Lois Brown Todd

Funeral services for Lois Brown Todd will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The Rev. Laura Rasor will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Todd, 74, of Brookwood Road, Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Pallbearers will be family members.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday before the service in the church parlor.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Euell W. Warren

Funeral services for Euell William "Bill" Warren will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Eggers will officiate.
Mr. Warren, 73, of 497 VI Ranch Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Washington County, Va., a son of the late Euell and Sarah Adkins Warren. He was a retired employee of Eastern Michigan University and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Jannell Phelps Warren; two sisters, Joan Cromley of Englewood, Fla., and Zetta Saleman of Venice, Fla.; two half-sisters, Donna Barstow of Canton, Mich., and Shirley Shankin of Garden City, Mich.; three stepsisters, Pauline Hartley of Westland, Mich., Ruby Jean Minnick of Kingsport and Helen Presley of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and a brother, Alonzo Warren of Erwin, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Pinkie G. White

POUNDING MILL, Va. -- Funeral services for Pinkie Irene Goodman White will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. Elders L.D.S. Church and Delbert Lambson will officiate. Burial will be in White-Jewell Family Cemetery on White Mountain near Jewell Valley.
Mrs. White, 75, formerly of Whitewood, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Logan, W.Va., a daughter of the late George Nathan and Lilly Bell Keen Goodman, both West Virginia natives. She had lived in the Whitewood area most of her life and in the Pounding Mill area for the past 15 years. She was a senior companion in the Richlands area and of the Protestant faith. She was the widow of Oralis Grant "O.G." White.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Connie Sue) Stoner of Chillicothe, Mo., Mrs. Michael (Lillian Rebecca) Whitt of Greenwood, Ind., and Mrs. Kevin (Jhonnie Belinda) Blankenship of Richlands; a son, Charles Hobert White of Claypool Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Joe (Corby) Wimmer of Abingdon, Mrs. Pearlie Sutherland of Talmadge, Ohio, and Mrs. Burb (Thelma) Vance of Swords Creek; three brothers, George Goodman Jr. of Akron, Ohio, Roland Kirby Goodman of Abingdon and Harold Linkous Goodman of Pounding Mill; 17 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. White was also preceded in death by a son, James Shelby White; a stepdaughter, Dallas Raw Marcum; a granddaughter, Rita Sue Louthan; three sisters, Mary Lou Wimmer, Caroline Goodman and Ina Joyce Goodman; and four brothers, Peerless, Samuel, James Ivan and Linden Goodman.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be James Lester and Gary Easter.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michael R. Wiles

VOLNEY, Va. -- Michael R. "Hook" Wiles, 40, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in West Jefferson, N.C., a son of Beulah Blevins Wiles of Whitetop, Va., and the late Albert Wiles.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Wanda Greer Wiles; a daughter, Rachal Wiles of the home; a stepson, Jonathan Thomas of Abingdon; two sisters, Laura Cox of Warrensville, N.C., and Teresa Wiles of West Jefferson; five brothers, Bob Wiles, Roger Wiles, Ed Wiles and Pete Wiles, all of Whitetop, Va., and Ronnie Wiles of Rugby, Va.; a step-grandson; 11 nieces and nephews; and a great-niece.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Helton Valley Baptist Church in Whitetop by Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Independence. The Revs. Rex Hall and Jody Blevins will officiate. Burial will be in Walls Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church Tuesday evening, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Rugby Rescue Squad, 1845 Rugby Road, Mouth of Wilson, VA 24363.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nellie J. Wishon

Nellie J. Wishon, 87, formerly of Kingsport, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Cambridge House in Bristol.
She was born in Sullivan County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Belle Nichols Morrell. She had lived in Kingsport most of her life. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and the widow of Clarence Wishon.
Surviving are two brothers, Joseph "J.W." Morrell of Bluff City and Wiley Gene Morrell of Kingsport; three sisters, Hattie McGhee of Greenback, Tenn., and Grace Fillers and Elzira Harmon, both of Piney Flats; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park. Dr. Allen Davis will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday before going in procession to the cemetery for services.
Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Wright

TAZEWELL, Va. -- Louise Wright, 73, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory, N.C.
She was born in Tazewell, a daughter of the late Walter L. and Dora Neal Jones. She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose and Women's Auxiliary of Barns-Beavers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell. She was the widow of Roscoe Gratton Wright.
Surviving are two daughters, Pauline Brown of Bluefield, Va., and Peggy Bowling of Wise; four sons, David Wright of Conover, N.C., James Wright of Sherrills Ford, N.C., Danny Wright of Tazewell and Bobby J. Wright of Atlanta; three sisters, Hallie Hull of Atlanta, Evelyn Dyke of Greensboro, N.C., and Jean Long of the Tri-Cities in Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth G. Gillespie will officiate. Burial will be in Brown's Chapel Church Cemetery at Stoney Ridge in Tazewell County.
Mrs. Wright was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Bryant, Edna Copeland and Mary Beth Jones; and three brothers, Albert Jones, Frank Don Jones and Ralph Jones.
Among survivors are son-in-law, Kenneth Bowling of Wise; and daughters-in-law, Dixie Wright of Conover and Cindy Wright of Tazewell.
Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Atkins

MARION -- Bobby Atkins, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was born in Beckley, W.Va. He was an armed forces veteran, serving four years in the U.S. Marines and eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a coal miner for 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Ferguson; a daughter, Deborah Moses of Springfield, Va.; a brother, Julius Atkins of Beckley; a sister, Joanne Knuckles of Beckley; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Barnett's Marion Funeral Home.

Jimmie R. Cunningham

Graveside services for Jimmie R. Cunningham will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Dr. Willie Malone and pastor Charles Pearce will officiate.
Mr. Cunningham, 55, of Bristol Tennessee died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of Bradford Cunningham of Charleston, W.Va., and the late Madeline Smith Cumningham. He was a member of Bethel Church in Elizabethton.
Surviving, besides his father, are his wife, Linda Thacker Cunningham; three sons, Jimmie R. Cunningham of Stonewood, W.Va., Christopher Cunningham of Lenoir City, N.C., and Randy Majerus of Knoxville; two daughters, Cynthia Cunningham of Dundalk, Md., and Beth Crusenberry of Lenoir City; three sisters, Pam Dukate of Scott Depot, W.Va., and Kay West and Jeanie Carte, both of Charleston; three brothers, Eddie Cunningham of Narvon, Pa., Phillip Cunningham of Orlando, Fla., and David Cunningham of Charleston; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cunningham was also preceded in death by a sister, Paula Sue Davis.
Among survivors are several aunts and uncles.

Carl G. Deskins Sr.

TAZEWELL, Va. -- Carl Greever Deskins Sr., 94, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Tazewell Community Hospital.
He was born in Tazewell County, a son of the late John and Julie Mundy Deskins. He opened the first Deskins Supermarkets in Tazewell and Richlands as manager. He retired from the grocery business in 1970. He was a former dairyman and farmer in Tazewell County and a member of Calvary Baptist Chapel Church. He was the widower of Thelma Peters Deskins.
Surviving are his wife, Geneva Farmer Deskins; a daughter, Margaret Steger of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Carl Deskins Jr. of Wise; a brother, William T. Deskins of Bluefield; a stepdaughter, Linda Clifton of Jewell Ridge; two stepsons, Roger Farmer of Richlands and David Farmer of Rosedale; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chuck Trent will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
Mr. Deskins was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Deskins and Liola Deskins; and three brothers, Al Deskins, W.R. Deskins and David Deskins.
Among survivors are a stepson-in-law, Keith Clifton of Jewell Ridge; and stepdaughters-in-law Kim Farmer of Richlands and Priscilla Farmer of Rosedale.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Friends may from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home.
