Dora Dyson

DAMASCUS -- Funeral services for Dora Dyson will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Warren Wilson and Frank Woods will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. Dyson, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Wayne Dyson, Homer Wilson, Frankie Winters, Randy Winters, Douglas Puckett, Junior Phillips, Don Hash and Robert Coram. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Martin, Sam Heath and Jamie Owens.
Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Eldridge

Charles Anthony Eugene Eldridge, five-day-old infant son of Bryan and Rhonda Walsh Eldridge, of 2160 Carolina Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Indian Path Hospital.
Surviving, besides his parents, are maternal grandparents Ronald Walsh and Kattie Walsh; maternal great-grandmother Cathrine Walsh and Janice Huggard; paternal grandmother Juanita Otey; and paternal great-grandmother Margaret Berry.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Carmody will officiate. Burial will be in Baby Land.
Among survivors are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the mausoleum.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

George S. Fletcher

PORT LAVACA, Texas -- George Steven Fletcher, 41, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000.
He was born in Buchanan County, Va., a son of George and Glorianna Landreth Fletcher of Maxie, Va. He was a 1976 graduate of Grundy Senior High School and attended Southwest Virginia Community College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an electrician.
Surviving, besides his parents, are a daughter, Virginia Lee Fletcher of Bristol Tennessee; a son, Nicholas Fletcher of Bristol Tennessee; two sisters, Donna F. Looney of Breaks, Va., and Dianna F. Hagy of Vansant, Va.; a brother, Michael Fletcher of New Castle, Va.; and maternal grandmother Virginia Morefield Landreth of Maxie.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Grundy Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Slone and Willard Owens will officiate. Burial will be in Bartley Cemetery in Maxie.
Pallbearers will be Gary Elswick, Henry Cantrell, Randy Elswick, Benny McCowan, Henry McNutt, Curtis Lockhart, Kenneth Chambers, Jimmy Dales and Michael Belcher.
Friends may call after 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where services will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Harman Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 220, Maxie, VA 24628.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Noah G. Gilbert

BREAKS, Va. -- Funeral services for Noah Glen Gilbert will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Grundy. Evangelists Mike Rife and Michael Trent will officiate. Burial will be in Deel Cemetery on Bull Mountain in Harman.
Mr. Gilbert, 66, of Cow Fork section, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Duty Gilmer

ABINGDON -- Mary Duty Gilmer, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Westhaven Retirement Living in Abingdon.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Campbell Funeral Home.

James Hart

HAYSI -- Funeral services for James Hart will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Sluss will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Mr. Hart, 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Emmitt and Carie Rasnake Hart. He was a miner, a truck driver and member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Geraldine Chafin of Johnson City; a brother, Jerry Hart of Abingdon; three nieces; and two nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in Haysi Funeral Home.

Robert S. Hill

RAVEN, Va. -- Robert Stuart (Reece) Hill, 48, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Tazewell County, a son of the late Willie and Lillie Collins Hill. He was of the Holiness faith.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Pearl Shelton Hill; four daughters, Kayla Hill and Michelle Hill, both of the home, Cindy McCracken of Richlands and Jackie Shelton of Doran; four brothers, Winfred Hill and Olbert Hill, both of Raven, Gerry Lee Hill of Swords Creek and Alfred Hill of Richlands; two sisters, Rosie Prater of Canebrake, W.Va., and Fannie Dye of South Carolina; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Revs. Don McGreggor and Clarence Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Mr. Hill was also preceded in death by two daughters, Allison and Tracy Hill.
Among survivors are son-in-law Mike Shelton of Doran, granddaughter Amanda Shelton and grandson Robert McCracken.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Hill, Donald Cordle, Larry Brown, Greg Brown, Bruce Lester and Mark Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in Singleton Funeral Service.

Elden S. Hudson

Funeral services for Elden S. Hudson will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Turnbull will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Hudson, 82, of Bristol Virginia, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Graham Landrum's Bible Class of First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday before the service in Akard Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 701 Flordia Ave., Bristol, Tenn., or a charity of choice.

Verna Keene

HAYSI -- Graveside services for Verna Keene will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Bud Deel Cemetery at Route 2 by Haysi Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Mutter will officiate.
Mrs. Keene, 92, of Route 2, Russell Prater community, died Tuesday, Jan, 11, 2000, in Dickenson County Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clara A. Mann

Clara A. Mann, 85, of 117 Crockett St., Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Weaver Funeral Home.

John H. McCurdy

Graveside funeral services for John H. "Johnny" McCurdy will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., by Robinson Mortuary of Bristol Virginia. The Rev. Dr. W.A. Johnson will officiate. military honors will be by DAV Chapter 40. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday for the services.
Mr. McCurdy, 56, of Bristol Tennessee, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in Robinson Mortuary.
