Dora Dyson
DAMASCUS -- Dora Dyson, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was born in
Johnson County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Nat and Molly Jenkins. She had lived in Damascus for the past 40 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Heath of Meadowview and Mary Jean Lunsford of Stokesdale, N.C.; three sons, Dean Dyson of Grottoes, and Johnny Dyson and Tommy Dyson, both of Crimora; two sisters, Annis Winters of Damascus and Louise Duvall of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn.; a brother, George Jenkins of Shady Valley, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in
Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Warren Wilson and Frank Woods will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Among survivors are three daughters-in-law, Glenna Louise Dyson, Mary Candance Dyson and Debbie Dyson; and two sons-in-law, Russell Wayne Heath and Charles Lunsford.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Wayne Dyson, Homer Wilson, Frankie Winters, Randy Winters, Douglas Puckett, Junior Phillips, Don Hash and Robert Coram. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Martin, Sam Heath and Jamie Owens.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.

BREAKS, Va. -- Funeral services for Margarette Hay Epling will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home Chapel. Elders Garnell Gilbert and Price Viers will officiate. Burial will be in Epling Cemetery at Breaks.
Mrs. Epling, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.

BREAKS, Va. -- Funeral services for Noah Glen Gilbert will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy. Evangelists Mike Rife and Michael Trent will officiate. Burial will be in Deel Cemetery on Bull Mountain in Harman, Va.
Mr. Gilbert, 66, of Cow Fork section, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his home.

Martha Jane Hart
Funeral services for Martha Jane Hart will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Paperville Cemetery. Dr. William S. Goforth will officiate.
Miss Hart, 98, of Bristol Tennessee died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a daughter of the late David Jenkins and Martha Carmack Hart. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are four cousins.

Arthur B. Hess
ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Arthur B. Hess will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Billy Hawkins, Clyde Lambert and Benny Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Austin Cemetery in Venia.
Mr. Hess, 83, of 19604 Saturn Drive and formerly of Venia, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be Dallas James, Clinton Hess, Roger Combs, Delmer Hess, Dayton Hughes, Clifford Hess, Gerald Hess, Theodore McGlothlin and David Sweet. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell James, Sam Hess, Lowell Hess, Ricky Hess, Kermit Keen and Keith McGlothlin.

William L. Houser
Graveside services for William Lee "Bill" Houser will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Samuel Saunders will officiate. military honors will be by VFW Patton Crosswhite Post 6975.
Mr. Houser, 71, of 105 Kingsolver St., Bristol, Va., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Elden S. Hudson
Elden S. Hudson, 82, of Bristol Virginia died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was born in Wythe County, Va., a son of the late Fred Neal and Minnie Jackson Hudson, and lived in Bristol most of his life. He was the widower of Nancy Maude Hendricks Hudson. He was a retired employee from Tennessee Eastman since 1980 and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bristol Tennessee.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Kay) Wiseman of Bristol Virginia; a sister, Juanita H. Humphrey of Wythe County; four grandchildren, Grant Sackin of Virginia Beach, Scott Sackin of Fredricksburg, Kimberly Parker of Williamsburg and Tabatha Brownsehidle of York County; and two great-grandchildren, Robbie Brownschidle and Katie Brownschidle.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Turnbull will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Hudson was also preceded in death by a son, Jim F. Hudson; three sisters, Doris H. May, Gay H. Humphrey and Virginia H. Jones.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Marge Hudson of Bristol Virginia.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Graham Landrum's Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday before the service in Akard Funeral Home.

William O. Hutton Sr.
SEVEN MILE FORD, Va. -- William Otis Hutton Sr., 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
Surviving are a son, William Otis Hutton Jr. of Seven Mile Ford; three grandchildren, William O. Hutton III, Sharon "Missy" Hutton and Curtis E. Pennington; and three great-grandchildren, Gregory Pennington, Justin Pennington and Kelly Ann Hutton.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in
Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Chilhowie. The Revs. Paul
Jones and Neville Mozingo will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Middle Fork Cemetery.

Verna Keene
HAYSI -- Verna Keene, 92, of Route 2, Russell Prater community, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Alex "Uncle Bud" and Margaret Deel and the widow of Clyde C. Keene Sr. She was a retired school teacher. She was most currently employed as a house mother at the Children's Methodist Hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Margaret Tollison of Riner, Ada Plymale of Draper, Claudette Mullins of Midlothian and Judy Berman of Virginia Beach; two sons, George Ratliff of Haysi and Clyde Keene Jr. of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Bonnie Owens and Bertha Arrington, both of Haysi, Nell Arrington of Boyndton Beach, Fla., and Virchel Owens of Abingdon; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Bud Deel Cemetery on Route 2 in Haysi by Haysi Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Mutter will officiate.
Mrs. Keene was also preceded in death by sons, Bill Ratliff and Everette Ratliff; and a brother, Thurman Deel.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Haysi Funeral Home.
Laverne A. Lane
CASTLEWOOD -- Laverne A. Lane, 48, formerly of Mountain City Manor, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in
Johnson County Medical Center.
She was born in Clintwood, a daughter of Wiley Boyd of Mountain City and the late Belva Brooks Boyd. She lived in
Johnson County before moving to Castlewood, was a homemaker and a member of Trammel Baptist Church.
Surviving, besides her father, are a son, Freddy Lane of Weber City; a sister, Linda Adams of Mountain City; two brothers, Marty G. Boyd and Oliver Boyd, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday in Percy-Hux Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain City. The Rev. Gene Brooks will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Holston View Cemetery in Weber City.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Boyd, Joe Boyd, Bobby Lee Boyd, Danny Brooks, Terry Brooks and Danny Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddy Lane and Gar-field Lane.
