Joshua D. Musick

CLEVELAND, Va. -- Joshua Daniel Musick, infant son of Roger Darrell and Lillian Diane Ball Musick of Route 2, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Roanoke Community Hospital.
Surviving, besides his parents, are a brother, Roger Darrell "R.D." Musick II of the home; paternal grandmother Betty Musick of Cleveland; and maternal grandparents Willis and Darlene Ball of Abingdon.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Crabtree Cemetery on Sandy Ridge.
The family will receive friends an hour before the funeral hour Friday in Honaker Funeral Home.

Mary E. Newman

Mary E. Newman, 82, a resident of Greystone Health Care Center in Blountville, formerly of Bristol Tennessee, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000.
She was a lifelong resident of Bristol Tennessee, a daughter of the late George W. and Bessie Woodby Widner. She was the widow of Lacy H. Newman, a retired employee of Flav-O-Rich and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sisters, Cora Woods and Margaret Wesner, both of Bristol Tennessee; a brother, James Widner of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Kenneth Newman and Jess Neal will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Newman was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. "Bill" Widner.
Among survivors is a special friend, Charlie Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel and other times at the home of a sister, Margaret Wesner, 212 Eastside Drive, Bristol, Tenn.
Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Peterson

BLUFF CITY -- John "J.C." Peterson, 69, of 758 Vickers Road died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Jacksboro, a son of the late John and Bessie Wilson Peterson. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Surviving are his wife, Ilene Marie Peterson; a daughter, Debra Scott of Bluff City; four sons, Randall Peterson and Tracy Peterson, both of Warren, Ohio, and Mark Peterson and Scott Peterson, both of Bluff City; four sisters, Vola Marcum of Bloomfield, Ohio, Cynthia Smith of Clinton, Patsy Burton of Jacksboro and Linda Jones of Kingston; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m. in Grace Baptist Church in Bluff City. The Revs. Vann Seal and Johnny Dillard will officiate. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Morrell Cemetery. Ministers, pallbearers and friends should meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. to attend the service.
Among survivors are son-in-law Larry Scott of Bluff City; daughters-in-law Jody Peterson of Warren and Joyce Peterson and Freida Peterson, both of Bluff City; brothers-in-law Paul Marcum of Bloomfield and R.L. Burton of Jacksboro; and a special brother-in-law, Sherman Light of Churcb Hill.
Pallbearers will be men of Grace Baptist Church and Larry Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren of John "J.C." Peterson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the church or other times at the residence.
Tetrick Funeral Home Bluff City Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mattie G. Price

LEBANON -- Mattie G. Price, 97, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Russell County Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Robert and Martha Williams Johnson. She was a member of Spring City Baptist Church and the widow of Curtis B. Price.
Surviving are three daughters, Nello Vaugh Fields and Betty Ann Martin, both of Lebanon, and Marilynn Taylor of Annandale, Va.; three sons, Curtis B. Price Jr., Sammie D. Price and Jimmy L. Price, all of Lebanon; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Russell County Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Jerry Eggers and Brent Logan, and Paul Young will officiate. Burial will be in Ketron Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Price was also preceded in death by an infant son and daughter; and a son, Harry Lee Price.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Price, Chester Price, Wayne Price, Greg Price, Cliff Price, Mark Price, Eric Price, Daniel Price and Dickie Price.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Russell County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joann C. Statzer

CASTLEWOOD -- Joann Chafin Statzer, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Grover and Elsie Meade Chafin. She attended the Honaker Chapel Church and was a member of Russell County Home Demonstration Club. She was the widow of S.O. Statzer.
Surviving are four daughters, Darcella Campbell and Cathy Shortt, both of Bristol Virginia, and Joretta Horne and Teresa Hicks, both of Castlewood; five sons, Samuel Statzer Jr., Roger Statzer, Gary Lynn Statzer and Mike Statzer, all of Lebanon, and Ricky Statzer of Abingdon; six sisters, Inez Grant, Etta Ruth Boughton and Janice Cole, all of Richmond, Virginia Loftus of Wayland, N.Y., and Lexie Snead and Lucreata Huffman, both of Lebanon; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Russell County Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ted Rasnake and Virgil Musick will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
Pallbearers will be Tim Statzer, Tony Statzer, Robbie Hicks, Kevin Hicks, Greg Horne, Jacob Shortt, Wayne Chafin, Elmo Warner Jr. and Phillip Statzer.
The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home or any time at the residence.
Russell County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marie B. Street

ROWE, Va. -- Marie Nuckles Blankenship Street, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in a Richlands hospital.
She was born in Buchanan County, a daughter of the late Melvin Earl and Eunice Fuller Nuckles. She had lived in Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of Rowe Free Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the widow of Ovil Blankenship and Ralph Street.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Chambers of Raven; a son, David Blankenship of Raven; two grandchildren, Dale Chambers and Shelley Chambers; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ancil Childress and Jerry Harman will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
Mrs. Street was also preceded in death by a brother, Finley Nuckles; and three sisters, Hester Arwood, Irene Minnick and Ruth Coleman.
Among survivors is special son-in-law Hodge Chambers.
Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.

Gladys S. Taylor

MARION, N.C. -- Funeral services for Gladys Smith Taylor will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Lebanon Funeral Home in Lebanon, Va. The Rev. Everette Moorefield will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon.
Mrs. Taylor, of Route 4, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at her home.
Lebanon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Taylor

JONESVILLE -- A memorial service for Robert Allen "Bobby" Taylor will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands. The Rev. Gary Lyons will officiate.
Mr. Taylor, 41, formerly of Jewell Ridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the home of his mother in Jewell Ridge.
He was born in Great Falls, Mont., a son of Barbara Lee Taylor Lewis of Jewell Ridge and the late Paul David Taylor. He had lived in the Richlands area most of his life and on a farm in Jonesville. He was a 1977 graduate of Richlands High School, where he was a state wrestling champion in 1976-77. He was a disabled miner, retiring in 1991 after a rock fall injury. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 29.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Deidra Fisher Taylor; a daughter, Margaret Taylor of Raven; two sons, Blake Fisher Taylor of the home and John Taylor of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Dr. Teresa Whitt of Summerville, S.C., and Cindy Taylor of Trinity, N.C.; two brothers, Rodney Taylor of Oakwood and Jeff Lewis of Cedar Bluff.
Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by a brother, Darrell David Taylor.
He had lived on a farm on Sugar Run Road in Jonesville, where he raised his daughter and was an avid horseman.
Friends may call two hours before the service Saturday in Hurst-Scott Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Lee County Special Education Fund for "Blake's Dad," 5 Park St., Jonesville, VA 24263.

Carl Ray Warren Sr.

ABINGDON -- Carl Ray Warren Sr., 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Washington County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Warren. He was a member of Carvosso United Methodist Church, Abingdon Masonic Lodge 48 AF&AM and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Africa and Italy, and was a barber with Service Barber Shop in Abingdon for more than 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian Tuggle Warren; a daughter, Jane W. Edwards of Abingdon; a brother, James Byron Warren of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a sister, Lois Turley of Abingdon; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Leonard Smith, Fred Parker and Jonathan Jonas will officiate. Burial will be in Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Mr. Warren was also preceded in death by a son, Ray Warren Jr.; and two brothers, Ralph and Richard Warren.
Among survivors are grandson Rob Edwards of Abingdon and several cousins.
Pallbearers will be announced. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hawkins, Earl O'Quinn, Bill Coalson, Curtis Junior Warren, Mike Warren, Harold Warren, Roger Cunningham, Millard Cunningham, Johnnie Warren, Roscoe "Dick" Warren, Jim Vance, Lee Pearce, Sammy Campbell, Clyde Wise, Gene Wise, Dean Roark, Bill Boyd; nephews Frank Blair, Eddie Jonas, George Shrader, Randy Boardwine, Lewis Tuggle, David Tuggle, Charles Tuggle, Curtis Tuggle, Donnie Eastridge, Matt Branson, Alan Branson, Steve Branson and Marty Smith; and Dr. Andrew Rhinehart, Dr. Willis Moody, Dr. Forrest Swan Jr., Dr. Ellison Conrad, Dr. Scott Shaffer and the men of Carvosso United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in Farris Funeral Service.
