George E. Patterson Jr.

Funeral services for George Edward Patterson Jr. will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. in Robinson Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. James McMillam will officiate. Burial will be private.
Mr. Patterson, 34, of 221 Johnson St., Bristol, Va., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his home.
He was a son of Mary Yvonne Patterson of Bristol Virginia and the late George E. Patterson Sr. He was of the Apostolic faith and a graduate of Virginia High School. He was a former employee of ARA, working at Virginia Intermont College.
Surviving, besides his mother, are a sister, Stephanie Lynn Patterson of Frederick, Md.; his maternal grandmother, Aquila S. Banks of Bristol Virginia; and a niece.
Mr. Patterson was also preceded in death by maternal grandfather William N. Banks and paternal grandparents James and Magnolia Patterson.
Among survivors are a niece, Breana Hargrave of Frederick; three uncles, William "Billie Ed" Banks and James Banks, both of Bristol Virginia, and James Patterson; and five aunts, Iris Cloyd, Marietta Delapp, Patricia Goins, Sue Bradley and Lillian Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service Thursday in Robinson Mortuary.

Brandon Scott Perkins

HONAKER -- Funeral services for Brandon Scott Perkins will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Gerald Lester and Luther Bowman will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery near the home.
Brandon Scott Perkins, 13, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Messer, Donnie Messer, Tim Baldwin, David Baldwin, David Robinette, Jeff Kinder and Jarred Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Hess, Ryan Miller and the eighth-grade basketball team.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday or any time Wednesday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Honaker High School Athletic Department, P.O. Box 794, Honaker VA 24260.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Masceo Porter

GLADE SPRING -- Masceo Porter, 30, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Glade Spring.
He was a son of Ruth Ross of Rochester, N.Y., and Charles White of Williamsburg.
Surviving, besides his parents, are his wife, Joy LeeAnn Porter of Johnson City; two daughters, Sarina Justine Porter and Haley Lynn Porter, both of Johnson City; a son, Caleb Edward Porter of Johnson City; his grandmother, Jean Preston of Glade Spring; two brothers, Terry Ross of Rochester and Johnathan White of Williamsburg; a sister, Shynta Brown of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
Among survivors are four uncles; three aunts; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in Farris Funeral Service.

Carolyn Y. Stout

Carolyn Yvonne Stout, 62, of 201 Kingsolver St., Bristol, Va., died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in NHC Health Care of Bristol.
She was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and a daughter of the late Lee and Lottie Penley. She was of the Christian faith and the widow of Charles Mack Stout.
Surviving are four daughters, Vickie Stout of Jacksonville, Fla., Ann Franklin of Hickory, N.C., Kathy Faisal of Woodstock, Ga., and Lisa Clifton of Richlands; a son, Ricky Stout of Bristol Virginia; two sisters, Betty Penley and Phyllis Worley, both of Bristol Virginia; four brothers, Doug Penley of Bristol Virginia, Jack Penley of Blountville, Jimmy Penley of Statesville, N.C., and Billy Lynn Penley of Abingdon; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bert Edwards and John Rosenbaum will officiate. Entombment will be in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mrs. Stout was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Penley and JoAnn Venable; and four brothers, Leonard Penley, Don Penley, Terry Penley and Robert Penley.
Among survivors are a very special sister-in-law, Debbie Penley; and grandchildren Chase Franklin, Cody Lee Stout, Elizabeth Anne Clifton, and Aaron and Alyssa Faisal.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Franklin, John Clifton, Mir Faisal, Wayne Prothero, Lee Allen Penley and Stevie Bridgeman. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home or any time at the home of her son, Ricky Stout, 201 Kingsolver St., Bristol, Va.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donita Faye Surrett

DANTE -- Funeral services for Donita Faye Surrett will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Hamlin Baptist Church at Hamlin by Castlewood Funeral Home. The Revs. Charles Weatherford and Estol Amburgey will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Mrs. Surrett, 35, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Pallbearers will be Travis Mullins, Dave Woods, Robbie Proffitt, Curtis Mullins, Jeff Mullins, Charles Jennings and Victor Hall.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Warren Taber

DORAN, Va. -- A memorial service for Warren Alfred Taber will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Rev. Norman Wilhoit will officiate.
Mr. Taber, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
He was born in Quantico, a son of the late Alfred J. and Elvie Milstead Taber, both Quantico natives. He had lived in Florida for several years and in Doran for the past 22 years. He was of the Methodist faith, a retired self-employed paint contractor and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Vance Taber; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Lori) Gustafik of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sons, Jeffrey Taber of Clearwater, Fla., Toby Taber of Staunton, Kelly J. Taber of Cedar Bluff and Yancy Lee Taber of Doran; two stepdaughters, Billie Jean Davis of Raven and Connie Sue Lester of Tazewell; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Taber was also preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and three stepbrothers.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law Annette Taber of Clearwater, Theresa Taber of Staunton and Sharon Taber of Cedar Bluff.
The family will receive friends an hour before the funeral service Wednesday in Hurst-Scott Funeral Home.

Eula Mays Taylor

Eula Mays Taylor, 78, of 15538 Industrial Park Road, Bristol, Va., died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was born in Russell County, a daughter of the late William and Mary Steffey Mays. She had lived in Dante for 71 years before moving to Bristol seven years ago. She was the widow of Lindsey E. Taylor and a member of Dingus Memorial Freewill Baptist Church in Dante.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois E. Taylor of Bristol Virginia; a sister, Ilene M. Boyd of Castlewood; three brothers, Fred L. Mays Sr. of Castlewood, Roy M. Mays of Abingdon and Robert J. Mays of Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Arville Dingus will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Lee Boyd Jr., Mark Mays, S.L. Trent, John Wayne Trent, Phil Brewer and Ronnie Gorley.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Castlewood Funeral Home.

Gladys S. Taylor

MARION, N.C. -- Gladys Smith Taylor of Route 4 died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Russell County, Va., a daughter of the late Dan and Carrie Fields Holmes. She was a retired employee of W.T. Grant Department Store. She was of the Methodist faith and the widow of Robert L. Taylor.
Surviving are two brothers, Ralph Holmes of Abingdon and Walter Holmes of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Eula) Ringley of Bristol Tennessee; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Lebanon Funeral Home in Lebanon, Va. The Rev. Everette Moorefield will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Among survivors is a very dear friend, Carol Goforth of Marion.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Lebanon Funeral Home.
Kirksey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
