong resident of the area.
He was a former employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolynn Marie Jenkins of Big Stone Gap; a stepdaughter, Miranda Bellamey of Kingsport, two stepsons, Richard Bellamey and Randy Bellamey, both of Kingsport; his parents, Robert Wayne Sr. and Katie Sturgill Jenkins of Norton; a sister, Rebecca Jenkins of Wise; his paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Bruce and Dora Adams Jenkins of Norton; and several nieces and nephews.
