Surviving are four sisters, Martha Yarborough, Viola Austin, Elsie Dabney and Mamie Clarke; one brother, Herman Gaines; two nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces, one great-nephew, four great-great-nieces, three great-great-nephews, host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. After 12 noon Saturday, remains will rest in Seven Pines Baptist Church, 516 E. Departed this life July 31, 2002, Mrs. Alice Pauline Drew of 2114 Fifth Ave. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Helen W. Matthews. She is survived by her husband, William R. Drew Sr.; two daughters, Sharon Lewis and Shinse Drew; four sons, William R. Jr., Radford G., Dwight F. and Kevin L. Drew; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Washington; two aunts, Ruth W. Jordan and Mattie W. Scott; one uncle, Harvey M. Williams; one niece, one nephew and cousins; and other relatives, among them, Phyllis Fleming and Gridell Turner; and friends. Catherine Carroll (Kitty Bell) Elmore, 71, of Glen Allen, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. She is survived by her husband, William E. (Billy) Elmore; two daughters, Tammie Ellington and her husband, Cliff of Urbanna and Pansy Lathrop and her husband, Mike of Boulder, Colo.; two stepchildren, Adriel Edwards and William E. Elmore Jr.; a sister, Marion Kyle; a brother, Bierne Carroll Jr.; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Travis, Russell, Amber, Sarah, Skyler and Ashley; and seven stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bierne and Lula Carroll; two sons, Richard I. Bell III and Ricky Carroll Bell. FELTON
Staley Lee Felton, retired coordinator of International Sales for Mobil Chemical Company, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2002. A native of Nansemond County, Va., a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he received a BS Degree in Chemistry from Virginia Tech where he was vice president of the class of 1950. Staley was a former member of the Young Men's Brotherhood of Highland Park, American Chemical and National Agricultural Chemical Associations. An active member of Northside Baptist Church since 1952 where he served in many leadership capacities, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Sims Felton; his children and their spouses, John Sims and Donna Felton, Larry Lee Felton, Stephen and Beverly Felton Choquette and Staley Alan and Jo Ann Felton; grandchildren, Jesica Felton, Thomas Felton, David Choquette and John Choquette; stepgranddaughter, Michelle Apple; stepgreat-grandchildren, Kelly Frazier and Christian Apple; his brothers and their wives, Delman and Bennie Felton and Samuel and Maybell Felton; sister-in-law, Vivian Felton; and brother-in-law, Raymond Hollowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cennie Felton; sister, Jane Hollowell; and brother, Marvin Felton. Staley is also survived by his Manor Care Health Care family of five years. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. GIBBS
Jessie E. Gibbs, age 78, of Alberta, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Thompson of Victoria; three brothers, John Gibbs of Petersburg, Claude Gibbs of Wilsons, Tommy Gibbs of DeWitt; three sisters, Edna Williams of Petersburg, Doris Ferrell of Colonial Heights, Sarah Ocile Beville of Petersburg; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3 at the Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, Blackstone, with interment in the Havens Family Cemetery, Alberta. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lion of Judah Academy.

GOLLADAY
C. Irvin Golladay, 91, of 107 South Summit Ave., Woodstock, Virginia, passed away Wednesday at his home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock with Reverend John F. Taylor Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Massanutten Cemetery, Woodstock. Mr. Golladay was born August 19, 1910 in Forrest Glenn, Md., son of the late Thomas Fletcher and Olive Carrier Golladay. He served in the Merchant Marines and later made his living as a bricklayer. Mr. Golladay was married to the late Ethel Lorraine Barrow Golladay, and together they were members of The United Methodist Church of Woodstock. He is survived by his son, Donald I. Golladay of Richmond; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Pallbearers will be Tim Dalke, John Golladay, Allen Peer, James Allamong, Bill Golladay, and Charles French. Dr. Harold Miller, Doc Shank and Toby Boyd will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. HARNEY
Arline Frances Harney passed from this world on July 23, 2002. Beloved wife of Edward Harney Sr.; cherished mother of Darlene Stone, Dorothy Harney, Debra Butler and Edward Jr.; adored by grandchildren, Morgan, Lindsey, Paige, Megan, Liam and Brenna. An honors English teacher and administrator of English Studies for the Massapequa School District on Long Island, N.Y., she retired in 1992. Active in numerous student, professional and social activities, she will be missed by all whom she touched. She had the mind of a thinker, the soul of a dreamer and the heart of a trusted friend. She will be eulogized in a cathedral in New York in December and laid to final rest in St. Michael's Cemetery in Queens, N.Y.

HASHER
Eugene Bailey Hasher, 55, of Palmyra, died July 31, 2002. He was born April 21, 1947, the son of Adell Jones Hasher and the late Otis Pryor Hasher. He was a member of Bybee Road Baptist Church, retired from Central Virginia Electric Co-op; a lifetime member of Fluvanna Co. Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of the Fluvanna Co. Volunteer Rescue Squad. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Melton Hasher of Palmyra; a son, Jeremiah "Jeremy" David and wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Amy Elizabeth and fiance, Robert Hall, all of Palmyra; a sister, Brenda H. Boatwright and husband, Danny of Richmond; a brother, Otis P. Hasher Jr. and wife, Amy of Palmyra. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, Va. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3 at the Bybee Road Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Richard Clore and Rev. Lowell Vaught, with interment to follow in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fluvanna Co. Volunteer Fire Dept. or Rescue Squad.

HUCKSTEP
Mary Alma Huckstep, 87, of Highland Springs, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2002. She was the widow of William James Huckstep Sr. and is survived by her son, William James Huckstep Jr.; two sisters, Virginia Brooks and her husband, Charles of Shacklefords, Va. and Elizabeth Mae Shafer of Bridgeton, N.J.; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and was retired from Lygett & Meyer Tobacco Co. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday. Lucy Pelham Jones, 93, of Richmond, cousin of Eleanor W. Boyd, entered eternal rest July 29, 2002. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William (Pee-Dee) Jones. KELLEY
Beverly Britt Kelley, 64, of Richmond, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Emmett Robertson Kelley; two daughters, Elizabeth Kelley Weber and her husband, Richard Alan Weber and Katharine Kelley Mauck and her husband, John Waller Mauck; and four grandchildren, Katharine Scott Williams, Sierra Nicole Weber, John Robertson Weber and Elizabeth Cummings Mauck. Mrs. Kelley graduated from the Bartram School for Girls in Jacksonville, Fla. and from Hollins College. She was a long-standing member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she had taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild. Mrs. Kelley was a sustainer of the Junior League of Richmond and did volunteer work at the William Byrd Community House and for the Historic Richmond Foundation. She was a longtime member of The Westwood Club. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3 at All Saints Episcopal Church. LOHWASSER
Dan Allen Lohwasser II lost his lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on July 31, 2002 at the age of 53. A native of Richmond, Va., Dan resided in Charlotte, N.C. for the past 17 years. A decorated Vietnam veteran, he valiantly served his country as a helicopter pilot. Dan subsequently began his career at the Raleigh News and Observer while attending the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where he graduated in December of 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. Dan continued his illustrious career with the United Press International in 1975 as a general news and sports reporter in Raleigh, N.C., and was promoted to Charlotte Bureau Manager. He was named UPI's Carolinas' sports editor and held that position until October, 1984 when he joined The Charlotte Observer. While with UPI, he was a regular on the annual Atlantic Coast Conference football writers' tour and at the ACC basketball tournament. He also covered the court martial of Robert Garwood, the only American soldier tried for aiding and abetting the enemy during the Vietname War, as well as several other stories that received national recognition. In January of 1986, Dan joined Muhleman Marketing and was intensely involved with Jerry Richardson as he began his quest to obtain the NFL Carolina Panthers, and the ownership group to procure the first-ever NBA franchise in Charlotte. He also worked closely with Rick Hendrick, a client and personal friend, during his tenure at Muhleman. He joined forces with Hendrick Motorsports in July 1998 as Marketing Director. His primary achievements included securing sponsorships for the four Winston Cup teams, two Busch Grand National teams and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series teams. Dan was awarded the Robert Gee Award of Excellence in 2000. This prestigious honor is awarded annually to the Hendrick Motorsports team member best displaying outstanding job performance, leadership, teamwork, and for contributions above and beyond expectations in order to help the organization succeed. Unselfish and generous, he exemplified a true humanitarian. These endearing qualities touched the lives of all who knew and loved him. It was his engaging personality that made him so popular; he greeted adversity with a smile and his quick wit often brought calm to a tense situation. As a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and friend, he is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Paula J. Lohwasser; son, Dan A. Lowhasser III; Heidi and Paal Klykken; mother, Jeanette Lohwasser; sisters, Susan Lohwasser and Beverly Hennessey; brother, Curtis Lohwasser; and granddaughter, Madison Lohwasser. Visitation will be from 6 until 10 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2002 at the Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, N.C. A memorial ceremony celebrating the life of Dan Allen Lohwasser will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, N.C. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery East, Matthews, N.C. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28204, "directed toward a future Hospice Facility" in memory of Dan A. Lohwasser II.

MANN
Edward M. Mann, age 89, died August 1, 2002 in Farmville. The widower of Elsie B. Mann, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Hamersly of Miami, Fla.; one son, Edward W. Mann Jr. of Nags Head, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Pierce of Portsmouth and Mrs. Estelle Mitchell of Madison Heights; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, Farmville, where services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens. Masonic Rites by the Farmville Masonic Lodge No. 41 A.F.&A.M. Remembrances may be made to the Farmville Masonic Lodge in his memory.

McCANN
William T. McCann, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died on July 27, 2002. A graduate of University of Virginia, Mr. McCann coached basketball at several state colleges and universities in Virginia and was later a realtor in Virginia and South Carolina. Mr. McCann was a WWII Marine Corps Captain and was buried in the National Cemetery in Beaufort, S.C. He is predeceased by his son, Michael Henderson McCann. He is survived by his wife, Patricia F. McCann; a son, William T. McCann Jr.; a daughter, Betty M. Thompson; a stepson, William E. Ingram; a stepdaughter, Patricia I. Grambling; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The McCann family has requested that contributions be made to The Virginia Home for Boys, 8716 West Broad Street, Richmond, Va. 23294.

NEWMAN
William "Willie/Jake" Vincent Newman III, 59, of Chesterfield, died Thursday, August 1, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, William V. Newman Jr. and Mary B. Burns; also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas E., Kenneth W. and Joseph F. Newman. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Joyce Marie Newman; two sons, Paul and Stephen Newman; two daughters, Vickie Shull and Pamela Passarge; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, four grandsons and six granddaughters. He is survived by one brother, David "Buck" Newman and sister-in-law, Annie; two sisters and a host of relatives and loyal friends. He was a member of Plumbers Local No. 10 and an active member and sponsor for AA. He was also a member of the Crescent Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002 at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday.
