Oscar C. Sheets

MARION -- Oscar Curtis Sheets, 75, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Francis Marion VFW Post 4667, where he served in the Honor Guard. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 132 for 36 years and of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Frances P. Sheets; a son, W.C. Price Sheets of Doylestown, Pa.; two daughters, Patricia A. Snow and Dawn S. Toms, both of Roanoke; a brother, Odell Sheets of Marion; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. Pastor Eddie Beck will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery with full military rites by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Pam Sheets of Doylestown; two sons-in-law, James Snow and Willis Toms, both of Roanoke; grandchildren, Emelee Snow and Jordan McKinnon; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Sheets of Marion.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Seaver- Brown Chapel.

Ruth J. Slaughter

Funeral services for Ruth Louise Jackson Slaughter will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of State Street United Methodist Church by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The Revs. Fred Dearing and Jonathan Jonas will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Slaughter, 91, of 11472 Goose Creek Road, Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at her home.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church parlor.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Martha A. Stout

Funeral services for Martha A. Stout will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Glenn London will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Susong Cemetery.
Mrs. Stout, 91, of 556 Old Stage Trail, Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Greystone Healthcare Center.
She was born in Marion and lived most of her life in the Bristol area. She was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and the widow of James Harry Stout.
Surviving are four sons, James Stout and Bill Stout, both of Bristol Tennessee, George Stout of Tampa, Fla., and David Stout of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Catherine Doss of Abingdon; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. before the chapel service Monday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Jessie J. Tucker

BLUFF CITY -- Jessie James Tucker, 75, of 3064 Highway 11-E, Lot 22, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his home.
He was born in Washington County, Tenn., a son of the late William and Betty Street Tucker. He lived most of his life in Washington County and was a U.S. Army corporal in World War II. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Service Medal and the African, European and Middle Eastern Services medals. He retired from Tennessee Valley Authority, where he was employed as an iron worker, and was a member of Sunset Village Baptist Church in Bristol Tennessee. He was the widower of Cherry Mae Tucker.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Belcher Tucker; four sons, Larry Tucker of Maryville, Tenn., James H. Tucker of Johnson City, Richard Tucker of Limestone, Tenn., and Bradley Tucker of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two daughters, Teresa Dugger of Limestone and Barbara Bowers of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a sister, Mae Rosenbaum of Limestone; six stepsons, Steve, Michael, Gregory and Rick Belcher, all of Bristol, Timmy Belcher of Michigan and Joey Belcher of Nashville; 23 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Morris-Baker South Chapel by Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Caudell will officiate. Burial will be in Monte Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Belcher, Greg Belcher, Steve Belcher, Mike Belcher, Chad Belcher, Andrew Belcher, Herman Hagie and Randy Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be John Cunningham, L.C. Rosenbaum, Dr. James Schrenker, Dr. Benjamin Cowan and Dr. Roger McSharrey.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wellmont Hospice, 1 Medical Park, P.O. Box 8964, Bristol, TN 37621.

Mary L. Wimmer

DENTON, N.C. -- Mary Lou Wimmer, 76, of 5111 Branchview Way, formerly of Pea Patch, Va., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at the home of a daughter in Denton.
She was born in Pan, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Lilly Bell Keene Goodman, both Buchanan County, Va., natives. She lived in the Jewell Ridge and Pea Patch areas her entire life and was a member of Shelter Freewill Baptist Church at Whitewood, Va. She was the widow of Rufus Wimmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Columbus (Bonnie) Baker Jr. of Denton; three sons, Curtis Wimmer of Oak Creek, Wis., Kenneth Wimmer of Jewell Ridge, Va., and Darrell Wimmer of Oak Creek, Wis.; four sisters, Mrs. Joe (Corby) Wimmer of Abingdon, Pearlie Sutherland of Talmadge, Ohio, Pinkie White of Richlands and Mrs. Burb (Thelma) Vance of Swords Creek, Va.; three brothers, George Goodman Jr. of Talmadge, Ronald Goodman of Abingdon and Harold Goodman of Pounding Mill, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Revs. Jimmy Cole, Earl Cole and Columbus Baker Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pea Patch.
Mrs. Wimmer was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Charlene Wimmer; and two brothers, Peerless and James Goodman.
Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday in Hurst-Scott Funeral Home.

Fallie Wright

CLINTWOOD -- Fallie "Marlene" Wright, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Dickenson County and lived most of her life there. She was a member and clerk of Georges Fork Freewill Baptist Church and the widow of Thomas Wright.
Surviving are a son, Rick Wright of Springfield, Va.; a daughter, Cathy Wright Owen of Falmouth, Va.; three sisters, Tootsie Castle of Clintwood and Rosie Gabbard and Stella Crabtree, both of Richmond, Ind.; two brothers, Emory Mullins of Clintwood and Hollie Mullins of Richmond, Ind.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Jim Stanley and Greg Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Mullins and Bill Castle.
The family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m.
Mullins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie E. Branson

RURAL RETREAT, Va. -- Funeral services for Bessie E. Branson will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Roy Branson and W.T. Meredith will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Branson, 77, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at her home.
Pallbearers will be Barry Branson, Jerry Shipp, Leslie Leonard, Wayne Barger, Philip Branson, Bruce Leonard and Wayne Burkette.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clemence Breeding

LEBANON -- Clemence Breeding, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late A.A. "Son" and Elinor Sykes Breeding. She attended Lebanon Church of God.
Surviving are two sisters, Ruth Musick of Bluefield, Va., and Nancy Castle of Charlottesville; three brothers, James H. Breeding of Hampton, Joe C. Breeding of Lebanon and Scottie Breeding of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Russell County Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Earl Hess will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery.
Among survivors are special friends Bob and Sue Puckett of Cleveland.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday in Russell County Funeral Home.

Elmer C. Carr

PIQUA, Ohio -- Elmer C. "Kitty" Carr, 81, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in a Dayton, Ohio, hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff.

James E. Cooke Jr.

ABINGDON -- James E. Cooke Jr., 83, of 222 Stone Wall Heights, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Reed Cumbow Cooke; a son, James E. Cooke III of Abingdon; a daughter, Elizabeth Reed Cooke of New York City; three nieces; and a nephew.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park by Campbell Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Tolar Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Campbell Funeral Home.
