SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Regina Carol Smith, 33, of the Pine Creek section, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born in Richlands, a daughter of Raymond and Billie Robinette Meadows of Page. She had lived in Swords Creek for the past 12 years, moving there from Page. She was a 1984 graduate of Garden High School, attended Southwest Virginia Community College and Richlands Beauty Academy. She was a licensed cosmetologist.
Surviving, besides her parents, are her husband, Michael Glenn Smith; two sons, Michael Austin
Smith and Jordan Ryan Smith, both of the home; and two brothers, Jeffery William Meadows and Jamie Dean Meadows, both of Page.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Clyde Rose and Jim Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richands.
Mrs.
Smith was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tanner Smith; a daughter, Faith Nicole Smith; and an infant.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Hess, Jeff Ball, Eugene Elkins, Chester Elkins, Shannon Compton and James Arlie Robinette.

Maggie Stewart
McMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- Maggie Stewart, 60, of 179 Stewarts Lane, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
She was a daughter of the late Willie Clyde Counts and Elsie Dorton Counts. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ at Central.
Surviving are her husband, Derwood Stewart; two daughters, Veronica Stewart and Rhonda Hollard, both of McMinnville; two sons, Chuck Stewart and Brad Stewart, both of McMinnville; six sisters, Lois Barton, Pat Addison and Colleen Sutherland, all of Haysi, Lillian Ratliff and Beulah McKemy, both of Abingdon; and Lema Baker of Clintwood; three brothers, W.C. Counts and Ronnie Counts, both of Haysi and Donnie Counts of Pound; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday in McMinnville.

Thomas H. West
NORTON -- Thomas Harold "Tom" West, 63, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at his home.
He was a son of the late Gordon H. and Hazel Greenway West, co-owner of T & G Discount Outlet and a former coal operator with Titan Coal Co. He was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Air Force peacetime veteran serving in Germany.
Surviving are a son, Brent Channing West of Pound; two daughters, Kimberly W. Lyke of Big Stone Gap and Kriseda W. Grimes of Wise; a sister, Naomi West of Washington College, Tenn; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 7 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise. Pastor Wayne Hager will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Salem Cemetery in Washington College, Tenn., with military rites by Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post 3382 of Kingsport.
Mr. West was also preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Larry West.
Among survivors are Lindsay Bentley, Joshua Thomas Lyke, Leannza Lyke, Channing West and Evan West; and his former wife, Gaye Kiser West of Wise.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home.
Aulden Almaroad
BLOUNTVILLE -- Aulden "Bud" Almaroad, 80, of 237 Almaroad Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Blountville and a son of the late Floyd and Betty Almaroad. He retired from Paul Baker Chevrolet and was a member of Feather's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen Almaroad; a son, Howard Almaroad of Blountville; a daughter, Margaret Witt of Bluff City; six grandchildren, Tim Cross, Aaron Witt, Anna Witt, Angie Federow, Kim Moody and Leslie Almaroad; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Cross, Will Federow and Summer Stanley.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Blountville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in Weaver Funeral Home.
Raymond E. Barker
MARION -- The Rev. Raymond E. Barker, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Francis Marion Manor.
He was born in Grayson County, Va., a son of the late Dencil and Beulah Barker. He was an ordained minister and pastored several churches in Smyth and Grayson Counties. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Signal Corps. He was a lifetime member of Francis Marion VFW Post 4667, where he served as chaplain for more than 10 years. He retired from Brunswick after 27 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Rachel Barker; a son, Rex S. Barker of Marion; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Ruth) Blevins of Marion and Mrs. Joe (Nora) Woods of Sugar Grove, Va.; three sisters; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Bradley's Funeral Home. The Revs. Tim
Williams and Mike Sage will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with military honors by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
Mr. Barker was also preceded in death by a son, Kerry Barker; and three brothers, French Barker, Charles W. Barker and Herbert Clay Barker.
Among survivors are special friends, Cecil and Lena Carter, James and Irma Cale and Mary Kay Miller.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in Bradley's Funeral Home.

Mr. Charles, 32, of 749 Beulah Church Road, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Larkin A. Clevinger
GRUNDY -- Larkin A. Clevinger, 72, of the Home Creek section of Route 1, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Buchanan General Hospital.
He was a life-long resident of Buchanan County and a son of the late Elder John W. and Mandy Keen Clevinger. He was a member and deacon of Home Creek Old Regular Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 382nd military Police Battalion in Germany. He was the recipient of the Army Occupational Medal and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of Sandy Vally Lodge 17 AF&AM, I00F Lodge 17 of Grundy and of the American Legion. He was a retired employee of Harman Mining Co. and a member of United Mine Workers of America Local Union 7025.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mable McClanahan Clevinger; two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Carolyn) Cammer of Gastonia, N.C., and Mrs. Jerry (Peggy) Thompson of Florence, S.C.; two sons, Wesley Clevinger of Grundy and David Clevinger of Vienna, Va.; six sisters, Alice Coleman of Abingdon, Lou Owens and Jean St. Clair, both of Grundy, Rachel Cochran of
Green Cove Springs, Fla., Stella Dales of Franklin, Ohio, and Polly Bateman of Shuqualak, Miss.; a brother, Gilbert Clevinger of Haysi; and four grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Home Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, Route 1, Grundy, by Grundy Funeral Home. Elders Jerry Newsome, Frank O'Quinn, Jackie Yates, Mack Varney, Harold Smallwood, Roby Raines and Howard Daniels will officiate. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mountain Valley Memorial Park in Big Rock, Va., with full military rites by members of John Ratliff Post 164 of the American Legion.
Mr. Clevinger was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Fred and Jimmy Clevinger.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Christina Clevinger of Vienna; and grandsons, Chris Abney, Rick Thompson, Ryan Clevinger and Chad Clevinger.
Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rolando M. Chavez, Dr. M.J. Thakkar, Howard L. Daniels, Billy Deel and Bill Elswick.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, where Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. by members of Sandy Valley Lodge l7. Regular services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Funeral services for William Franklin "W.F." Countiss will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon. The Rev. Jerry Eggers will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by VFW Patton Crosswhite Post 6975.
Mr. Countiss, 63, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Among survivors is a son, Richard F. Countiss.
Pallbearers will be Chester Countiss, Michael Countiss, Phillip Countiss, Henry Countiss, Sam D. Seymore, Greg Lewis, Eric Barb and Jay Barb. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Wright Equipment Co.
