Brenda Fay Tukloff
ROCKY MOUNT --Brenda Fay Tukloff, 56, of Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Trosy Ware Tukloff.
She worked as office manager and advertising manager at the Franklin New Post in Rocky Mount, for more than 30 years. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Lakeside Baptist Church in Salem.
Surviving are her sisters, Sandra Dillon and Joyce Tukloff, both of Rocky Mount, and Joan Dove of Fieldale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service chapel with Pastor Art Hearne officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home at 3 p.m. today and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 447 Dalewood Ave., Salem, Va. 24153.

Dorothy D. Berger
MECHANICSVILLE -- Dorothy D. Berger, 79, died Oct. 3, 2004, in a Mechanicsville hospital.
She was born in Hurt, and was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Berger Sr.
Surviving are two daughters Dawn Cassada of Mountain Valley Road, Axton, and Kay Oliveras of Madison, Ohio; two sons, Arthur W. Berger Jr. of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Al Berger of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; three granddaughters; three grandsons; one sister; and two brothers.
A memorial service was held Wednesday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Axton.
Bennett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Timothy Gunter
Timothy Shane Gunter, 19, of Spencer, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Roanoke on May 21, 1985, to Phillip and Deborah Gunter of the home.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Crystal Gunter of Bassett; grandparents, Evelyn Maxey of Martinsville and Sam and Bonnie Deal of Bassett; two nephews; and a niece.
Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the Peoples Church of the Living God on Virginia 57, west of Bassett.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Peoples Church of the Living God with the Revs. Laverne Bowman and Harold Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Irene M. Hairston
Irene M. Hairston, 71, of 215 Amy Ave., Martinsville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Martinsville.
Arrangements will be announced by Hairston Funeral Home.

Mary M. Johnston
A funeral for Mary Mildred Marlow Johnston, 89, of 225 Pine St., Martinsville, who died Oct. 9, 2004, was held Monday at County Line Christian Church with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Patrick McCrickard, Robert McCrickard, Matt Reedy, Bob Ashby, Don Ramsey, Harold Hubbard, Stover Shelton and Robert Turner
Norris Funeral Services and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.

Lizzie F. Shelton
Lizzie F. Shelton, 96, of Kings Grant Retirement Community, Martinsville, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was bon on March 10, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, to Ernest Leroy Fuller and Sallie Martin Fuller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van H. Shelton in 1971.
She had worked for Martinsville Insurance Agency, which she and her husband owned, and she taught school for several years. She was a member of Broad Street Christian Church and the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Patsy S. Lumsden of Glade Hill; two sons, William V. Shelton of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dick E. Shelton of Carrboro, N.C.; a sister, Eunice F. Wharton of Norfolk; three brothers, Roy Fuller of Danville, Edwin Fuller of New Bern, N.C., and S.J. Fuller of Martinsville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Burial Park with Dr. Steve Perotti and the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating.
Following the service, a reception will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at Kings Grant Retirement Community.
Memorials may be made to Broad Street Christian Church, 106 Broad St., Martinsville, Va. 24112.
McKee-Stone Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Bernard A. Turner
TROUTVILLE -- Bernard Alva Turner, 89, of Troutville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.
Turner was formerly of the Martinsville area. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Turner and Nannie Via Turner, three brothers, W.J. Turner, Edgar Turner and John Turner; two sisters, Lillie Turner Bell and Janie Turner Griggs.
A veteran, Turner served with the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He retired as district manager of Gulf Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Troutville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Evona Tanner Turner; a daughter, Sarah T. Patterson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella N. Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Carol Johnston and Turner's nephew, the Rev. Douglas Turner. Burial will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to King's Christian Academy, 20738 Point Lookout Road, Callaway, Md. 20620, or the Troutville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 309, Troutville, Va. 24175.

Benjamin W. Williams
A service for Benjamin Wyeth Williams, 27, of Elkton, who died Oct. 7, 2004, was held Sunday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Bucky Hunsicker and Dr. Reginald Burgess officiate. Burial was private.
Pallbearers were Seth Moore, Joey Groah, Don Bowman and Jonathan Smith.

Troy J. Witt
Troy John Witt 83, of Bassett, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Arrangements will be announced by Bassett Funeral Service.

Edith M. Bell
Edith M. Bell, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Henry, died Oct. 14, 2004, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Myrtle Presley Anderson, and husband, Archibald A. Bell.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald A. Ventgen of Terrebonne, Ore., and Russell V. Bell of Redmond, Ore.; three brothers, Eugene Anderson of Baltimore, Md., Carlos Anderson of Lakeland, Fla., and Grayson Anderson of London, Ky.; three sisters, Ola Mae Jones of Roanoke, Geneva Johnson of Newhall, W.Va., and Aileen Carter of Roanoke; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday at Flora Funeral Service chapel in Rocky Mount. The Rev. Rick Poland officiated. Entombment was in Henry Memorial Park.
