Roy C. Johnston Sr.

WATSONVILLE, Calif. -- Roy C. Johnston Sr., 88, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in California.
He was born in Banner, Va., a son of the late Andrew and Laura Robinson Johnston. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and the widower of Bertha Johnston.
Surviving are three sons, R.C. Johnston, Andrew Johnston and Bruce Johnston, all of Watsonville; three sisters, Susie Kennedy of Coeburn, Kathleen Thomas of Bristol Virginia and Marie Ramey of Norton; two brothers, Cecil Johnston of Hazel Park, Mich., and Pearl Johnston of Big Stone Gap; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held in Watsonville.

Henry P. King III

Henry P. King III, a Bristol Tennessee business and civic leader, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House. He was 74.
He was born in Bristol Tennessee, a son of the late Violet Holt King and Henry P. King Jr. He was a graduate of Bristol Tennessee High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.
Mr. King was executive vice-president, secretary and merchandising manager of the former H.P. King Co. of Bristol. He also had served as vice-president of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the downtown Bristol Retail Trade Council and as a director at Bristol Memorial Hospital from 1968-76.
He was involved in all levels of the United Way. While a member of the Bristol Host Lions Club, he was a director and vice-president and served as president in 1964. As a young man, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Bristol Virginia, where he was an ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher. He lated joined Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his wife, Anne Rosser King; a daughter, Jan K. Patrick of Bristol Tennessee; a son, Henry Preston King IV of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Evan and Brit Patrick of Bristol Tennessee.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The Revs. Paul Hamilton Fuller and George Bunn will officiate. The family will receive friends in the parish hall of the church an hour before the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. King was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa King Grace.
Among survivors are son-in-law Roger L. Patrick of Bristol Tennessee and daughter-in-law Sharon James King of Chattanooga.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill King, Charlie Moore, Fred Vance, Harry Bachman, Joe Richards, Joe Rowell, Warren Crockett, Kenny Ellis, Don Quales, Don King, Frazier King and Dr. Floyd Turner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 700 Cumberland St., Bristol, VA 24201, or Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Cecil Mabe

MARION -- James Cecil "J.C." Mabe, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Saint Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion in Albany. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Albany for many years.
Surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Martin of Roanoke, Bertha Reeves of Marion and Helen Coley of Wytheville; and three brothers, Charles M. Mabe Sr. of Oxford, Pa., William R. "Bill" Mabe of Wytheville and Hurley "June" Mabe of Marion.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. The Rev. Robert Krenik will officiate. Burial will be in Attoway Cemetery with military rites by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
Among survivors is a very special friend, Ethel Karras of Albany.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in Seaver- Brown Chapel.

Doris Lane Morris

Doris Lane Morris, 80, of 1639 Highway 126, Bristol, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Akard Funeral Home.

Mary M. Rhymer

Graveside services for Mary Magdaline Moore Rhymer will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Rooty Branch Cemetery.
Mrs. Rhymer, 70, of 106 Basswood Drive, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Bristol Nursing Home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Hutton, Guy Hall, Travis Hall, Ken Davis, Mike Rutter, Darrell Worley and Paul Thompson.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jessie Roberts

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Jessie Roberts, 76, formerly of Oakwood, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Alexandria.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Buchanan Funeral Service in Keen Mountain, Va.

Virginia C. Rouse

Funeral services for Virginia Louise "Lou" Callahan Rouse will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Rouse will officiate. Burial will be in Rooty Branch Cemetery.
Mrs. Rouse, of 110 Rouse Private Drive, VI Ranch Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Wellmont Hospice House.
Pallbearers will be Travis Sheppard, Danny Peters, Fred Herndon, Bill Skeens, Wayne Rouse and Jack Crusenberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Morrell, Jim Peters, Jack Dingus, Dave Brown, Tony Almany and Bob Slaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lena R. Sharpe

ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Lena Bee Ray Sharpe will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. H.G. Musick Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Mrs. Sharpe, 65, formerly of Honaker, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Snider Sr.

GLADE SPRING -- Robert "Bobby" Snider Sr., 65, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Seaver- Brown Funeral Service of Marion.

Ray M. Steele

NORWOOD, Ohio -- Funeral services for Ray M. Steele will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Kyle Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Steele, 69, of 426 Bell St., died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at his home.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rhonald D. Watson

SHADY VALLEY, Tenn. -- Rhonald D. Watson, 75, of 388 Roller Mill Road, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City.
He was a lifelong resident of Shady Valley, a son of the late Otto L. and Mary Jane Watson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired welder. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Campbell Watson; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Morrison of Meadowview; two sons, Ronnie Watson and Rick Watson, both of Lenoir, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Betty Rhudy of Damascus; a stepson, Dennis Campbell of Shady Valley; five sisters, Cleota McQueen of Shady Valley, Wilma Pope and Gertrude Gilley, both of Mountain City, Iris McCann of North Wilksboro, N.C., and Cordella Rugg of Roanoke; two brothers, Wade Watson of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Howard Watson of Shady Valley; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rush Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Morrison, Kenny Morrison, David Watson, Michael Watson, Mike Garland and Ricky Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Lewis and Cline Ray Blevins.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ova R. Williams

NORTON -- Funeral services for Ova Raleigh Williams will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Hagy Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Roger Jenkins and Michael Hunsucker will officiate. Burial will be in White Oak Gap Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams, 67, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Wise County and attended Freedom of Worship Church.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Williams; four daughters, Debbie Isom, Rhonda Cooke and Shelia Hensley, all of Norton, and Paula Gilliam of Big Stone Gap; a son, Delbert Williams of Norton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Mefford.
Among survivors are grandchildren Kim Mullins, Teresa Mullins, Stacey Robinson, Penny Greear, Missy Hamilton and Matthew Gilliam; great-grandchildren, Mark Benton Mullins, Autum Mullins and Amber Gentry; and a host of friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in Hagy Funeral Home.

Larry Glen Blevins

ROAN MOUNTAIN, Tenn. -- Larry Glen Blevins, 56, of 469 Tiger Creek Road, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Carter County, a son of the late Kail and Lillie Roberts Blevins. He was of the Free Will Baptist faith, was a machinist with PSG and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Sue Blevins; two daughters, Deanna Kay B. Hensley of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Glenda Denise Blevins of Johnson City; a brother, Gary Wayne Blevins of the home; two sisters, Patricia Dishman of Knoxville and Linda Jarrett of Bluff City; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 8 p.m. in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tenn. Dr. Allen Davis will officiate. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Tennessee Blevins Cemetery. The Rev. Perry Markland will officiate. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside services.
Mr. Blevins was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Tennessee and Cora Blevins.
Among survivors are son-in-law, David Lynn Hensley of Jonesborough; daughter Glenda's fiance, Kevin Conner of Johnson City; grandson, David Lee Hensley of Jonesborough; aunt, Bernice Shoun of Hampton, Tenn.; uncle, William Roberts of Hampton; a special niece and nephew, Kristie Blevins and David Blevins, both of the home; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Ellen Stout of Hampton; and three cousins.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Guinn, James Lyons, Danny Adkins, Roger Stout, Andy Stout, John Shoun, Timmy Roberts and Jack Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Conner, David Hensley, Louie Hopkins, Worley Birchfield, Danny Goodwin, Patrick Guinn, Joey Guinn, Timmy Guinn, Earl Chambers, Rob Chambers, Tyrone Powell, Bud Chambers, Ed Chambers, Luther Blevins, Jack Elliott, Louis Honeycutt, Jackie Paul Smith, Bertram Allen, Doc Hensley, Ronald Conner, Clinton Bennett, Richard Lovelace, John Frasier, Bill Tetrick, Robert Gouge and owner and employees of PSG.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
