Charles A. Harris
ABINGDON -- Charles Alexander Harris, 76, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Morganton, N.C., and had lived in Florida for 40 years before moving to Abingdon 10 years ago. He attended
Green Spring Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and received his master's degree from Vanderbilt University. He also attended Mercer University for other master's studies. He was a retired school administrator for the Dade County, Fla., School System, with 30 years of service, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara C. Harris; two daughters, Mrs. Zeke (Cathy H.) Fugate of Abingdon and Mrs. William (Nancy H.) Youmans of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Sarah Louise Harris of Morganton; and two grandsons.
Memorial services will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in
Green Spring Presbyterian Church by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. William J. Youmans will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Morganton.
Among survivors are grandsons Joseph Edward Youmans and Charles William Youmans.
The family will have a friends' reception at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church.

L.G. Hartsock
ABINGDON -- Funeral services for L.G. Hartsock will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Gary Harless and Arville Dingus will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Mr. Hartsock, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be nephews.

BLUFF CITY -- Funeral services for Pauline Jackson will be conducted Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Bluff City Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home. The Revs. Jeff Harless and Louis
Smith will officiate. Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City. Those attending the graveside service should meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Jackson, 72, of 413 Silver Grove Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, in
Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
She was born in Sullivan County, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Martha Jane Pirrgon. She was the widow of Acie Pierce Jackson.
Surviving are seven sons, Harold Edward Jackson, Robert Lee Jackson and Randy Lynn Jackson, all of Bluff City, Joseph Steven Jackson of Bristol Tennessee, James Martin Jackson of Rockwood, Charles Wayne Jackson of
Johnson City and Freddie Dale Jackson of Blountville; five daughters, Betty Jean Jackson of Bluff City, Helen Louise Jackson of
Johnson City, Alice Jane Wise of Bluff City, Mildred Diane Jackson of Bristol Tennessee and Linda Gail Vaught of Piney Flats; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jackson was also preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Loughian.
Among survivors are three special friends, Shirley and Mary Lindamood and Jamie Earhart.
Pallbearers will be Danny Shehan, Sid Johnson, Junior Perry, Ronnie Westen, Allen Westen and Paul Dowell. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Mrs. Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel or other times at the residence.

CHILHOWIE -- Gertrude Lambert, 73, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was a resident of Ridgefield Retirement Home in Chilhowie.

Brown Chapel in Marion. The Rev. Marion Boggs will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Round Hill Cemetery.

LEBANON -- Raymond H. Lasley, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Orangeburg, S.C.
He was a son of the late James Will and Bessie Bussey Lasley.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Byington Lasley of South Carolina; two daughters, Sandy and Becky, both of Orangeburg; two sisters, Shelby Hughes of Abingdon and Ruth Mannion of New Jersey; three brothers, Howard Lasley and Don Lasley, both of Lebanon, and Alfred Jake Lasley of Indiana; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held in Orangeburg.

ABINGDON -- Marie Kathleen Spiva Malone, 48, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., a daughter of William O. Spiva of Abingdon and Nancy Spiva of Abingdon.
Surviving, besides her parents, are her husband, Larry Malone; a son, Tony Malone of Abingdon; three daughters, Debbie Meares of Lumberton, N.C., and Alice Malone and JoAnn Malone, both of Abingdon; two brothers, Marion Spiva and Don Spiva, both of Abingdon; a sister, Betty Jackson of Abingdon; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. John Wesley Price will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Marion Spiva, Andy Trent, Jack Malone, Raymond Malone, Marty Holloway and Mike Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be James Malone, Keith Malone, Ashley Malone, Gabriella Camper, Elizabeth Malone, Kayla Christain, Elizabeth Huggins and Austin Holloway.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Funeral services for Helen Buretta Brickey Metzger will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Estes Funeral Home Chapel in Coeburn. The Rev. Randall Brickey will officiate. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery in Coeburn.
Mrs. Metzger, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Vitas Hospice in Winter Park.
She was born in Wise County, Va., a daughter of the late John and Ethel James Brickey.
She had lived in Kissimmee for 21 years and was a retired employee of Lerio Corp.
Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Metzger; a son, Ronnie Clark of Davenport; three brothers, Joe Brickey of Abingdon, Va., Lloyd Brickey of Gary, W.Va., and Sidney Vearl Brickey of Max Meadows, Va.; a sister, Loretta Donham of Ramona, Calif.; two granddaughters; and several nephews and nieces.
Among survivors are granddaughters Meghan and Adrienne.
