Elaine T. "Cookie" Swain, 53, of Midlothian, died July 9, 2001. She was preceded in death by her father, James B. Taylor. Survivors include her husband, Danny E. Swain; two children, Cheryl Swain Day and her husband, Roger and Benjamin Earl Swain and his wife, Kim; two granddaughters, Brittany Elizabeth Day and Madison Taylor Day; mother, Louise H. Taylor; mother and father-in-law, Edna and Lesley Swain; one sister, Barbara T. Shropshire and her husband, Howard; one brother, J.B. Taylor and his wife, Sandra; and other loving family. Mrs. Swain was employed by the Goddard School. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

TURNER
Dwonn A. Turner entered eternal rest July 4, 2001. Cherishing his memory are his four children, DaVon Davis, China Farrell and Zion Turner; his father, Howard Turner; grandmother, Virginia Coleman; and stepfather, Michael Deskins; aunt and uncle, Edward and Terri Coleman; a host of other relatives and friends, one devoted, Pam Rosser. Lawrence Lavante Washington, 25, departed for his heavenly home July 7, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Eloise Washington; sisters, Latonney, Malika, Shafaira, Shameka, Shalanda and Solida. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Riverview Cemetery. Immediately following, the family will receive friends at the Patterson Ave. Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3901 Patterson Ave.

WILSON
Harriett Elnora Hocker Wilson entered eternal rest Sunday, July 8, 2001. She was the widow of Montgomery Wilson and the youngest daughter of the late William Prince and Harriett Henry Hocker. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph (Julia Ann) Hocker, Lily (John) Ross, Hybernia (Morton) Wood, Charles (Mary) Hocker, Andrew (Alma) Hocker and Alfred Levi (Luzana) Hocker. She was a graduate of Armstrong High School and Virginia Union University. Mrs. Wilson taught many years in Southside Virginia and retired from the Caroline County School system. Cherishing her memory are five generations of caring and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of the Providence Park Community and other communities where she taught. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 11, 2001, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the A.D. Price Funeral Establishment, 212 E. Leigh St. A eulogistic service will be conducted Thursday, July 12, 2001, 10 a.m. at the Providence Park Baptist Church, 468 E. Ladies Mile Rd., Dr. Jerome Ross officiating. BENTON
Nancy Ann Fortune Wood Benton, 53, of Ashland, passed away August 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard M. Wood. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, James D. Benton; two sons, Richard and William Wood; two daughters, Crystal Benton and Tonya McKinney; two stepsons, John and Charles Benton; seven grandchildren; her parents, John L. and Margaret Ann Howell; two sisters, Brenda Dale and Susan Howell Wootten; brother, John L. Howell Jr.; loving brother-in-law, Gerald K. Dale Sr.; loving sister-in-law, Gail Cook Howell; and a loving and devoted nurse, Kathy Leadbetter. The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Ashland Church of God on Myrtle St., where services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. BOGGS
Hettie Sue Eubanks Boggs, 77, of Richmond, formerly of Decatur, Ga., devoted wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Samuel John (Johnny) Boggs; two sons, Wayne C. Boggs and his wife, Arlene A. Boggs, and James M. (Jimmy) Boggs and his wife, Brenda P. Boggs; three grandsons, Corey A. Boggs and his wife Amber Casler, Jeremy A. Boggs and Ryan A. Boggs; two brothers, Hopie W. Eubanks and George Eubanks, both of Decatur, Ga. She along with her husband, Johnny founded Richmond Alarm Co. in 1947 from which she retired in 2000. She was a faithful member of the Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment at Dale Memorial Park. At her request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church.

BOOKER
Mrs. Elizabeth Hines Booker, 77, of Richmond, departed this life Monday, August 26, 2002. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving her family.

CABELL
Robert Gamble Cabell Jr., 70, of Powhatan, died peacefully at his home Sunday, August 25, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gamble and Jeanne Hunton Witt Cabell; and his sister, Mariana Cabell Singleton. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Tant Cabell; sons, Robert Gamble Cabell III and his wife, Cathy of Houston, Texas, Temple Witt Cabell and his wife, Susan; daughters, Carrington Dugger, Anne Buhman and her husband, Dennis, all of Richmond, Lynn Trude Roberts and her husband, Sky of Fairplay, Colorado, Virginia Pavelik and her husband, Robert of North Palm Beach, Florida, and Angie Cabell and her husband, Rich Wolkiewicz of Powhatan; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Cabell was a graduate of St. Christopher's School, where he earned many leadership as well as athletic awards. He attended the University of Virginia, where he earned both his undergraduate and law degrees. He was Vice President of the Student Council, a member of the varsity football team and was captain of the tennis team. He was a member of TILKA, DKE, the 13 Society and the 7 Society. He was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1957. He was a member of the Bar Association of the City of Richmond where he served as a member of the Board of Directors from 1986-1990, Chairman of the Committee on Area Bar Associations 1989-1990, Secretary Treasurer in 1990, Vice President in 1991, President in 1993 and was a member of the Executive Committee from 1990 until his death. As a member of the Virginia State Bar he was chairman of several committees and a member of Bar Council from 1979-1985 and again in 1995 until his death. He served on the Board of Governors and was Chairman of both the Criminal Law Section and the Jury Selection Committee. He was also a member of the Virginia Bar Association where he served on the Criminal Law Committee from 1974-1977. He was a substitute Judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit from 1986 until his death. He was a past president of the Richmond Criminal Bar Association, a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. He was a Fellow of the Virginia Law Foundation and listed in The Best Lawyers in America and a life member of Who's Who in American Law. He was a faculty member of the Virginia Professionalism Course sponsored by the Virginia Supreme Court as well as a frequent lecturer on criminal law for Virginia Continuing Legal Education as well as for the State and Local Bar Associations. Mr. Cabell was a member of the Country Club of Virginia and St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the Vestry, Lay Reader and Sunday school teacher. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 29 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Powhatan County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2245 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan, Va. 23139.

Departed this life August 21, 2002, Mrs. Rosetta V. Currie of 1905 Blair Street. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Currie. She is survived by two nieces, Alice Faison and Marquerite Wood; two nephews, James A. and Artis Glendale Vaught; several great-nieces, nephews and cousins, among them devoted, Joyce Spencer; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Wednesday 11 a.m. at Mosby Memorial Baptist Church, 2901 Mechanicsville Turnpike, where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time. Robert Glinn Cutrell II, 58, of West Point, Va., died Monday, August 26, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Cutrell; brother, Calvin L. Cutrell; son, Robert G. Cutrell III; and a grandson, Thomas Pulliam. He is survived by his wife, Mary Brooks Cutrell; a son, Beamon Wade Cutrell; three sisters, Jane Swain of Chesapeake, Va., Marjorie Masters of Mechanicsville, Va., and Brenda Harlow of West Point, Va.; a brother, James W. Cutrell of West Point; daughter-in-law, Safak Cutrell; three grandsons, Robert G. Cutrell IV, Christopher Cutrell and L. D. Ellis. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, Va. Interment in Sunny Slope Cemetery. Welford D. (W.D.) Flagg Jr., 81, of Ashland, passed away Monday, August 26, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Wright Flagg; two sons, Bryan W. and his wife, Terri B. Flagg of Beaverdam and Kevin D. Flagg of Ashland; two sisters, Jeanne Dailey and Christine Pitts; a brother, Clyde M. Flagg; also two grandsons, Justin and Jonathan Flagg. Louise Pollard Gray, 87, of Mechanicsville, passed away Monday, August 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Otis C. Gray. Mrs. Gray is survived by her son, Cleveland Wayne Gray and his wife, Brenda; her daughter, Joan Hollins and her husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Jonathan Gray and his wife, Jennifer, Erin Gray, Heidi Hollins, Gray Hollins and Evan Hollins. She is also survived by her sister, Jennie Pollard Sorrell; a cousin, Mollie Bet Rice; and nephews, Robert Sorrell and George H.
