Wesley T. Polly Jr.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Wesley Tipton Polly Jr., 79, died in Daytona Beach.
He was born in Appalachia, Va., a son of the late Thelma Smith Polly and W.T. Polly Sr. of Appalachia. He moved to Daytona Beach in 1968 from Bristol Virginia. He graduated from Bristol Virginia High School and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Belk-Lindsey Department Store of Daytona Beach. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Infantry 29th and 79th Divisions. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia-Rose Swan of Brodheadsville, Pa.; and two grandsons, Robert M. Swan and William "Trip" Swan III, both of Brodheadsville.
Bellevue-Cedar Hill Memory Gardens & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne H. Robinson

MARION -- Wayne Hascue Robinson, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000.
He was born in Russell County and was the widower of Leonia Hall.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Novada Skeens Robinson; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Lydia) Dean of Roanoke; a son, Donald Robinson of Chilhowie; a stepson, S.I. Dye Jr. of Kingsport; two brothers, Huston Robinson and Pete Robinson, both of Lebanon; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. The Rev. Joe Powers will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Robinson was also preceded in death by a son, Joe.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law Lois Robinson of Chilhowie and Mrs. Joe (Jean) Robinson of Piney Flats.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Seaver- Brown Funeral Service.

Linda Lou Rosenbaum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Funeral services for Linda Lou Rosenbaum will be conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Hall will officiate. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Weaver's Cemetery.
Linda Lou Rosenbaum, 48, of Green Valley Developmental Center, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Johnson City Medical Center.
Surviving, besides her parents, are four brothers, Henry Rosenbaum of Anover, Kan., Willie Rosenbaum of Blountville, and Gary Rosenbaum and Harry Rosenbaum, both of Bristol Tennessee; five sisters, Mary Jane Cook and Hattie Goodell, both of Bristol Tennessee, Eva Marshall of Bristol Virginia, Joyce Harrison of Elizabethton and Phyllis Leonard of Bluff City; and several nieces and nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Daisy Salyers

NICKELSVILLE, Va. -- Daisy "Thelma" Salyers, 83, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Scott County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Arkansas Mae Dean.
Surviving are her husband, Emmitt Salyers; a daughter, Gertie Gibson of Gate City; two sons, Garnie Salyer of Nickelsville and Doug Salyer of Kingsport; four brothers, Ralph Dean of Bristol Virginia, Fred Dean of Mendota, Emory Dean of Hiltons and Guy Dean of Fort Worth, Texas; a granddaughter; a step-granddaughter; a step-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. The Revs. G.W. White and Riley Boy will officiate. Music will be by Junior Smith and the Family Tradition. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Dean Family Cemetery in Nickelsville. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Mrs. Salyers was also preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Ervin "Pap" and Carl Dean.
Among survivors are son-in-law Jim Gibson of Gate City; daughters-in-law Wilma Salyer of Nickelsville and Arlene Salyer of Kingsport; granddaughter Tonya Salyer of Knoxville; step-granddaughter Pam Castle of Nickelsville; and step-great-grandson Collin Castle of Nickelsville.
Pallbearers will be David Dean, Dennis Dean, Mike Dean, Glenn Dean, Stevie Dean, Paul Weddle and Eddie Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Taylor and Darrell Gillenwater.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, c//o Activity Funds, 105 Clonce St., Weber City, VA 24290, Attention: Betty Castle.
Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah A. Stallard

DUNGANNON -- Sarah A. Stallard, 90, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Brian Center in Weber City.
She was a daughter of the late John Morgan Osborne and Nancy Riner Osborne of Hunters Valley area near Dungannon. She had resided in the Brian Center for the past several months. She was a member of Dungannon Freewill Baptist Church and the widow of McKinley R. Stallard.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann S. Jennings; a sister, Sue Cox of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Tina Jennings-Morrison and Amanda J. Powers; great-grandson John-Morgan Jennings Morrison; two nieces; and a great-niece.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. in Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Holston View Cemetery.
Mrs. Stallard was also preceded in death by three sisters Edna Owens, Maggie Riley and Rida Mann Culbertson; a brother, Dewey Osborne; special nephews Glenn Mann and Johnny Mann; and special niece Lora Sluss.
Among survivors are son-in-law James E. Jennings; nieces Louise Mann Carter of Marietta, Ga., and Nancy Cox Cardin of Nashville; and special great-niece Faye Sluss May of Fort Blackmore.
Mrs. Stallard was a Christian who loved her family, home, friends and her church. She enjoyed her yard, flowers and vegetable garden. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her kindness and love of God. She will also be remembered for her delicious cooked beef and potatoes, deviled eggs, coconut cakes and seafoam candy.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home or at the home of James and Ann S. Jennings, Route 1, Nickelsville, Va.
Scott County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Stiltner

BLUFF CITY -- Funeral services for Clarence "C.A." Stiltner will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel in Keen Mountain, Va. The Rev. Billy Rosenbaum will officiate. Entombment will be in Greenhills Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va.
Mr. Stiltner, 70, formerly of Vansant, Va., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol Tennessee.
He was born in Buchanan County, a son of the late Hilbert Stiltner and Pinky Stiltner Endicott. He was a retired coal miner and the widower of Lola Mae Stiltner.
Surviving are his wife, Ilene Taylor Stiltner; three sons, Reb Stiltner of Abingdon, Danny Stiltner of Glade Spring and Benjamin Stiltner of Piney Flats; three daughters, Virginia McNew of Richmond, and Shirley Jupino and Becky Petro, both of Chilhowie; three stepchildren, Sandra Stilwell of Lakeland, Fla., Bryan McGinnis of Charleston, S.C., and Debra Cornett of El Paso, Texas; several sisters; a brother; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stiltner was also preceded in death by a brother, Burt Benton Stiltner; and two sisters, June Brown and Lois Williamson.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Buchanan Funeral Service.

Martha C. Tester

BLUFF CITY -- Funeral services for Martha L. Carty Tester will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Barr will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Sunrise Cemetery.
Mrs. Tester, of 669 Egypt Road, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Piney Flats, a daughter of Mona Smith of Bristol Tennessee and the late Ed Carty. She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a former employee of Sullivan County Landfill, a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving, besides her mother, are her husband, Sidney W. Tester; a son, S. Allen Tester of Bluff City; a sister, Betty C. Humphrey of Bluff City; two brothers, Bill Carty of Piney Flats and Eddie Carty of Gate City; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; five nieces; and a nephew.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Tester, Michael Tester, Eddie Carty, Chuck Arnold, James Osborne and Frank Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Wilson, Guy Wilson Jr., Chase Arnold, Michael Jenkins, Matt Jenkins and Kenny Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. prior to the chapel service Wednesday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Grace Lynn Terry Thomas

Grace Lynn Terry Thomas of Shelby Street Apartments died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Weaver Funeral Home.

Jack O. Whitehead Sr.

KNOXVILLE -- Jack O. Whitehead Sr., 80, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Park West Hospital in Knoxville.
He was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge 490 of Williamsburg, Ky. He was a retired grocer and the widower of Tennessee Mays Whitehead.
Surviving are two daughters, Helen Coatney and Melissa White, both of Knoxville; two sons, Oakie Whitehead of Shreveport, La., and Eddie Whitehead of Bristol Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Sunday in Williamsburg, Ky.

William Payne Bentley Jr.

CASTLEWOOD -- William Payne "Gogle" "J.R." Bentley Jr., 58, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born in Etty, Ky., a son of the late William Payne Bentley Sr. and Nancy Stewart Bentley. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Big Stone Gap. He attended Hemphill School in Jackhorn, Ky., was a retired coal miner and a machine operator.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Bentley; a son, Otho Dwayne Bentley of the home; two daughters, Ramona Ann Golden and Melissa Michelle Hammond, both of Coeburn; three brothers, Wilburn Bentley of Virgie, Ky., Ballard Bentley of Neon, Ky., and Ed Bentley of Jackhorn; two sisters, Millie Bentley of McRoberts, Ky., and Bonnie Jean Hall of Dean, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Church of Christ in Big Stone Gap. The Rev. John Hurley will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Coeburn.
Among survivors are grandsons William Paul Bentley and Robert Wayne Bentley.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the church.
Gilliam Funeral Home of Big Stone Gap is in charge of arrangements.
