Malinda B. Keefauver

Malinda "Lennie" Boy Keefauver, 89, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born in Sullivan County, a daughter of the late William and Eleanor Gallaher Boy. She was the widow of Weldon Faw Keefauver. She was a teacher in Washington County, a homemaker, and a member of Boone's Creek Christian Church for 70 years, where she taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a member of Ladies Home Demonstration Club.
Surviving are a son, Billy Joe Keefauver of Gray, Tenn.; two daughters, Martha K. Warren of Gray and Eleanor K. McFarland of South Boston, Va.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in Boone's Creek Christian Church by Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough, Tenn. Minister Charles Reece will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Boone's Creek Christian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Keefauver was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Hall in 1988; two brothers; and a sister.
Among survivors are brother-in-law Joe D. Keefauver of Johnson City; and sisters-in-law Ruby Keefauver of Johnson City, and Mrs. Jack Keefauver and Blanche Boy, both of Gray.
Pallbearers will be Gayle Carson, Denny Mayes, Mark Fox, Howard Alexander, John Payne, Donald Sims, Dennis Cox, Martin Durham and Ben Bowman.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the church and other times at the home of daughter Martha Warren, 131 Mark Drive, Gray, Tenn., and son Billy Joe Keefauver, 632 Hales Chapel Road in Gray.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Boone's Creek Christian Church Building Fund, 312 Christina Church Road, Gray, TN 37615.
Dillow Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leo Mabe

Funeral services for Leo H. Mabe will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Ross will officiate. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., with military honors by VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975 of Bristol, Tenn.
Mr. Mabe, 73, of Bristol Tennessee, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at his home.
He was born in Kansas City, lived in Dayton, Ohio, most of his life and in the Bristol area for the past 10 years. In 1965, he retired as a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his wife, Dora Mabe; six daughters, Margaret Smith of Sardinia, Ohio, Renelda Hacker of Axton, Va., Linda Irwin and Brenda Whitener, both of Hamilton, Ohio, Dianne Steiner of Springfield, Ohio, and Mary Ann Hall of Cleveland, Ohio; four sons, Steve Mabe of Middletown, Ohio, Ralph Mabe of Baltimore, Harve Mabe of Georgetown, Ohio, and Gary Daniels of Statesville, N.C.; four brothers, Williard Mabe, Don Hilton and Clay Hilton, all of Rogersville, Tenn., and J.D. Mabe of Pennsylvania; a sister, Ruth Lawson of Rogersville, Tenn.; 34 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home or other times at the home of the Rev. Raymond and Martha Ross, Valley Drive, Blountville, Tenn.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Claude B. Moore

CASTLEWOOD -- Funeral services for Claude B. Moore will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Arville Dingus will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Moore, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Nickelsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 237, Nickelsville, VA 24271.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles J. Morris

CHILHOWIE -- Charles J. Morris, 77, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Valley Health Care Center.
Surviving are five daughters, Edna Sexton of Warden, Ill., Mary Cale of Marion, and Brenda Price, Linda Lefler and Sherry Morris, all of Chilhowie; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Creasy will officiate. Burial will be in Round Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in Seaver- Brown Chapel.

Trula P. Myer

CYRSTAL LAKE, Ill. -- Trula Phipps Myer, 55, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in Memorial Center in Woodstock, Ill.
She grew up in Bristol, a daughter of the late Hugh and Ardella Young Phipps, and was a 1962 graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and Virginia Intermont College. In 1965, She was employed as a flight attendant for United Airlines based in Washington, D.C., and Miami.
Surviving are her husband, Dave T. Myer; a daughter, Mrs. James (Lori) Thorne of Algonquin, Ill.; a son, Michael Myer of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Nancy Phipps of Johnson City; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Illinois.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the March of Dimes.

BLUFF CITY -- John Eugene Osborne of 429 Old Thomas Bridge Road, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Weaver Funeral Home.

Oliver Rose

CASTLEWOOD -- Graveside services for Oliver "Jr." Rose will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood. The Rev. John A. Kiser will officiate.
Mr. Rose, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
Pallbearers will be Larry Woods, Travis Woods, Dwayne Aldridge, Lee Hammons, Dennis Fraley, Robbie Rose, Jason Clark, Skipper Proffitt and Kevin Proffitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Woods, Anthony Woods, Mark Woods, Howard Woods and Bill Wampler.
The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Monday in Castlewood Funeral Home.

Roy Allen Smith

ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Roy Allen Smith will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Abingdon Baptist Church by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. Dr. Steve Pollard and the Rev. Allen Moor will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military rites by Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975.
Mr. Smith, 80, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Among survivors are grandchildren Nathan A. Cook of Charlottesville and Dr. J. Aaron Cook of Richmond; and son-in-law C. Allen Cook.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Cooke, Garry Smith, Scott Worsham, Dirksen Compton, Bryant Compton and Keeb Compton. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Abingdon Baptist Church, members of Harry Denton Sunday School Class and fellow State of Virginia game wardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in Farris Funeral Service.

James M. South

WISE -- Funeral services for James Martin South will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise. Pastor Gregory Sergent will officiate. Graveside services will be Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood by United Mine Workers Local 2274.
Mr. South, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Norton Community Hospital.
He was a son of the late J.L. and Bertha Cassell South, a retired coal miner with Clinchfield Coal Co. with 45 years of service and a member of UMWA Local 8939. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and attended Glamorgan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nemo Armstrong South; a son, David R. South; two daughters, Theresa Mullins of Abingdon and Gail S. Metcalf of Charlottesville; two brothers, Donald South of Independence, Mo., and David South of Hopewell; eight sisters, Virginia Hansen of Little Falls, N.Y., Hazel Rich of Rockfield, Md., Billie Hansen of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Betty Cipollina of Mt. Dora, Fla., Mary Ann Henry of Roanoke, Kitty Neeley of Canton, Ill., Jean Caudill of Waverly and Carolyn Weinsteim of Highland Springs; and six grandchildren.
Mr. South was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack South; and two sisters, Pat Weiderman and Kathleen South.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Carolyn South; sons-in-law Randy Mullins of Abingdon and Dave Metcalf of Charlottesville; grandchildren Kevin Jones, Trish Underwood, Brian Jones, Randall Mullins, Jamie Mullins and Nick Mullins; and great-grandchildren Kortney Jones and Kody Jones.
Sturgill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements .

Renda M. Stevens

ABINGDON -- Renda F. Montgomery Stevens, 91, of 481 Bradley St., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County in the Denton Valley community. She was a member of Denton Valley Baptist Church and the widow of Murphy Stevens.
Surviving are a son, Ray Stevens of Abingdon; two grandchildren, the Rev. Timothy Stevens and Stephanie Mullins, both of Abingdon; four great-grandchildren, Natasha Taylor, Heather Stevens, Courtney Stevens and Merick Mullins, all of Abingdon.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Denton Valley Baptist Church. The Revs. Timothy Stevens and Floyd Nelson will officiate. Burial will be Montgomery Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Everett Stevens, Charles Stevens, C.H. Denton, Sam Price, Lewis Montgomery, Carroll Howard, Tom BaumGardner and Larry Rowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Virgil A. Motley, Dr. David H. Smith, Dr. William J. Baker, Lewis Heniger, Shannon Denton and Herbert Widener.
The family will be at the residence of Ray Stevens, 24268 Twin Oaks Road, Abingdon, Va., where friends may visit at any time. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in Campbell Funeral Home.

Diana T. Thomas

HAYSI, Va. -- Diana T. Thomas, 44, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was a lifelong resident of Haysi, a daughter of James Frank and Marie Nowlin Thacker and was a graduate of Haysi High School. She attended Southwest Community College and Dickenson County Vocational School in the nursing program. She was a life member of Haysi Rescue Squad, an employee of Medical Center Home Health and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Surviving, besides her parents, are her husband, Randy Thomas; a son, Scott Owens of Haysi; a sister, Patsy Mullins of Bristol Virginia; five brothers, Jimmy Thacker, Terry Thacker, Jerry Thacker, Frank Thacker Jr. and Richard Thacker, all of Haysi; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Sluss will officiate. Burial will be in Thacker Cemetery, Route 1, Haysi.
Among survivors are daughter-in-law Michelle Owens of Haysi and grandson Jarren Owens.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. The Rev. Palmer Leftwich will officiate.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
