WEAVER
Joseph P. Weaver of Richmond departed this life Sunday, September 1, 2002. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral notice later.

WEBB
Mr. William (Bill) P. Webb, 76,of Chesterfield County, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Nora Bishop Bowman and Marshall R. Webb. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mrs. Ann B. Webb of Chesterfield County; two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl W. Arney and son-in-law, Mr. Tim Arney of Burke, Virginia, Ms. Tina Webb and friend of the family, Ms. Lissa Belongia of Chesterfield County; two grandsons, Mr. Ross Arney and Mr. Paul Arney of Burke, Virginia; sister-in-law, Mrs. Cecil B. Young of Richmond; and niece, Nan B. Sharp of Richmond; sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret B. Powell; and brother-in-law, Mr. Wesley Powell of Chester, Virginia; nephew, Mr. Don Michael Powell of Friendswood, Texas; and one brother, Mr. Marshall R. Webb Jr. of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Mr. Webb was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He served proudly in the armed forces in both the Navy during World War II and later in the Army during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge from both branches. He served on the Colonial Heights School Board from 1968 to 1992, and was elected Chairman of the school board in 1972. Mr. Webb was the longest continuously serving board member in Colonial Heights. He worked for the State of Virginia Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services for 25 years and after the General Assembly voted to provide mental health services to localities throughout the state of Virginia, he was appointed Executive Director of District 19 and served there for 12 years. When he began his work with the state, there were only 12 mental health clinics in the state. During his tenure with the state, he opened 26 additional mental health clinics in the state of Virginia. He retired from state service in 1990. When he retired there were a total of 38 clinics across the state of Virginia. Mr. Webb will be remembered as a loving friend to Mr. Jack Fowlkes of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Mrs. Lynn Eades Foy of Colonial Heights, Virginia. "All his beauty, wit and grace lie forever in one place, he who sang and sprang and moved, now in death is only loved." Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

WILLIAMS
Diane D. Crawley Williams, age 43, passed on August 29, 2002. She is survived by her husband, June Williams; three sons, Shon, Andre Sr., and Kenyan Crawley, all of Richmond; four grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Jr., Alonzo Sr., and Marcellus Crawley; a host of other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Monday 5 to 6 p.m. Remains will lie in state Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2705 Hartman St., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Rev. Garland W. Jones officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

WOO
Yuk Hun Chin Woo (Vivian H. Woo), born November 24, 1918, passed away on September 1, 2002. She is survived by six children, Shee Ping Woo, Lin S. Woo, Jeanne S. Kwong, Frank S. Chinn, James S. Chin and Donnie S. Chin; one brother, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and where services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Riverview Cemetery.

WOODARD
Sharon Murray Woodard, 45, died Sunday, September 1, 2002. She is survived by her partner, Shelly Smith of Richmond; her ex-husband and dear friend, Ron Woodard of Tappahannock; two daughters, Krissy Woodard of Richmond, and Brittany Woodard of Tappahannock; one brother, Rick Murray of Abingdon; and one granddaughter, Kaitlynn Woodard of Richmond. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

WOODSON
Catherine A. Couch Woodson (Auntie), age 82, of 1715 N. 20th St., departed this life on Thursday, August 29, 2002. She is survived by a loving and devoted sister, Ann Christian; and her loving and devoted nephew, Howard Couch; three grandnephews, Randall Couch, James Junie and William Martin; god sister, Mildred Scott; great-niece, Taneisha Bostic; and a host of other relatives and friends, including Edith Williams, Henry Haskins and Willie Wilburn. Her remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral rites will be 12 noon Tuesday, September 3, at Goodwill Baptist Church, 401 N. Monroe St., Rev. James Ryan officiating. Katherine Keller Young, age 82, of Crewe, died Sunday, September 1, 2002. She was the widow of Robert O. "Mutt" Young. She is survived by a daughter, Greta Young Simons and husband, Noel of Blackstone; a granddaughter, Robin Simons Harmon and husband, John of Blackstone; two sisters, Cora Keller Sutherland and Doris Keller Francis and husband, Lewis B., all of Crewe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at Crewe Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe, Va.

ATKINS
George W. Atkins, age 94, of Glen Allen, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary Atkins; one daughter, Marion Orr of Freeport, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jackie Blanchard and Jeffery Greene; four great-grandchildren, Jamilla Johnson, Joel Taylor, Shaquille Greene, Tiana Greene; one great-great-grandchild, Jade Johnson. Mr. Atkins owned Atkins Limousine Service in New York and was a member of Westhampton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at K.L. AUSTIN
Eva C. Austin, of Keysville, Virginia, passed away May 7, 2001 at Holly Manor Nursing Home in Farmville after a brief illness. She was born April 19, 1914 in Flasher, North Dakota to Elva and Otta Schoening. Eva was an active member at Ash Camp Baptist Church and Operation Blessing. She worked closely with Piedmont Geriatric Hospital. She was a member of Eastern Star Robert Morris Chapter 150. Ms. Austin was a sergeant in the WACS during World War II, serving as a chauffeur in Washington, D.C., for such military personnel as General Patton and General Eisenhower. Upon her discharge from the Army, she worked in the Pentagon until her retirement in 1978 when she and Perry moved to Keysville. She is survived by three sisters, Elsie Rotte, Post Falls, Idaho, Alice Ulrich, Seattle, Washington, and Mary Jane Drennon, Yawkey, West Virginia; one brother, Clifford Schoening, Bremerton, Washington. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Ash Camp Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 11. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad or Ash Camp Baptist Church.

Departed this life May 6, 2001, Bruce D. Ball Sr., of 6211 Checkerberry Dr. Arrangements by Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home. Services will be held at New St. John's Baptist Church, Kilmarnock, Va. on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 12 noon.

BANKES
Paul Bankes of Newtown Square, Pa., died May 5, 2001, in his residence at White Horse Village. Doris (nee Davis), his wife of 63 years, was by his side. Born in Quakake, Pa., to Wilhemina Kistler and Arthur L. Bankes, he survived brothers Howard, Arthur and Ralph. Paul worked for Larus and Brother Co. in Richmond, Va. and then as Executive Vice President of John Middleton Inc. in Philadelphia. Besides his wife, his children, Paul and Patricia; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren survive him. A memorial service will be held in the White Horse Village Conservatory on Saturday, May 12 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Willistown United Methodist Church, Newtown Square, Pa.

BATTS
Memorial services will be held for Robert Lee "Batman" Batts at Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., on Friday, 11 a.m. Mr. Batts' survivors include his devoted wife, Rose Batts; a host of other relatives and friends.

BECK
Miss Lucille V. Beck, 82, of Richmond, died May 5, 2001. She is survived by her friends at the Richmond Senior Center and Richmond Residential Services Inc. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Edna Wilson Best, born in Lynchburg, S.C., on October 18, 1928, departed this life on May 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Audery Lee Best and son, Comer L. Best. She is survived by her loving children, Carro Donkor, Leveston Wilson (Rozina), Audrey Best-Jackson (Wilford), Brenda Best Luke (John Jr.) and Diana Best (William); seven grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters, a host of nieces, nephews and a great deal of family and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., from Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary St., with Rev. Earl M. Brown officiating. Interment Quantico National Cemetery (Triangle) 1:30 p.m.

Bernard J. Bowles, 82, of Columbia, Va., departed this life Tuesday, May 8, 2001. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland. Funeral notice later.

BOWMAN
Colonel Robert A. Bowman, 86, of Wicomico Church, Va., husband of the late Rhoda Erling Bowman, died on May 8, 2001. He is survived by two daugthers, Brooks Bowman and Leslie Bowman.
