LANGFORD
T. Louise Langford, 77, of Richmond, widow of Richard H. Langford, died May 29, 2001. She is survived by six loving children and their spouses, Almeta and Doug Yandle, Sandra and Gary Knabe, Pamela and Mike Boyer, Richard "Ricky" and Wanda Langford, Robin and Michael Elmore, and Kevin Langford; nine grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Epiphany 10 a.m. Friday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad.

MARTIN
Donna Lowry Martin passed on from this life on May 28, 2001, after a long struggle with cancer. Donna, from Richmond, Va., is survived by her loving children, Ashley, age 9, Christopher, age 12; her husband, Tony; and her sister, Catherine Reaney. Services to be conducted on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the family's church, Discovery United Methodist, 13000 Gayton Rd. Family and friends visitation at 10 a.m. Memorial service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia, P.O. Box 114, Moscoutah, Ill. 62258; or Safe Surfin' Foundation, P.O. Box 31, Bedford, Va. 24523.

MAY
Mr. Ralph May Jr. of Richmond, Va. died in his home on Thursday, May 24, 2001 following a lengthy illness with cancer. He was born on October 28, 1944, son of the late Ralph and Alka "Cookie" May Sr. of Wytheville, Va. Ralph is survived by his partner of 18 years, David J. Domster; along with numerous friends and loved ones. He received his B.S. of English from the University of Richmond and his Master of Education from The University of Virginia. His career began as an educator in Rural Retreat, Va., continued in Richmond, Va., where he excelled as a high school guidance counselor in the Henrico County School System. As an educator, Ralph mentored numerous students who continued to seek his advice and friendship until his death. More recently, Ralph worked as a manager at Verizon and continued to positively influence those around him. He was very active with individual's rights, supporting such organizations as The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, ROSMY, Virginians for Justice and GLOBE. Ralph chose to live life in a manner that elevated everyone around him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2001, 1 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Richmond, 1000 Blanton Ave., Richmond, Va. Immediately following the service, friends of Ralph are welcome at his home to remember his neverending spirit. Memorial contributions may be made to The Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Virginians for Justice, ROSMY or the organization of your choice.

MORGAN
George Vany Morgan ("Apple Man") of Sandy Hook, Va., died at his home on Tuesday, May 29, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Hazel; his son, Donald P. Morgan and his wife, Ann; his daughters, Jane M. Brooking and her husband, James, Julia M. Lloyd and her husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Renee Morris, Danielle and Kristina Brooking, Sandra Hawk, and Jamie and Morgan Lloyd; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary M. Detch of Lewisburg, W.Va. and Betty H. Hall of St. Albans, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. George faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. His remains rest at the Lacy Funeral Home, Route 522, Mineral, Va. where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1 with interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goochland County Company No.5 Rescue, Oakland Baptist Church, or the Hospice of Central Virginia.

MORTON
Leonidas Bradford Morton Sr. of Henrico departed this life on May 28, 2001. His wife, Azleigh Wallace Morton of 65 years and a son, L. Bradford Morton Jr., a former vice president of United Virginia Bank preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Clarise Morton Jones, Jacquelyne Morton Bradley, Jean Morton Howard, Shirley Ann Morton; two sons-in-law, Robert M. Howard and Wilbur Jones; two grandchildren, Adam Leonidas Howard and Leland S. Morton; several cousins and friends. He was a former employee of the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for over 30 years. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. After 10 a.m. Friday, his remains will rest at St. Phillips' Episcopal Church, 2900 Hanes Ave., where funeral rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Interment at Riverview Cemetery.

NOTO
Salvatore J. Noto, founder of Technair Labs, a pioneer in aromatics, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at the age of 85 of complications brought on by a stroke. A U.S. Army corporal in WWII, he was a gunsight instrument specialist with the 510th Ordnance Co., Heavy Maintenance, Field Army. A perfumer by profession, he built Technair in Rahway, N.J. and grew the substantial aerosols packaging industry. His hobbies included golf, horticulture and landscaping. Singing since he was a boy, he was much sought by churches as a tenor soloist and belonged to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Richmond. He is survived by Elizabeth B. Noto, wife; his daughter, Dr. Elizabeth N. Lyons; and a stepson, Col. William N. Stryker (USAFR). In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Memorial services Sunday 4 p.m. at Grace Church.

ROBINSON
Eugertha R. "Auntie" Robinson of Richmond departed this life May 28, 2001. She is survived by her son, Rudolph Robinson; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helena Brown; devoted niece, Berthel Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be conducted on Friday, 12 noon, with Rev. John Johnson officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. SHAFT
Edward M. Shaft, 92, of Conyers, Ga., formerly of Richmond, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy B. Shaft; and a brother, Charles M. Shaft. He is survived by three sisters who live in Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaft was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was Past Master of Sandston Masonic Lodge No. 216 AF&AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Scottish Rite. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, and followed by Masonic and funeral services. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

TIPTON
Mrs. Ruth Andrews Tipton, 66, of Lottsburg, Va., and formerly of Petersburg, Va., passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, Tappahannock, Va. She was a native of Chesterfield County and was the daughter of Ollie Barfield Soles of Richmond, Va., and the late Clarewood Henderson Andrews. Mrs. Tipton was retired and had worked in security at Philip Morris USA. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Page Lee Tipton of Lottsburg; three daughters, Shelia O. Harlin of Chester, Va., Sandra O. Cash of Oxford, N.C., Angela T. Cherrix of Chesterfield County; four grandchildren, Christopher Adcock, Jessica Munroe, Melissa Greenfield, Heather Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Adcock, Victoria Hughes, Zachary Hughes; two sisters, Delores Harrison, Matoaca, Va., Rachel Getz of Lottsburg, Va.; and her beloved cat, Cane. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 1, 2001, 11 a.m. at the graveside in Southlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Prince George County, with Dr. Ivan W. Perkinson, pastor of Matoaca Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

TOMPKINS
William "Bill" Ritchie Tompkins, 77, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., passed away unexpectedly May 21, 2001, at his home. He was born December 4, 1923, in Charlotte, N.C., and moved to Jacksonville 47 years ago from Richmond, Va. He played football at the St. Christopher's School in Richmond, and then received a scholarship to play at Duke University. Besides football, Bill loved golf. He was a veteran of WWII. His wife, Mary; daughters, Beth and Bell; son, John; grandson, Richard; and many grandchildren survive him.

TURNER
Baby De Andre Lamont and Andre Lamont Andrea Turner entered into eternal rest May 24, 2001. They leave to mourn a mother, Marquetta Nicole Jones; father, Andre Turner; four grandparents; eight great-grandparents; a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 12 noon today, Rev. Kenneth Dennis officiating. Family and friends kindly assemble at Chiles Funeral Home at 11 a.m.

ULLOM
Merilyn R. Ullom entered her eternal life with the Lord on Monday, May 28, 2001, after a relatively short cancer illness. She was cared for and is survived by her loving husband, Jack; her children, Pam and John Hamilton, Cindy and Bob Grissom, Rick and Rita Ullom, and Diane and Richard Vacca. Ma is loved and will be missed by her eight grandsons and one granddaughter. Merilyn is also survived by her mother, Myra Hanley; brothers, Glen and Tommy and their wives; nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins dear to her. She lived and walked with the Lord and will be missed. We all await the day when we will be together again. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the funeral home. Interment Dale Memorial Park. WOODS
Audrey Virginia Harris Woods, 79, of Palmyra, died May 30, 2001, in a Charlottesville hospital. She was born October 9, 1921, in Louisa County, daughter of the late Horace H. and Katie Melton Harris. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Woods; and a grandson, John Griffith. Mrs. Woods was a member of Bybee Road Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William E. "Bill" Woods of Palmyra; one daughter, Kathy Woods Smith of Bryans Rd., Md.; one brother, Hartwell Harris of Capital Heights, Md.; four sisters, Rachel Johnson of Standardsville, Naomi Hawk of Midlothian, Juanita Faris of Palmyra and Edith Madison of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Bobby and Cheri Griffith, and Beau Woods. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Bybee Road Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lowell Vaught. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store.

WOOTEN
Willie Mack Wooten departed this life May 25, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Meredith Wooten; four daughters, Pamela, Carol, Meredith and Kelly; two sons, Darryl and Shawn Wooten; his devoted mother, Mary Alice Wooten of Greenville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; one devoted sister, Dollis Wooten of Newark, N.J.; two devoted brothers, Herbert Lee Wooten of Dinwiddie County and Mitchell Wooten of Greenville, N.C.; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, among them two devoted, Rev. John Barnes of Greenville, N.C., and Geraldine Little; two uncles; mother and father-in-law, Morris and Elaine Burton; one daughter-in-law, Deloris Wooten; eight sisters-in-law, one devoted, Jackie Jones; six brothers-in-law; two devoted friends, Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence V. Smith; one devoted friend of 40 years, Linwood "Hang-down" Reed of Greenville, S.C.; two devoted classmates, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Green; three devoted church members, who visited him often during his lengthy illness, Clarence Thomas, Charlie Mines and Richard Dillerhunt. Mr. Wooten was an employee for the City of Richmond, Department of Utilities, for 32 years. He was a devoted church member of First Union Baptist Church for more than 40 years. He was a member of the J.E. Fountain Memorial Choir for 30 years. He was a member of the Mass Choir, the Men's Choir and assisted the Children's Choir and the Celebration Male Chorus of Richmond, Va., the AA Committee and the Cycle King Motorcycle Club of Richmond, Va. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Friday, 1 p.m. at First Union Baptist Church, 3510 Dill Rd., where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Lawrence V. Smith officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

WORRELL
Elsie Louise Alvis Worrell, 98, of Richmond, died May 30, 2001. She is survived by her son, Clarence L. Worrell Jr.; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Jones Worrell; grandson, Clarence L. Worrell III; great-grandson, Clarence L. Worrell IV; great-granddaughter, Emily Worrell. She was member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

YEATTS
Alice Spain Yeatts, age 86, of Crewe, widow of W. Ryland Yeatts Sr., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Yeatts Clarke of Richmond; five grandchildren, Michael D., James W. and L. Dale Yeatts, Valerie Y. Cooper and Jacquelyn Sue Yeatts; five great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Ward's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Douglas B. Paysour officiating. The family will receive friends at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home Thursday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
