Clifford Owens

VANSANT -- Clifford Owens, 71, of Route 2, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Kentucky, a son of the late Orbie Alice and Walter Owens, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, a past member of Russell Prater Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department, and was employed in maintenance in the Green Thumb Program at Russell Prater Elementary School.
Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda O. Britter; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Haysi Funeral Home. Elders Elmer Brown and Garnell Gilbert will officiate. Burial will be in Owens-Woods Cemetery, Route 2, Vansant.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a song service will be held at 7 p.m.
Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lula Bell Tittle

Funeral services for Lula Bell Tittle will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Widner will officiate. A private burial will be in the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn.
Mrs. Tittle, 79, of Bristol Tennessee and formerly of Bluff City, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in The Cambridge House.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Cambridge House, Dottie Yates and Loretta Hodge.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mollie S. Whitt

LEBANON -- Mollie Settle Whitt, 99, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Marion Hix and Lou Demma Williams Jones Settle. She grew up in the Belfast section of Russell County where she attended the Dennison one-room school, Stuart Institute and later Radford State Teachers College.
She taught school in both Russell and Tazewell Counties. She was the oldest living member of Dennison United Methodist Church and was the widow of Garrett Hobart Whitt.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Bernice Whitt of Lebanon; a sister, Hazel S. Dye of Richlands; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Russell County Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Tom Edwards and Paul Hite will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitt was also preceded in death by five brothers; four sisters; and three sons, Harold Gene Whitt, James Finney Whitt and Jack Hughes Whitt.
Pallbearers will be John Whitt, Paul Whitt, Clyde Settle, Frank Rasnake, Henry Counts, Dr. Bayes Elwood Wilson, Michael Marchand and Howard Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be William Chambers, Donald Cook, John Van Dyke, Donald Compton, Joe Dye and Jack Hamm.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Russell County Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Dennison United Methodist Church, Route 2, Box 247-P, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609, or Lebanon Baptist Church, P.O. Box 55, Lebanon, VA 24255.

Raymond C. Willen

BLUFF CITY -- Raymond C. Willen, 66, of 301 Hamilton Hill Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Sullivan County, a son of the late Earnest and Virgie Leonard Willen, and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Clara B. Willen; a brother, Melvin Willen of Bluff City; a sister, Margaret Shipley of Bluff City; two nieces; and two nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery by Tetrick Funeral Home Bluff City Chapel. The Rev. Bruce Galyon will officiate.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Tetrick Funeral Home.

George H. Wood Sr.

BLUFF CITY -- Funeral services for George H. "Hop" Wood Sr. will be conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Musick will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the National Cemetery at Mountain Home with military honors by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975 of Bristol.
Mr. Wood, 81, of 1267 Silver Grove Road, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, in the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday before the chapel service in the funeral home or other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, 104 Cypress St., Bristol, TN. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Flora Bell Wyatt

CHILHOWIE -- Funeral services for Flora Bell Wyatt will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Newberry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Middlefork Cemetery.
Mrs. Wyatt, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Valley Health Care Center.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Diversional Activities Group at Valley Health Care Center.
Newberry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Georgie E. Arms

RICHLANDS -- Funeral services for Georgie Edna Arms will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. The Rev. Danny Short will officiate. Burial will be in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands.
Mrs. Arms, 94, of the Hill Creek Road section, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in a Tazewell hospital.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bible Way Church.

James William Ball

Graveside services for James William Ball will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery by Weaver Funeral Home. The Rev. Lester MacKinnon will officiate. military honors will be by VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975.
Mr. Ball, 80, of 2624 Anderson St., Bristol, Tenn., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Meadowview and had lived in the Bristol area since 1957. He was a plumber, a pipefitter and member of Local Union 538. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the widower of Dorothy H. Ball.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty Ball, Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Ratliff and Martha Hinkle, all of Bristol Tennessee; a son, James William Ball Jr. of Laurel Park, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Cannon and Mrs. Ed (Eleanor) Poston, both of Bristol Tennessee, and Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Carter of Abingdon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ball was also preceded in death by a brother, John C. Ball; and a sister, Kathleen Ball.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ratliff, Michael Ratliff, Joe Carter, Bobby Darnell, Charlie Darnell and Hank Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Hiles, Johnny Woodby, Johnny Ball, Wayne Ball, Ed Poston and Charlie Cannon.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

T.L. Bledsoe

KINGSPORT -- T.L. "T" Bledsoe, 72, of 221 Glen Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Siller Payne Bledsoe and D.B. Bledsoe. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 3141. He had been retired for 10 years from Kingsport Foundry, where he served for 42 years.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Edlis Faye Bledsoe; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Carolyn) Gardner of Bristol Virginia, Darlene Bledsoe of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Ronnie (Teresa) Hall of Kingsport; two sisters, Rosa Vannoy of Kingsport and Laurie Barrett of York, Pa.; two brothers, Grady Bledsoe of Okeechobee, Fla., and Patrick Bledsoe of Kingsport; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery by Oak Hill Funeral Home. Isaac "I.W." McNamara will officiate.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Funeral Home.

William E. Gilbert II

Graveside services for William E. Gilbert II will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in American Legion Cemetery in Powell Valley, Va., by Weaver Funeral Home of Bristol. Minister Ed DeVault will officiate.
Mr. Gilbert, 33, of 97 Circle Drive, Bristol, Va., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
