Irene Counts Crockett

Funeral services for Irene Elizabeth Counts Crockett will be conducted Friday at 4 p.m. in First Baptist Church by Blevins Funeral Home. Dr. W. Rand Forder will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Crockett, 84, of Bristol Virginia, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law LuAnn Crockett and Joyce Crockett.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Crockett, David Crockett Jr., Chris Crockett, Mark Byington and Matt McCall. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Green, Dr. Marcus Williams, Dr. Mark Borsch, Dr. Robert McKay and former and present deacons of First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Friday before the service in the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, 1 Virginia Ave., Bristol, VA 24201.
Blevins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Eldridge

Funeral services for Charles Anthony Eugene Eldridge will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel by Weaver Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Carmody will officiate. Entombment will be in Baby Land.
The infant son of Bryan and Rhonda Walsh Eldridge of 2160 Carolina Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in Indian Path Hospital.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the mausoleum.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lowell W. Galloway

Lowell Wilson Galloway, 88, of Bristol Tennessee died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Sullivan County, a son of the late George W. and Lena Larkins Galloway. He had lived in the Bell Ridge and Lynn Garden sections of Kingsport before moving to Bristol 50 years ago. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Co. in 1971 after 37 years of service and was a member of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church and the Alpha Omega Senior Citizens Group.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Frances Whitaker Galloway; a sister, Dorothy Lewis of Woostock, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. David (Marlene) Corby of Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward Crook will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Galloway was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. Ernest Galloway and Joseph N. Galloway.
Among survivors is son-in-law David Corby of Bristol Virginia.
Honorary pallbearers will be neighbors, Alpha Omega Senior Citizens, his doctors and caregivers at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Nursing Home staff, NHC Healthcare of Bristol staff and former co-workers at Tennessee Eastman Co.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. before the service Friday in Weaver Funeral Home.

Eva B. Gentry

LAUREL BLOOMERY, Tenn. -- Eva B. Gentry, 89, of 551 Gentry Cemetery Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Mountain City Care Center.
She was born in Lowell, Mass., a daughter of the late Andrew and Tepronella Marcdionas Buja. She was the widow of Chelsie Andrew Gentry and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert Gentry of Damascus; a daughter, Barbara Gentry of Laurel Bloomery; a sister, Mary Langiois of Fitchburg, Mass.; a grandson, Nicky Gentry of Laurel Bloomery; four granddaughters, Patty Trivett, Kathy McCulloch and Michelle Atwood, all of Mountain City, and Sylvia Murphy of Laurel Bloomery; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Percy-Hux Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Vos will officiate. Burial will be in Gentry Cemetery in Laurel Bloomery.
Pallbearers will be Nicky Gentry, Darrell Trivett, Robbie McCulloch, Mike Atwood, Travis Gentry and Timmy Gentry.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in Percy-Hux Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Saint Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund, Mountian City, Tenn.

Mary Duty Gilmer

ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Mary Duty Gilmer will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. in Campbell Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Darrell Fletcher and Larry Linkous will officiate. Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Mrs. Gilmer, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Westhaven Retirement Living in Abingdon.
She was born in Russell County and lived there before moving to Abingdon. She was a member of Brumley Gap United Methodist Church and the widow of Joe Gilmer.
Surviving are five nieces, Rachel Warner and Joan Fields, both of Lebanon, Mary Ellen Harmon of Knoxville, Betty Akers of Bristol Virginia and Margaret Duty of Abingdon; and a nephew, Ruddy Duty of Abingdon.
Mrs. Gilmer was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Duty.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Jessee, Matt Gibson, Bradley Webb, Jeff Arnold, Harry Gilmer, Luther Gilmer, Kemper Gilmer, Rocky Harmon and James Fields.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. in Campbell Funeral Home.

James Hart

HAYSI - Funeral services for James Hart will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Sluss will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Mr. Hart, 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

L.G. Hartsock

ABINGDON -- L.G. Hartsock, 79, of 16027 Elliott St. and formerly of St. Paul, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee. He was born in Scott County, a son of the late Oscar and Sally Elam Hartsock. He retired from Clinchfield Coal Co. and was a member of United Mine Workers of America. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Paul Masonic Lodge 343 AF&AM and Dingus Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. Most recently, he attended Jackson Memorial Church in Bristol Virginia.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Glovier Hartsock; two daughters, Barbara Asbury and Karen Gilbert, both of Abingdon; two sons, Gary Hartsock of Abingdon and Randall Hartsock of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Lucy Jean Glovier of Rockford and Geneva Taylor of Dante; four brothers, Willie Hartsock of Kingsport, the Rev. J.T. Hartsock of Castlewood, Bob Hartsock of Baltimore and Kelly Ben Hartsock of Dante; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Gary Harless and Arville Dingus will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Mr. Hartsock was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dee Hartsock and George Hartsock; and two sisters, Mary Stanley and Emma Hartsock.
Among survivors are grandchildren Lora Asbury, Matthew Hartsock, Brian Hartsock, Josh Gilbert, Jenna Gilbert, Tonya Brown and Bobby Braun.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, where a memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by St. Paul Masonic Lodge 343 AF&AM.
Castlewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edward H. Hibbitts Sr.

WISE -- Edward Harold Hibbitts Sr., 78, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Norton Community Hospital.
He was a son of the late Logan E. and Georgia Wright Hibbitts. He had lived on Main Street in Wise for nearly 50 years. He was retired from mining equipment sales and other mining-related businesses. He was a graduate of Jenkins Kentucky High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of Wise Baptist Church, a 50-year member of Clintwood Masonic Lodge 66 AF&AM, a former town council member of Wise and Clintwood and a past member of Kiwanis Clubs of Clintwood and Wise.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma S. Hibbitts; two sons, Edward H. Hibbitts Jr. of Abingdon and Charles L. Hibbitts of Grundy; four daughters, Ann H. Wallen of Blountville, Ruth H. Bowen of Duffield, Kate Hibbitts of Wise and Fay H. Street of Bristol Tennessee; two brothers, Harry Lee Hibbitts of Roanoke and Robert E. "Bob" Hibbitts of Hickory, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in Wise Baptist Church in Wise by Sturgill Funeral Home. Dr. Ray Jones Jr. and the Rev. Jennifer Kelly will officiate. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Phipps Cemetery in Clintwood by Clintwood Masonic Lodge 66 AF&AM.
Among survivors are daughter-in-law Shirley W. Hibbitts of Abingdon; sons-in-law Habern Wallen of Blountville, Willliam Bowen of Duffield and N.D. Street of Bristol Tennessee; and grandchildren Sara Wallen, Julie W. Gross, Emily Bowen, Lauren Street, Logan Hibbitts and Anna Hibbitts.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Friday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Wise Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 777, Wise, VA 24293.

Robert S. Hill

RAVEN, Va. -- Funeral services for Robert Stuart (Reece) Hill will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Revs. Don McGreggor and Clarence Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Mr. Hill, 48, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in a Bristol Tennessee hospital.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Hill, Donald Cordle, Larry Brown, Greg Brown, Bruce Lester and Mark Hill.
Singleton Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Sylvan J. Hobbs

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Sylvan Julian Hobbs, 60, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in a Portland hospital.
He was born in Benhams, Va., a son of Sylvan Julian Hobbs of Portland and the late Garnet Fentiss Hobbs. He had lived in Portland since 1974. He was a graduate of Sulfolk Community College and Stony Brook University of Long Island, N.Y. He was a computer consultant.
Surviving, besides his father, are his wife, Olga Miller; a son, Benjamin Hobbs of Portland; his stepmother, Phyllis Hobbs of Portland; a sister, Caroline Lass of Chuckey, Tenn.; and two brothers, Alfred Hobbs of Bristol Tennessee and Thomas Hobbs of Blountville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Portland.
Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
