Mary Ann Horton

KINGSPORT -- Mary Ann Horton, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
She was born in Hawkins County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Mack Daniel and Maude Horton and grew up in the Kingsport area. She moved to Fairfax, Va., in the early 1950s.
She was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Charlie R. Church of Fort Lee, Va., the Rev. Lester Horton of Stephens City, Va., and Andrew J. Horton of Kingsport; a niece; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Winston Sweeney and the Rev. Reed Mullins will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Among survivors are other relatives and a host of friends.
She was formerly married to J.D. Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown.

Jackie P. Hurd

CASTLEWOOD -- Funeral services for Jackie P. Hurd will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Huff-Cook Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood. The Rev. Raleigh Couch will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the National Cemetery at Mountain Home, Tenn.
Mr. Hurd, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Huff-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James D. Ingoldsby

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- James Donald "Don" Ingoldsby, 61, of 108 Limestone Road, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Bristol Virginia, a son of the late James F. and Cornelia Forgey Ingoldsby. He studied engineering and architecture at Virginia Technical Institute and served as a shipboard officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietname War, specializing in electronics.
He was employed with IBM for the past 27 years and was most recently employed as a network architect.
He was a member of Ridgefield Jaycees, was a 32nd degree Mason with the Shelby Lodge in Bristol, Tenn., and was a Shriner in Bristol.
Surviving are his wife, Donna M. Crowninshield Ingoldsby; two daughters, Jamie Ingoldsby-Gillotti and Brandy Ingoldsby, both of Ridgefield; and a granddaughter, Morrigan Gillotti of Ridgefield.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in Ridgefield.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge, Ridgefield, CT 06877 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Suite 500, 1 Selleck St., Norwalk, CT 06855.

Alfred C. Johnson

MENDOTA, Va. -- Alfred C. Johnson, 58, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Akard Funeral Home in Bristol, Tenn.

Patsy Jean Maggard

RICHLANDS -- Funeral services for Patsy Jean Hill Maggard will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Revs. Paul Griffith and Terry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va.
Mrs. Maggard, 45, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
She was born in Richlands, a daughter of the late Luther Paul and Bertha Mae Totten Hill, and was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are her husband, Bobby R. Maggard Sr.; two daughters, Mrs. Micky (Patricia) Ascue of Richlands and Mrs. Bobby (Tammy) Keen of Gray, Tenn.; two sons, Bobby Maggard Jr. and Matthew Maggard, both of Richlands; five brothers, Bill Hill of Roanoke, Roy Hill of Weyers Cave, Va., Harold Hill of Rocky Mount, Va., and Allen Hill and Claude Hill, both of Tazewell, Va.; five sisters, Elizabeth Salyers of Baptist Valley, Va., Jo Salyers of Claypool Hill, Edith Hill of Swords Creek, Va., and Dottie Hatfield and Shelby Steel, both of Bastian, Va.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Maggard was also preceded in death by a brother, James Hill; and a sister, Shirley Osborne.
Pallbearers will be Josh Maggard, Michael Hatfield, Scotty Hill, Jonathan Maggard, Ronnie Hatfield, George Hill Jr., Jody Miller and James Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Singleton Funeral Service.

Willard K. Marshall Sr.

COEBURN -- Willard Kendrell Marshall Sr., 51, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home.
He was a son of the late Oscar Banner and Edrie Violet Hamilton Marshall, a member and past president of Coeburn Lions Club and attended Pippins Chapel.
Surviving are three daughters, V. Joy Seymour, Melinda C. Kilgore and Kimberly R. Nickels, all of Coeburn; a son, W. Kendrell Marshall Jr. of Coeburn; two brothers, Randall Marshall of Coeburn and Banner Marshall of Clintwood; four sisters, Josephine Miles of Tarpon, Va., Shirley Dishman of Sandusky, Ohio, Norma J. Lane of Coeburn and Charlotte Lawson of Sandy Ridge, Va.; two grandsons; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Estes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Nolan Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Old Home Place Cemetery in Coeburn.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday in Estes Funeral Home.

W. Lester Necessary

BLOUNTVILLE -- Funeral services for W. Lester Necessary will be conducted Thursday at 8 p.m. in Charity Baptist Church. The Rev. Perry Cleek will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in East Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Necessary, 85, of 32 Highway 75, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Indian Path Medical Center.
He was born in Appalachia, Va., was a retired service station operator, a former Sullivan County constable and a member of Charity Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Leonard Necessary; a daughter, Teresa "Terri" Carr of Kingsport; three sons, Charles L. "Chuck" Necessary of Blountville, Harold D. Necessary of Chipley, Fla., and Jack L. Necessary of Bristol Tennessee; four sisters, Rose Hicks of Blountville, Jean Hicks of Bluff City, and Elsie Leonard and Naomi McNamara, both of Bristol Virginia; two brothers, Ed A. Necessary of Bristol Virginia and William H. Necessary of Bristol Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Among survivors are daughters-in-law, Donna Necessary and Teresa Necessary; and son-in-law, Bobby Carr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Williams, Gray Taylor, Hank Green, Larry Smith, Ken Segrest, John Hardin, Jack Ketron, and friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Charity Baptist Church.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Ann Newsome

POUND -- Shirley Ann Newsome, 58, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was a daughter of Robert L. Grubb of Clinchco, Va., and the late Anna Grubb, was a member of Independent Baptist Church of Pound and a homemaker.
Surviving, besides her father, are her husband, Theodore Newsome; a son, Randall Newsome of Pound; a brother, Bobby Grubb of Clinchco; two sisters, Darlis Wood of Charlotte, N.C., and Faye Kelly of Clinchco.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise. The Revs. Lee Burnham and William Compton will officiate. Burial will be in Dewey Memorial Cemetery in Pound.
Among survivors are a daughter-in-law, Gidget Newsome of Pound; and a special aunt, Marie Brickey of Fort Blackmore, Va.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a song service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Sturgill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Genevieve Nichols

NORTON -- A Mass of the Ressurection for Genevieve Teresa Nichols will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Norton. The Rev. Joseph Facura will officiate. Entombment will be in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mrs. Nichols, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital.
Hagy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Philip Leo Nichols

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Philip Leo Nichols, infant son of Barry and Beverly Nichols, of 4809 Blackman Road, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000.
Surviving, besides his parents, are paternal grandmother, Helen Nichols of Waverly; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Shirley Pike of Bristol Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in McEwen, Tenn.
Humphreys County Funeral Home in McEwen is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn W. Olewiler

ABINGDON -- Glenn W. Olewiler, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens by Farris Funeral Service. The Rev. Carl Young will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Farris Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
