WINDSOR -- Wilma Mae Hargrave Holland, 79, of the 7200 block of Rosewood Lane, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Louise Obici Hospital, Suffolk. A native of Sussex County and a homemaker, Mrs. Holland attended New Harvest Fellowship in Zuni.
Survivors include her husband, Morrison Holland; two daughters, Carolyn H. Stephenson of Windsor and Shirley Leigh Oliver of Richmond; two brothers, Earl Hargrave and Jesse Hargrave, both of Wakefield; two sisters, Hylah Clarke of Wakefield and Annie Fuller of Newport News; two grandsons, Russell Stephenson and Scott Harrison; and two great-grandchildren, Craig Stephenson and Rebecca Stephenson.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, with her daughter, the Rev. Shirley Oliver officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Maggie E. Jones
SMITHFIELD -- Maggie Edwards Jones, 77, of the 200 block of Lumar Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Louise Obici Hospital, Suffolk.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a homemaker. Mrs.
Jones was a member of Isle of Wight Christian Church. She was predeceased by her husband, George Edward
Jones and grandchildren, Joseph Edward
Jones and Dina Christine Bowden.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, with Pastor Allen Dooley officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Colonial Funeral Home and other times at the home of George and Phyllis Jones, 229 Cary St., Smithfield.
H. Ray Lowe
SMITHFIELD -- Hurley Ray Lowe, 86, died Sept. 21, 1999.
Born Nov. 15, 1912, in Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late Linwood Larkins and Annie Whitley Lowe and widower of Gladys Hollowell Lowe. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Lowe Joyner, great-granddaughter, Amy Lynn Perry, and stepson, William Forrest Hollowell.
Mr. Lowe was a member of Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and as the Men's Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Nansemond Lodge No. 77 AF & AM and past master of Chuckatuck Lodge No. 77. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding.
Survivors include his son, Paul Lowe of Smithfield; two daughters, Eleanor L. Norville and Martha L. Chappell of Smithfield; stepsons, Morris Hollowell of Suffolk, Franklin Hollowell of Hobbsville, N.C., Julian Hollowell of Smithfield; stepdaughters, Jo Anne Fowler of Suffolk, Margaret Lamb of Hertford, N.C.; sisters, Della Sawyer and Virginia Davis, both of Norfolk, Sarah Lankford of Suffolk; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Leonard presiding. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Donnie M. Stott
GATES -- Donnie Meeks Stott, 66, of Oak Haven Rest Home in Greenville and formerly of Gates, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999.
Mr. Stott was born in Wilson County, N.C. The son of the late William M. and Grace Murray Stott, he was formerly a buyer for Thalheimers Department Stores and later retired as a manager with Picadilly Cafeterias. He was a member of Highland Springs Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Survivors include two sisters, Clara S. Mangum of Stokes, N.C., and Glennie M. Rivera of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Jim C. Stott of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Billy Presley. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville. The family will assemble at the grave at 10:30 a.m. Friday for services.

ELIZABETH CITY -- Roosevelt Ruben ``Buster" Wright, 80, of the 700 block of South Road St., died Sept. 19, 1999. A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount Lebanon AME Zion Church. Walson Funeral Service is in charge.
Virginia T. Clendenin
HAYES -- Virginia Thomas Clendenin of Cherry Point Lane died Sept. 20, 1999, at the age of 83. She retired in 1975 from the U.S. District Court, Newport News, as a deputy clerk. Prior to that, she worked for the city Treasurer's Office. Virginia was a member of Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church, Newport News.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred C. Clendenin; a brother, Merritt W. Thomas and his wife, Louise; brother-in-law, Ralph L. Wingrove; four nieces, Beth Wingrove Orga and her husband, Randy, Ellen Wingrove, Mary Leigh Crain and Susan Lemley; two nephews, Lester Wingrove and his wife, Yvonne, and Merritt Thomas Jr.; a great-nephew, Michael Wingrove; and two great-nieces, Emily Wingrove and Lauren Orga.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Gloucester Point Cemetery by the Rev. Rudy Tucker. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Mary Howard
INVERNESS, Fla. -- Mary Butler Howard, 82, formerly of Norfolk, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999.
She was born in Hampton and was a longtime resident of Norfolk before moving to Inverness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Benjamin Howard, who died Dec. 15, 1977.

CHESAPEAKE -- Ola Waye Marttila, 68, died Sept. 3, 1998. A loving and devoted mother, she will be dearly missed by her children.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, and a service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park.
Oliver C. Midgett Sr.
CHESAPEAKE -- Oliver Chaytor Midgett Sr., 49, of the 500 block of Rebel Road, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, in Cheaspeake.
Mr. Midgett was born in Morristown, N.J., and was the son of the late George Oliver Chaytor Midgett and Mary Elizabeth Langan Midgett. He was a graduate of Great Bridge High School and past president of the Great Bridge Ruritan Club. Mr. Midgett was employed as a planner with Norfolk Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. for the past 25 years. Chaytor was an avid waterman and enjoyed time with his family on the Outer Banks.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Catherine Ann Midgett; his son, Oliver Chaytor Midgett Jr. and his daughter, Meaghan Elizabeth Midgett, all of Chesapeake; his sister, Mary Midgett Harrison of Powhatan, Va.; his brother, George Joseph Midgett of Forest, Va.; and five nieces.
The funeral service and viewing will be private. Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452.
Lucille H. Mitchell
CHESAPEAKE -- Lucille Hazel Mitchell, 77, of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd., died Sept. 7, 1998.
A native of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., she was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Women's Army Corps and a nurse's assistant at Portsmouth Convalescent. She was a member of Union Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Beasley Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two daughters, Kaye Swain of Chesapeake and Teresa Olive of Suffolk; two sons, Larry Nanney of Norfolk and Jack Nanney of Suffolk; one sister, Ruby Echols of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; three brothers, Hubert Whitten of Lawrenceburg, Howard Whitten of Calhoun Falls, S.C., and Leo Whitten of Sun City, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Park by the Rev. Allen L. Dooley. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be at 1048 St. Julian Drive, Chesapeake.
