Mary L. Wimmer

DENTON, N.C. -- Funeral services for Mary Lou Wimmer will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Revs. Jimmy Cole, Earl Cole and Columbus Baker Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pea Patch.
Mrs. Wimmer, 76, of 5111 Branchview Way, formerly of Pea Patch, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at the home of a daughter in Denton.
Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marlene Wright

CLINTWOOD -- Funeral services for Marlene Wright will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Jim Stanley and Greg Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va.
Mrs. Wright, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at her home.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Mullins and Bill Castle.
Mullins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest S. Aker

MARION -- Funeral services for Ernest S. Aker will be conducted Monday at 7 p.m. in Royal Oak Presbyterian Church in Marion by Seaver- Brown Funeral Service. The Revs. Alan Gray, Neville Mozingo and William T. Wing III and Drs. Angus Shaw and James Baucom Jr. will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion with miltiary rites by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
Mr. Aker, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999.
He was a member of Royal Oak Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and lay supply minister for the Abingdon Presbytery. He was a former member of the Marion Town Council and a former chairman of Planning Commission. He was a member of the FEMA Board, Salvation Army, the Gideons, VFW and served as lieutenant governor of the Kiwanis. After retirement from Nationwide, he was personnel manager at Smyth County Community Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Aker; a son, Tom Aker of Roanoke; a daughter, Jean Barker of Roanoke; a sister, Virginia Jordan of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Marie Aker of Roanoke; a son-in-law, Wally Barker of Roanoke; a brother-in-law, Curtis Jordan of Jacksonville; granddaughters Debbie Baucom and husband Dr. James Jr., Amy Springer and husband Rob and Jenny Doyle and husband Mike; grandsons Tim Barker and wife Gina and David Barker; great-grandchildren Marlee Baucom, Kelly Baucom, Brian Barker, Davis Barker and Jordan Doyle; nieces Barbara Mock and Pamela McClellan; and nephew Barry Jordan.
The town of Marion was dear to his heart. Ernie loved the Lord and served Him faithfully for 57 years in the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1326, Marion, VA 24354.
Seaver- Brown Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert Arnold

Funeral services for Delbert "Deb" Arnold will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., by Weaver Funeral Home. The Rev. Jennings Dotson will officiate. military honors will be by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 of Bristol Tennessee.
Mr. Arnold, 82, of 1803 Kentucky Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Valerie A. Baker

COEBURN -- Valerie Anne Baker, 20, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in Norton Community Hospital.
She was a 1998 graduate of St. Paul High School and attended Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, Va. She attended Midway Church in Coeburn and was an employee of Food City in Norton.
Surviving are her parents, Bill and Adele McCoy Baker; three sisters, Emily Baker, Alicea Baker and Caroline "Cari" Baker, all of the home; and maternal grandmother, Flora McCoy Stansberry of Coeburn.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Kermit Evans and Virgil Musick will officiate. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery in Fort Blackmore, Va.
Miss Baker was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Ottis and Delphia Baker.
Among survivors are two aunts, Jean Pitzer of Lake Wales, Fla., Judy Crider of Clintwood, Va.; three uncles, Jimmy McCoy of Mechanicsville, Va., Donald McCoy of Lakeland and Charles McCoy of Charles City, Va.; and a host of cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Castlewood Funeral Home.

Edgar Bingham

EMORY, Va. -- A celebration of the life of Dr. Edgar Bingham will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Emory & Henry Chapel by Farris Funeral Service. The Revs. James Bennington and Charles T. Neal and the Rev. Dr. David St. Clair will officiate.
Bingham, 78, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
Honorary pallbearers will be the active and emeritus faculty of Emory & Henry College.
There will be no visitation in Farris Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Edgar Bingham Scholarship Fund, Emory & Henry College.

Eva R. Boyd

RED ASH, Va. -- Eva Randy Boyd, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in a Richlands hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Tazewell County and a daughter of the late Robert and Ollie Simmons Smith. She was a member of Macedonia Regular Primitive Baptist Church and the widow of Raymond Boyd.
Surviving are a daughter, Josephine Church of Red Ash; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Macedonia Regular Primitive Baptist Church on Red Root Ridge by Singleton Funeral Service of Cedar Bluff. Elders Robert Whitt and James E. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery on Red Root Ridge near Raven, Va.
Mrs. Boyd was also preceded in death by a son, Darius Boyd; and a daughter, Novella Boyd.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday in the church, where services will be held at 7 p.m.
Singleton Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

John H. Carter

WISE -- John Herbert Carter, 57, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital in Norton.
He was a former employee of Marco Mining Co. and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda Stanley Carter; a son, Shawn Carter of Wise; three daughters, Trena Hamilton, Chanda Archer ad Shona Carter, all of Wise; a brother, Harvey " Pinkney" Carter of Wise; four sisters, Monette Mefford, Mary Jane Fultz, Jalie Cox and Joan Proffitt, all of Wise; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gerald Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in the Addington-Hensley Cemetery in Wise.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Sturgill Funeral Home.

Etta M. Chapman

DANVILLE, Va. -- Etta Virginia McQuire Chapman, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church in Danville and First Church of God of Allison Gap in Saltville.
Surviving are her husband, Preston Denny Chapman; two sons, Donald M. Chapman of Conyers, Ga., and Dale D. Chapman of Danville; a daughter, Gale Turner of Richmond; a sister, Ola Henderson of Marion; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 8 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Mumpower will officiate.
Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by a son, Wayne P. Chapman.
Among survivors are three daughters-in-law, Wilma Chapman of Conyers, Linda Chapman of Danville and Doris Jackson Chapman of Glade Spring; and a son-in-law, Michael Turner of Richmond.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday before the services in the funeral home. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Saltville Rescue Squad.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur D. Ennis

Funeral services for Arthur Darrien Ennis will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Michael Carmody and the Rev. Clarence Necessary will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Ennis, 34, of Bristol Virginia, formerly of Kingsport, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Huntsville, Ala., a son of JoAnn Hull of Kingsport and the late Buddy Ennis. He lived in Bristol Virginia for the past 10 years and was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Elizabeth Ennis; a son, Phillip B. Ennis of Blountville; a daughter, Faye Bailey of the home; a stepsister, Mrs. Britt (Deborah) Miller of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; his grandmother, Allie Carver of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Oak Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Trelma J. Hayter

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Funeral services for Trelma "Sister" Johnson Hayter will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon. The Rev. Sherman Thayer will officiate. Burial will be in Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hayter, formerly of Abingdon, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Pallbearers will be Todd Morisak, Jeffrey McGettigan, John McGettigan, D.J. McGettigan Jr., Joe Johnson and Charles Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Johnson, L.C. Johnson, Wayne Johnson and Jay Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, 25221 Walden Road, Abingdon VA 24210.
Farris Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
