Clifford E. Malone

WATAUGA, Tenn. -- Clifford Eugene Malone, 55, 128 Bare Hollow Road, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
He was born in Watauga, a son of the late Earl and Chessie Bare Malone. He was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ and a life member of Capt. Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post 2166.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Malone; a son, John "J.D." Malone of Watauga; a daughter, Pam Hunt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two brothers, Robert and Norman Malone, both of Watauga; three sisters, Grace Oaks and Opal Scott, both of Watauga, and Frances Emmert of Elizabethton; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 8 p.m. in Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel. Mack Bennett, Wayne Boswell and Brad Perry, ministers, will officiate. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Happy Valley Memorial Park with military honors by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom Post 2166. Those attending should meet at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Mr. Malone was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Rudd Malone; and a sister, Maxie Morrell.
Among survivors are grandchildren, John Brody Malone of Watauga and Joshua and Kaleb Hunt, both of Winston-Salem.
Pallbearers will be Mark Malone, Denny Wayne Emmert, Brad Perry, Terry Emmert, Tommy Ledford, Bruce Harkleroad, Billy Willocks and Harold Mathes. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Whittington, Carroll Tipton, Phil Taylor, Ray Presnell, Pat Ledford, Bobby Simpson, Benny Emmert, Jerry Snead, Gene Oaks, Bob Bare, Ralph Emmert, Lawrence Range, Keith Oaks and Jerry Reese Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home or any time at the residence or at the residence of a sister, Frances Emmert, 206 Williams Ave., Elizabethton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 209 South Riverside Drive, Elizabethton.
Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley L. Marshall

Funeral services for Shirley Leonard Marshall will be conducted Saturday at 7 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor J. Samuel Rasnake will officiate. Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Knollkreg Cemetery.
Mrs. Marshall, 70, of 1511 Tremont Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Riley, Jim Street, Herman Treadway, Charles Olinger, Johnny Barnett, Bobby Wall, Sammy Rasnake and Jack Coffey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Moss, Donnie Cross, Walt Williams and friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home and other times at 124 Pershing Ave., Bristol, Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Westhighlands Church or Wellmont Hospice House.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice M. Meade

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- Beatrice N. McCoy Meade, 74, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford.
She was a daughter of the late Samuel Grant Meade and Cora Powers Meade. She was the widow of Lonnie Huston Meade and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Lonnie Stephan Meade of Millersville, Timothy Gerald Meade of Floyd and Randall Dwight Meade of Christiansburg; a sister, Pearl Smith of Wise; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. in Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of Baker Funeral Home in Pound. The Revs. Bob Mullins and Lester Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Meade Cemetery in Pound.
Mrs. Meade was also preceded in death by six brothers, Leslie McCoy, Luster McCoy, Bascon McCoy, Kermit McCoy, Emory McCoy amd Lefler McCoy; and three sisters, Georgia Meade, Orpha McCoy and Ruth McCoy.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, where a song service will be held at 7 p.m.
Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

M. Louise Musick

Funeral services for M. Louise Musick will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The Revs. Fred Dearing and Jane Nelson will officiate.
Mrs. Musick, 85, of 412 Merriwood Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 100 Oakview Ave., Bristol, VA 24201 or to State Street United Methodist Church, 300 W. Valley Drive, Bristol, VA 24201.

Manuel Nunley

Funeral services for Manuel Nunley will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Lester MacKinnon and Scott Price will officiate. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery with military honors by VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975.
Mr. Nunley, 81, of Southside Avenue, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at his home.
Pallbearers include nephews. Honorary pallbearers include Edward Nunley, Bert Martin, Kenneth Taylor, Jerry Cornett and Fred Nunley.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Homer E. Smith

Homer Ephraim Smith, 91, of Bristol Virginia, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in National Health Care Center in Bristol, Va.
He was born in Catawba County, N.C., moved to the Bristol area 18 years ago from Hickory, N.C., and was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his wife, Eula Jean Holman Smith; a daughter, Roxanne Nelson of Harrisonburg, Va.; a stepson, Mike Coleman; two sisters, Prue Punch of Conover, N.C., and Elvia Anthony of Newton, N.C.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. The Rev. Don White will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Louis E. Sowards

BIG STONE GAP -- Funeral services for Louis E. Sowards will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Holding Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry DeVault will officiate. military rites, conducted by Col. C.H. Hagy Chapter 45 DAV, will follow in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap. A Masonic service will be conducted Saturday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home by Big Stone Gap Masonic Lodge 208 AF&AM.
Mr. Sowards, 68, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in Holding Funeral Home.

David H. Addington

KINGSPORT -- David H. Addington, 71, of 522 West Sullivan St. died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Clinchco, Va., a son of the late Warren and Mollie Addington. He had lived in Clintwood for 31 years and in Kingsport for the past two years. He retired from Clinchfield Coal Co. and later Erwin Supply Co. in McClure, Va. He also worked for Superior Sterling in Bluefield, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of Clintwood Masonic Lodge and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Qualls of Big Stone Gap; a son, Michael R. Addington of Blountville; a sister, Jearline Addington of Kingsport; and two grandchildren, Amber Brock of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Wesley Allen Qualls of Big Stone Gap.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Alford will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Tiller, Johnny Ritz, Lowell Counts, Robert Bailey, Jack Arrington and Carl Gilson Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Norman C. Ratliff, Dr. James Merrell, Vic McCall, Ayers Shortt, Buddy Wallen, Earl Kerr and Earl Tiller.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.

Rhea Armstrong

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. -- Rhea Armstrong of 119 West Main St. died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rod Armstrong. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he received a degree in chemical engineering. After graduation, he was an employee of Eastman Kodak Corp. He served as a Naval flight instructor during World War II and following the war. He returned to Rogersville to work in the family business, Rod Armstrong and Co., where he later became a co-owner and operator. He was a member of Rogersville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Madeline Tillery Armstrong; three sons, Joe Armstrong of Bristol, John Armstrong of Tallahassee, Fla., and Hampton Armstrong of Huntsville, Ala.; two daughters, Mary Frances Anthony of Memphis and Madeline Blobe of Boston; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Rogersville Presbyterian Church by Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Dr. David L. Hale will officiate. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of choice.
Colboch-Price Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
