CHILHOWIE -- Claude A. Blevins Sr., 74, died Saturday, Feb. 5,, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Seaver- Brown Funeral Service in Marion.

John K. Buchanan

RICH VALLEY, Va. -- John K. Buchanan, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Seaver- Brown Funeral Home.

Donna Jo Clarkston

HILTONS, Va. -- Donna Jo Clarkston died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gilliam Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.

George W. Corby

George Washington Corby, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Wadesville, Pa., a son of the late Thomas and Emma Corby, and lived in Bloomfield, N.J. for 58 years before moving to Bristol in 1998.
He was retired from Wallace and Tiernan in Nutley, N.J., and was a member of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Tenn.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Laura Mae Davenport Corby; a daughter, Janice Myers of Bristol Tennessee; a son, David Corby of Bristol Virginia; four grandchildren, John Myers, Laurie Feathers, David Myers and Daniel Myers; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Edward Crook will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in St. Clair, Pa.
Mr. Corby was also preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
Among survivors are son-in-law, the Rev. John A. Myers; and daughter-in-law, Marlene Corby.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and members of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church and friends and members of Brookdale Baptist Church in Bloomfield, N.J.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service in Weaver Funeral Home.

Jalie C. Cox

WISE -- Jalie Carter Cox, 54, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Conway, S.C.
She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ida Kilgore Carter, and was the widow of William J. Cox Jr.
She was of the Pentecostal faith, a homemaker and a former member of Norton Rescue Squad.
Surviving are two sons, William Wesley Cox of Norton and Ricky Cox of Conway; a daughter, Angela Cox of Conway; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Hastings of Lincoln, Del.; a brother, Pinkney Carter of Wise; three sisters, Mary Jane Fultz, Monette Mefford and Joan Proffitt, all of Wise; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise. The Rev. Danny Mefford will officiate. Burial will be in Addington-Hensley Cemetery.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law, Sherry Cox of Norton and Patty Cox of Conway; and grandchildren, Dakota Cox, Caleb Cox, Cheyanne Cox, Joshua Kilgore, Rachel Kilgore and J.W. Hastings.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday in Sturgill Funeral Home.

Vivian A. Davis

Funeral services for Vivian Ann Davis will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in Franklin Street United Methodist Church in Wytheville, Va., by Robinson Mortuary of Bristol, Va. The Rev. Angela Hardy will officiate. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in West End Cemetery. The cortege will leave Robinson Mortuary Monday at 11:30 a.m. for the service in Wytheville.
Mrs. Davis, 52, of 1410 East Cedar St., Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at her home.
Robinson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Blanche E. Dixon

PINEY FLATS, Tenn. -- Graveside services for Blanche E. Dixon will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Cemetery in Piney Flats.
Mrs. Dixon, 72, of 221 Dougherty Private Drive, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Akard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alton P. French

MARION -- Funeral services for Alton P. French will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Seaver- Brown Chapel. Pastor James H. Bangle will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. French, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church and a local businessman for many years.
He was a longtime member of Marion Masonic Lodge 31 AF&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Atkins French; a daughter, Betty F. Russell of Clarksville, Va.; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. Whitlock of Burlington, N.C., and Sara R. Sweet of Raleigh, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren.
Among survivors is son-in-law, David Russell of Clarksville.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in Seaver- Brown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 151, Marion, VA 24354.

Fleta Irene Funk

Funeral services for Fleta Irene Funk will be conducted Monday at 12:30 p.m. in Mountain View Mausoleum by Weaver Funeral Home. Dawson Armitage will officiate.
Mrs. Funk, 96, of 11172 Goose Creek Road, Bristol, Va., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at her home.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the Mausoleum.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thurman G. Gent

HONAKER -- Thurman Glen Gent, 56, of Pine Street, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born in Honaker, a son of the late Glen and Eula Buckles Gent, and spent most of his life in Honaker. He was a truck driver employed with Keene Carpet.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Gent; two stepdaughters, Debra Hess of Lebanon and Kimberly Robinette of Abingdon; two sisters, Gaye Hart and Carolyn Stinson, both of Honaker; a brother, Herman Gent of Lebanon; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Stephen Musick will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Mr. Gent was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Linda Erma Gent.
Pallbearers will be W.L. Gent, David Mullins, Darrell Ritchie, Matthew Hilton, Danny Chaney, Dwayne Buckles, Scotty Burks and Scott Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Keene, Bob Keene, Lynn Keene, James Cook, Todd Robinette, Lawrence Stinson, Wendell Hart, Tim Ball and Curtis Childress.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday in Honaker Funeral Home.

Ned H. Gilmer

CEDAR BLUFF -- Funeral services Ned H. Gilmer will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Revs. Olin Shupe and Eddie Noe will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va., with military graveside rites by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 DAV.
Mr. Gilmer, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke.
He was born in Grundy, a son of the late Newton H. and Margaret Easterly Gilmer, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church and was retired from Jewell Ridge Coal Corp.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George (Marie) Keen of Church Hill, Tenn.; two sons, Kelly Cruey of Independence, Va., and David Gilmer of Roanoke; a sister, Josephine Macdonald of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a nephew.
Mr. Gilmer was also preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Denise Gilmer; a brother, Henry Gilmer; and two sisters, Caroline Henderson and Viola Ratliff.
Among survivors are his companion of 36 years, Maude McGlothlin Cruey Gilmer; grandchildren, Amber Cruey, Rachel Cruey, Jonathan Keen, Jason Keen, Wesley Gilmer and Elana Fisher; and nephew, Brad Macdonald.
He was an avid organic gardener.
Pallbearers will be Jason Keen, Jerry Cruey, Carl Joyce, Billy Joyce, Mark Ball and Guy Glover. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Adair, Ralph Davis, Bruce Russell, Bob Webb, Ed Grimm, L.C. Munsey, Sam Ball, Bobby Whitt, Frank Griffith and Ernest Roisch.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Singleton Funeral Service.
