ROGERS
Reba R. Rogers, 71, of Chesterfield, departed this life suddenly on July 31, 2002. She was preceded in death by a son, David M. Rogers and is survived by her children, Peggy Newton, Frank Rogers, Terrance Rogers, Roy Rogers, Patsy Starke, all of Chesterfield and George Rogers of Florida; five sisters, one brother, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Carolyn Brock. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Dale Memorial Park. The Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

SCHUSTER
Veronica T. Schuster of Savannah, Ga. died July 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ceil and Peter Schuster. She is survived by an aunt and cousins. The family's eternal thanks go to her devoted friends, Melinda Walker and family, who gave her such loving care and support.

SHELBY
Columbia Lee Lewis Shelby, 97, of Hopewell, died, Thursday, August 1, 2002. She was born in South Hill and had lived in this area 72 years. Mrs. Shelby was a homemaker and a member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry John and Ella Wade Lewis; and her husband, Lionel Theodore Shelby. Surviving is a sister, Ella Lewis Cloninger of Hopewell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 in Powers Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. The family earnestly requests that flowers be omitted. The family is being served by the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.

TAYLOR
Virginia Ruth (White) Taylor, 86, of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community, Harrisonburg, Va., died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Sunnyside. Born May 7, 1916 in Churchville, she was a daughter of the Rev. William Chester White, D.D. and Martha (Finley) White. She was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College and a lifelong Presbyterian. On June 22, 1940, she married the Rev. Richard Feild Taylor, D.D. (1913-1999). She is survived by a son, George Keith Taylor of Swoope; two daughters, Martha Finley Taylor Sutton of Greensboro, N.C. and Jennie Ragland Taylor Shirey of Cave Creek, Ariz.; two sisters, Lucilla Whitted and Elisabeth Willard, both of Wilmington, N.C.; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethel Chapel at Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond. Memorials may be made to Massanetta Springs Conference Center, 712 Massanetta Springs Rd., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801; or Massanutten Presbyterian Church, 50 Indian Trail Rd., Penn Laird, Va. 22846. Bear Funeral Home, Churchville, is handling arrangements.

WEST
Corey M. West Sr. of Richmond departed this life Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

WHITAKER
George Whitaker Jr. "Pops," 82, of Chesterfield, gave up the ghost on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. He is survived by one brother, two sons, one daughter, one son-in-law, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many friends. "Star-Dust to Star-Dust." Amen. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive freinds 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.

WILLIS
Mrs. Lillian Marie Willis went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2002. A dedicated employee of J.C. Penney's (Regency Square), she is survived by her devoted husband, Deacon Roy Edward Willis; two sons, Leon E. and Calvin N. Willis; daughter-in-law, Robin J. Willis; two grandchildren, Erika Phipps and Katelyn Harris; two sisters, Loise Square and Pauline Robinson; one brother-in-law, Deacon Samuel D. Willis, Newark, N.J.; two sisters-in-law, Ann Willis and Pearl Willis; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Mrs. Diamond Watson. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where her family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. After 9 a.m. Saturday her remains will rest at Sharon Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Rev. Dr. Paul Allen Coles officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

WINGFIELD
Deacon Junius A. Wingfield of Richmond entered eternal rest July 30, 2002. He is survived by nine nieces, one devoted, Henrietta and her husband, Rev. Bobby L. Gattison; seven nephews, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a host of relatives and friends. Remains rest at the F.E. Dabney Funeral Home, Henry St., Ashland. Funeral Saturday, 11 a.m. at New Chestnut Baptist Church, 7230 Chestnut Church Rd., Mechanicsville. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to funeral service. The Dabneys' Morticians in charge of arrangements.

WINSTON
Archie E. "Bro" Winston was called home on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. He is survived by his devoted wife, Augustine Winston; two sons, Archie Winston of Richmond and Junius Winston of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Lillian Winston; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Mrs. Mary A. White; uncle, William Thomas Winston of Richmond; four aunts, Mrs. Mable Campbell, Mrs. Henrietta Morton of Alexander, Mrs. Rosa Lee Winston and Mrs. Susie Sears; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Davis; one brother-in-law, Theodore Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, one devoted niece, Renee Hubbard. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, 12 noon, with Minister Alexander Claiborne officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. ANDERSON
Dr. James Jeter Anderson Sr., PhD., 73, of 9682 Batesville Road, Afton, and formerly of Richmond, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. He was born May 3, 1929 in Charlottesville, a son of Jeter Hamilton Anderson and Edith Critzer Anderson Coffman. Dr. Anderson was a graduate of Rockfish Valley High School, and earned his PhD. from the University of Virginia. He was a senior scientist at Albright & Wilson America's, receiving 14 U.S. patents and foreign equivalents. He actively participated in Little League; Girl Scouts; church activities at Hebron Baptist Church, including the choir; politics; and the University of Virginia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Anderson Simmons; and a sister, Nettie Jane Anderson Hamric. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie M. Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, James Jeter "Jay" Jr. and Holly J. Anderson; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Anderson and Larry M. Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Fontaine Anderson and George W. Fox Sr.; and six grandchildren, Brandon Simmons, Melissa Anderson, Morgan Anderson, Christopher Smith, Millicent Smith, and James Jeter "Chip" Anderson III. A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Baptist Church by the Revs. Jim Ailor, John Chafee, Whitney Critzer, and Marvin Kerby. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro. BAILEY
Ruth S. Bailey, age 90, of Richmond, died August 31, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley M. Dixon and husband, William; her sisters, Leatha Milligan, Gladys Karst, Geraldine Whetsell, and Susen Merritt, all of Charleston, S.C.; her granddaughters, Karen Gunn and husband, Randy, Ann-Marie Houghtaling and husband, Scott. Mrs. Bailey was a volunteer at Henrico Doctors' Hospital and a member of Parents Without Partners. The family will receive friends at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

CARLTON
Lelia N. Carlton, age 68, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2002. She is survived by her loving husband, G. Burt Carlton; sons, Peer D. Nielsen and Steven D. Nielsen; daughters, Holly Fitzgerald; and stepdaughter, Kay Cronfill; also seven grandchildren; sisters, Lois Potter, Glenda Goin, Judi Dellinger; and brother, Jerry Willis. The family will receive visitors at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday. CROMER
Fred Julius Cromer, 86, passed on to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 31, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Cupp Cromer; his eldest son, Charles and his wife, Gail and his youngest son, Robert and his wife, Karen. He will be laid to rest in Blacksburg, Va., on September 2, 2002.

DABNEY
Raymond B. Dabney of 1502 Lone St. departed this life at MCV Hospital August 28, 2002. He is survived by four children, Ida Thomas, Ivan Smith, Damione Lee, and Raymond Winston; mother, Kathleen Dabney; brother, Rickey Dabney; three grandchildren, three uncles, two aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a devoted health care giver, Lydia Viney; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull Street. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 105 E. Pilkington St. Eulogy by Dr. L.B. Samuel. Interment family Cemetery, Perkinsville, Goochland Co., Va. Relatives and friends attending services assemble at the church Tuesday, 1:30 p.m.

Wayne W. Eacho, 52, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne W. Eacho Jr., and his father, Harold W. Eacho. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Coghill and her husband, Shawn; a stepson, Curtis Owens; his mother, Bertha L. Eacho; four brothers, Michael, Melvin, Richard and Clyde Eacho. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, where a celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Evelyn F. Franklin, 89, of Richmond, died September 1, 2002. She was the widow of Willis Lee Franklin. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia F. Lyons, Cheryl F. Brooks and husband, Donald, and Carol F. Mount and husband, Wayne; one sister, Amy F. Nuckols; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Franklin was very active with the Richmond Senior Center and a Senior Bowling League. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Catherine T. Godsey, 80, of Hanover, died August 31, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon E. Godsey; son, Julian Clifton Godsey Jr.; nephew, Philip H. Williams and wife, Barbara J.; three grandchildren, Rachel Matthews, Christopher Godsey, and Angela Fuller and husband, Jody; sister, Emma Fox; sister-in-law, Louise G. Dement; brothers-in-law, Wilson D. Godsey and Nick Doumlele; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002.
