Louis E. Musser
ABINGDON -- Funeral services for Louis Eugene Musser will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Abingdon Baptist Church by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. Dr. Steven Pollard will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with full military honors by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 of Bristol, Tenn.
Mr. Musser, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was born in Meadowview and was a member of Abingdon Baptist Church and the Harry Denton Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving with the 6th Division, and was present at the surrender of the Japanese that ended World War II.
He served as chairman of the Board of Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. and was responsible for a number of buildings in and around historic Abingdon as his career as a contractor spanned 40 years. He was a Free Mason with Abingdon Masonic Lodge 48 AF&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah Musser; a daughter, Peggy Martin of Huntersville, N.C.; two sisters, Delephine Sternaman of Bristol Tennessee and Virginia Tignor of Abingdon; a brother, Joe Musser of Bristol Tennessee; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Among survivors are grandchildren, Robin G. Stump, Roger L. Musser, Kip Wallace, Davis S. Musser, Angela Wallace Waldo and Jason Rush; great-grandchildren, Courtney Stump, Nickolas Waldo and Patrick Waldo; and a special friend, Richard Summers.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, where a service will be held at 8 p.m. Abingdon Masonic Lodge 48 will officiate.

Thelma M. Nixon
BALTIMORE -- Thelma Mildred Nixon, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Coeburn, a daughter of the late R.T. and Dora Mae Rorer Lundy. She had lived in Baltimore for the past several years and was the widow of Orville Nixon. She was a retired employee from Proctor Silex Corp. in Baltimore and a former member of Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, William B. Nixon and Joseph F. Nixon, both of Baltimore; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Estes Funeral Home Chapel in Coeburn. The Rev. Don Large will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Coeburn.
Mrs. Nixon was also preceded in death by a son, Jack Donald Nixon.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday in Estes Funeral Home.
James Harmon Pridemore
James Harmon Pridemore, 59, of 21524 Benhams Road, Bristol, Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at his home.
He was born in the Bristol area and lived most of his life here. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Pridemore; three daughters, Polly Pridemore, Ilene Auxier and Jamey Huff, all of Bristol Virginia; a son, James Pridemore of Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, Glenn Pridemore of Bristol Virginia and Bill Pridemore of Hickory, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held at a later time.
There will be no viewing or visitation in Akard Funeral Home.
Claude E. Redman Sr.
NORTON -- Claude E. Redman Sr., 86, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Norton Community Hospital.
He was a son of the late Moscoe and Carrie Redman, and was a charter member of Ramsey Church of God in Norton.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was employed with the former Wise Coal and Coke Co. in Dorchester, Va., and the former Norton Coal Co. Following his coal mining service, he was employed with Daniel's Plumbing and Heating in Norton.
He was the widower of Lola Redman.
Surviving are his wife, Viva Edith Redman; four sons, Samuel "Bud" Redman of Kingsport, Claude E. Redman Jr. of Breinigsville, Pa., Bobby G. Redman of Norton and Freddie L. Redman of Kingsport; a daughter, Ina Mae Willis of Kingsport; a stepdaughter, Judy Miller of East Stone Gap, Va.; a stepson, Andy "Buddy" Willis Jr. of Rogersville, Tenn.; two brothers, Lonnie Redman of Louisville, Ky., and Joe Redman of Mount Carmel, Tenn.; three sisters, Virginia R. Fultz of Mount Carmel, Tenn., Geraldine R. Sturgill of Kingsport and Phyllis R. Ferguson of Wise; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Hagy Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Walter Simms will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Redman was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dannis Redman.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law, Juanita Redman of Kingsport, Judy Redman of Breinigsville, Wilma Redman of Norton and Frances Redman of Kingsport; a stepson-in-law, Joe Miller of East Stone Gap; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Isabel Willis of Rogersville.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home and any time at the home of Edith Redman, 6432 Peters Road in Norton.

Clarence D. Rich
HONAKER -- Clarence D. Rich, 82, of the Nashs Ford Community, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
He lived in the Nashs Ford Community for the past 45 years, was a veteran of World War II and a former employee of SWVCC and Appalachian Construction Co. in Wise, Va.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Hughes Rich; three daughters, Nancy C. Rich and Margaret Rich, both of the home, and Madge Keene of Bristol Virginia; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Hughes Family Cemetery in Nashs Ford by Lebanon Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Musick will officiate.
Among survivors are grandchildren, Samantha Reynolds and Karmen Reynolds.

SOUTHGATE, Mich. -- Memorial services for Loretta Faye Powers Schafran will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Norton. The Rev. Joseph Facura will officiate. Burial will be in Powers Cemetery in Pound.
Mrs. Schafran, 55, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Oak Grove Hospital.
She was a daughter of Lora Powers of Pound and the late Hadley Powers. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving, besides her mother, are her husband, Andrew Schafran; a daughter Elisa Faye Roberts of Springhill, Tenn.; three sisters, Euna Vea Adams of Pound, Bonnie
Johnson of Fairfax, Va., and Letha Branham of Fredericksburg, Va.; four brothers, Walter Powers and Shelvy "Booty" Powers, both of Pound, Gregory Powers of Wise and Freddy Powers of Hamlinville, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Schafran was also preceded in death by a brother, Dallas Powers.
Among survivors are son-in-law Joey Roberts of Springhill; and grandchildren Joseph, Joelle and Laena Roberts.

Elizabeth H. Scott
EMORY, Va. -- A memorial service for Elizabeth Hill Scott will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in Emory United Methodist Church by Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon. The Revs. James Bennington and David St. Clair will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Mrs. Scott, 84, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Harold J. Spears
WISE -- Harold Junior Spears, 37, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident at his place of employment.
He was a son of Shirley Hester of Richmond and the late Harold Spears Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Robin Spears; two sons, Harold Joseph Spears and Joshua Eugene Spears, both of Wise; six sisters, Theresa Boggs of Florida, Rose McFall, Phyllis Mullins and Margie Kendrick, all of Clintwood, Va., Marcella Mullins of Kingsport and Pauline Hale of Virginia; two half-sisters, Jennifer Hester and Angela Hester, both of Virginia; three brothers, Jessie Mullins, Nelson Mullins and Billie Mullins, all of Indiana; and a half-brother, Doug Hester of Virginia.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of Baker Funeral Home in Pound, Va. The Rev. Frank Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Levi Cantrell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
