F. Eddie Leonard

BLOUNTVILLE -- F. Eddie Leonard, 63, of 224 Harr Drive died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
He was a lifelong resident of the Blountville area, a son of the late Tommy and Dora Belle Almaroad Leonard. He was a retired employee from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Lynn of Newtown, Conn., and John Leonard of Blountville; two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Hazel E.) Houser of Bluff City and Mrs. Mike (Betty Jo) Leonard of Blountville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Eddie Zimmerman and Zane Sutherland will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel.

Harry A. Linkous Jr.

MARION -- Harry A. Linkous Jr., 84, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Seaver- Brown Funeral Service.

Dennis C. Meadows

HONAKER -- Dennis C. Meadows, 60, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands.
He was born in Bluefield, W.Va., a son of the late Robert Lee and Ressie Bell Brooks Meadows. He spent his early life in the Honaker area, moved away and returned to the area six years ago. He was a graduate of Honaker High School and a former member of the National Guard. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Free Christian Church on Big A Mountain, near Honaker. He was a former coal miner.
Surviving are his wife Norma Jean Meadows; a daughter, Valeria Lynn Worcester of Wilmington, N.C.; two sons, Brian Meadows of Orlando, Fla., and Dennis Calvin Meadows of Iaeger, W.Va.; four stepsons, Ricky Dale Artrip, David Allen Artrip, Randall Scott Artrip and Michael Ray Artrip, all of Honaker; two sisters, Susie Alice Maxwell of Iaeger and Mary Margaret Meadows of Honaker; two brothers, Millard Meadows of Swords Creek and Asa Meadows of Finksburg, Md.; a half-brother, Bill Page of Roanoke; five grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Bobby Rasnake and Clyde Lambert and pastor Mike Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Richardson Cemetery on Stone Branch near Honaker.
Mr. Meadows was also preceded in death by a son, Rodney Meadows.
Among survivors is a very special stepson, Michael Ray Artrip.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday in Honaker Funeral Home.

Melvin A. Poston

CALICO ROCK, Ark. -- Melvin A. Poston, 78, formerly of Saltville, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Calico Rock.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville.

Bertha Mae Smith

BLUFF CITY -- Bertha Mae Smith, 83, of 321 Flatwood Road died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
She was a lifelong resident of Hickory Tree community and a daughter of the late Jake and Fannie Smithson Hayes. She was a charter member of Hickory Tree Union Church, a retired bakery manager and former school teacher during World War II. She was a member of the first graduating class of Holston Valley High School in 1937.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Judy) Roberts of Bluff City, Mrs. Tom (Sandra) Pepper of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Leo (Frieda) Uy of Virginia Beach; a sister, Marie Perrigan of Bristol Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hickory Tree Union Church by Weaver Funeral Home of Bristol. The Rev. Jimmy Sproles will officiate. Burial will be in Shipley Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Ricky Lee Smith.
Among survivors are aunt Mrs. Albert (Cora) Hayes; sister-in-law Mrs. Pete (Kate) Hayes; and grandchildren Joey and Ralph Fasano, Bertha Mae (Krystal) Alford, Jesse and T.J. Pepper, Jackie Lee Smith and Ricky Uy.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Weaver Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620.

Lillard K. Vanover Sr.

Lillard King "L.K." Vanover Sr., of 917 Kentucky Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Weaver Funeral Home.

Mary Baugh

TAZEWELL, Va. -- A graveside service for Mary Baugh will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Main Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Tom Conley will officiate both services.
Mrs. Baugh, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va.
She was born in Pearisburg, a daughter of the late William Jackson O'Dell and Nannie Fortner O'Dell. She was raised in Bluefield. She was a graduate of Summit City Business College in Bluefield and employed as a medical secretary at St. Lukes Hospital.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, past president of the United Methodist Women and a UMW Circle chairperson. She taught Sunday school in the children and youth departments and served as superintendent of the children's department. She also served as a mission chairperson and was a former member of the Parsonage Committee and Administrative Board. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club of Bluefield and the widow of Walter C. Baugh Sr.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary B. Olewiler of Tazewell; and three grandchildren, Philip Andes of Boulder, Colo., Michael Richards of New York City and Sharon O'Dell Baugh of Columbus, Ohio.
Mrs. Baugh was also preceded in death by a son, Walter C. Baugh Jr.
Among survivors are son-in-law William Olewiler of Tazewell and former daughter-in-law Martha B. Clarke of Cincinnati.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home.

Charles Beavers

CEDAR BLUFF -- Funeral services for Charles "Buck" Beavers will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel. The Revs. Sam Altizer and Gerald Stacy will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill with military rites by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 DAV.
Mr. Beavers, 64, of the Raven Nest Branch section, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at his home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Singleton Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel E. Boyd

BELMONT, Miss. -- Ethel Easter Boyd, 79, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Red Bay Hospital in Red Bay, Ala.
She was born in Virginia. He was a housewife and the widow of Guy Boyd. She was a member of Calvary Family Worship Center in Red Bay, Ala.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Peggy) Hall of Belmont, Mrs. Rick (Brenda) Richter and Mrs. Robert (Aretta) Sullivan, both of Indianapolis; four sisters, Eunice Dunford and Louise Pierce, both of Indianapolis, Ann Stevenson of Graham, N.C., and Betty Booher of Bristol Tennessee; three brothers, Walt Wilson of Saltville, and Andrew Wilson and Edwin Wilson, both of Abingdon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday in Belmont, Miss.
Deaton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel H. Boysaw

SPEEDWELL, Va. -- Hazel Hughes Boysaw, 66, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Fletcher and Georgia Ann Lambert Hughes. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church in Statesville, N.C., for many years.
Surviving are her husband, George S. Boysaw; two daughters, Mahalia Woods of Columbus, Ohio, and Katrina Farabee of Wytheville; three sons, Anthony Boysaw of Hickory, N.C., and Angelo L. Boysaw and Calvin T. Boysaw, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Edna Corley of Springfield, Ohio, Savannah Harrison of Dayton, Ohio, and Annie Mae Pinkard of Speedwell; a brother, Dana Hughes of Columbus; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Morning Star Apostolic Outreach Center by Barnett Funeral Home of Wytheville. Elders Walter Burton, James Mack and Bishop Terry Dalton will officiate. The body will be taken to the church an hour before service time. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
Mrs. Boysaw was also preceded in death by two brothers, McKinley and Richard Hughes.
Among survivors are sons-in-law Rick Woods of Columbus and Joseph Farabee of Wytheville; daughter-in-law Cora Boysaw of Hickory, N.C.; and a host of friends and other close relatives.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas C. Caldwell

ABINGDON -- Thomas Charles "T.C." Caldwell of 28170 Minton Lane, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and a son of the late Thomas C. and Margaret J. Hall Caldwell. He was a member and elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Virginia Minton Caldwell; two sons, Walter Thomas "Tom" Caldwell and Billy Lynn Caldwell, both of Abingdon; a sister, Mary Craig Rhea of Meadowview; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Bethel Presbyterian Church by Farris Funeral Service. The Revs. Robert Thornton and Earle Barron will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Among survivors are grandchildren Greg Caldwell, Jon Caldwell, Bracken Caldwell, Kellie Frost and Karrie DeArmond; and great-grandchildren Hannah DeArmond, Dillon DeArmond, Savannah Caldwell and Rachel Frost.
Pallbearers will be David Henry Sr., Kyle Reed, Charles Rice, John Roberts Sr., D.L. Stout, John Wright and Rhea Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be John Eden Sr., Fred G. Parker, C.M. Rice and E.P. Widener Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Farris Funeral Service.
