BIRCHLEAF, Va. -- Funeral services for David "Junior" Deel will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. Elders Paul Varney, Joel Turner, Franklin Viers, Garnell Gilbert, Josh Viers and Price Viers will officiate. Burial will be in A.F. Deel Cemetery, Route 2, Haysi, Va.
Mr. Deel, 70, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be Blaine Deel, Chris Cox, Steve Kuhr, Mike Kuhr, Brian Deel, John Justice, Micheal Swanner and Berlin Justice.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m.

Sue Gilliland
Memorial services for Sue Gilliland will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Salvation Army Church by Weaver Funeral Home. Maj. Larry Hambrick will officiate.
Mrs. Gilliland, 59, of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Charles A. Harris
ABINGDON -- Memorial services for Charles Alexander Harris will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in
Green Spring Presbyterian Church by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. William J. Youmans will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Morganton, N.C.
Mr. Harris, 76, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
The family will have a friends' reception at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church.

Corbet F. Hess
HONAKER -- Corbet Floyd Hess, 84, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2000, in a Lebanon hospital.
He was born in Buchanan County, a son of the late James and Mary Baldwin Hess. He had lived in Honaker since 1962, moving there from Drill. He was a retired coal miner employed with Page-Pocahontas Coal Co. and Clinchfield Coal Co. He was a member of UMWA and of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy
Johnson Hess; a daughter, Mrs. Darnell "Mutt" Helton of Honaker; a son, Isaac Hess of Abingdon; two sisters, Roma Blankenship of Drill and Dorothy Childress of Honaker; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Peerman Lester and Ancil Childress will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Mr. Hess was also preceded in death by a son, James Hurley "Jimmy" Hess; three brothers; and three sisters.
Among survivors are grandchildren Roger Wayne Helton, Tami Helton Cox and Susanna Hess Dowdy.
Pallbearers will be Roy Lothery, Cecil Keen, Homer Nelson, Jeff Miller, Brian
Johnson and Arnold Shepherd.

Marie K. Malone
ABINGDON -- Graveside services fof Marie Kathleen Spiva Malone will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. John Wesley Price will officiate.
Mrs. Malone, 48, died Thursday, Jan. 13,2000, at her home.
Pallbearers will be Marion Spiva, Andy Trent, Jack Malone, Raymond Malone, Marty Holloway and Mike Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashley Malone, James Malone, Gabriella Camper, Keith Malone, Elizabeth Malone, Elizabeth Huggins, Kayla Christian and Austin Holloway.

Ernest F. McIntyre
ATKINS, Va. -- Ernest Franklin McIntyre, 62, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a son of the late Emory McIntyre.
Surviving are three sisters, Betty Stovall of Glade Spring, Dorothy Greer of Marion and Ruby Mae McIntyre of Atkins; three brothers, Clarence McIntyre, Bobby Joe McIntyre and Kenneth McIntyre, all of Atkins; six nieces; five nephews; two great-nieces; and seven great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Marion Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Herman Cress will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

James M. Montgomery
SALTVILLE -- James Michael "Swammie" Montgomery, 40, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000.
He was a son of Odeline Grogg of Saltville and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Tammy Coe Montgomery; a son James Hunter Montgomery of the home; his stepfather, Harold Grogg of Saltville; two brothers, Russell Montgomery and David Montgomery, both of Saltville; a sister, Elizabeth G. Heath of Saltville; two nieces; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home. The Rev. Benny Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Chapman Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael J. Coe, William B. Coe, Joshua B. Coe, Mike Long, Barry Davidson, Keith Pennington and Jeffrey Minton.

Carrie L. Moore
Carrie L. Moore, 90, of 101 Holston View Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Abingdon and had lived in the Bristol area for the past 30 years. She was a housewife, a member of Abingdon Bible Church and the widow of James Allen Moore.
Surviving are three daughters, Bette Kerns of Richmond, Doris Millsap of Avon, N.C., and Ann Miller of Bristol Tennessee; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Burton will officiate. Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Sinking Springs Cemetery in Abingdon.
Mrs. Moore was also preceded in death by a daughter, June Arnold.

Elmo L. Quinley
APPALACHIA -- Elmo Leon Quinley, 85, formerly of Stonega, Va., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000. in the Brian Center Nursing Home in Fincastle, Va.
He was a son of the late John E. and Etta Orpha Quinley and the widower of Caroline Virginia Quinley. He retired from Westmoreland Coal Co. and was employed with the Central Supply Co. until 1984. He was a member of Appalachia First Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, John R. Quinley of Madison, Patrick Quinley of Troutville and William R. Quinley of Asheville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in
Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Roy A.
Green Funeral Home. The Rev. Nick Brewer will officiate. The eulogy will be given by the eldest son, John R. Quinley.
Mr. Quinley was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Quinley and Harry Quinley; and two sisters, Maxie Morell and Hazel Polly.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law, Jill Quinley of Madison and Sherry Quinley of Troutville.

Funeral services for Lorraine Ella
Smith will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Garland will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn.
Mrs. Smith, 74, of 408 Carolina Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Shady Valley, Tenn., and had lived in the Bristol area most of her life. She was a housewife and of the Church of Christ faith.
Surviving are her husband, Rex H. Smith; a daughter, Valerie
Smith of Bristol Tennessee; a son, Harvey E.
Smith of Bristol Tennessee; a brother, Darrell McQueen of Coral Gable, Fla.; two sisters, Delphine Fox of South Carolina and Jewel Hamm of Shady Valley; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs.
Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Lunsford.
Among survivors is a special friend, Larry Feathers.
