GEORGE T. HARBOUR

George "Troy" Harbour, age 71, of Patrick Springs, passed away Saturday evening, March 31, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

He was born October 23, 1940 to the late Grady Harbour and Ruby Martin Harbour. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henderson Harbour.

He had retired from Narroflex after 45 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and bee keeping.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years as of July 2, Janet Martin Harbour of the home at 462 Liberty Church Lane, Patrick Springs, VA 24133; one daughter, Tammy Harbour of the home; a sister-in-law, Juanita Harbour of Stuart; special nephews and nieces, Barran and Jamie Harbour and Jacob and Leanna Harbour, all of Danbury, N.C, Brian and Susan Harbour of Stuart, and Brittany, Tyler and Emilea; special friends, Gretchen Cockram and Hub Chaney; and a special dog/grandson, Marvin.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Delmas Rorrer and Elder John Wingfield officiating. Burial was in Liberty Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

MICHAEL J. HILL

Michael Joseph Hill, 52, of Brushy Mountain Road, Stuart, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home, while surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on October 29, 1959 in Mount Airy, N.C., and was a son of Joseph "Joe" Hill and Helen East Hill of Stuart.

He was a member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church and the CCDF Fire Dept. in Stuart.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Susan Harrell Hill of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Heather Hill of Asheville, N.C., and Heidi Hill Foster and Chad Foster of Patrick Springs; one sister, Nanette Hill Petersen of Merced, Calif.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Terri and Jeff Hylton, Sharon and David Kimble, Sandra and Ron Thomas and Lester and Anita Harrell; his mother-in-law, Janet Harrell; five nephews; five nieces; three great-nephews and three great-nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Collinstown Presbyterian Church, 2868 Collinstown, Road, Westfield, N.C., with Shaun Draughn, Mark George and Jack Holland officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Norris Funeral Services, Inc., 129 Howell Lane, Stuart, VA 24171 to defray funeral cost.

JUSTIN B. HOLT

Justin Bailey Holt, age 16, of Forest, died Monday, March 26, 2012, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

He was the son of Larry and Darlene Holt of Forest, and was a junior at Jefferson Forest High School.

Justin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bruce C. Holt.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jacob Holt, and a sister, Serena Holt, both of the home; his maternal grandmother, Judy Greenwood Holt, and special friend Lewis Bowman of Patrick Springs; his maternal grandfather, James Thomas Holt and wife Linda of Bakersfield, Calif.; his maternal great-grandfather, Irvin Greenwood of Patrick Springs, and his paternal grandmother, Betty Jane Elgin Holt of Stuart.

The family received friends Thursday evening at Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg. Interment was Friday afternoon in Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart. The Rev. Glenn Elgin conducted the graveside service.

ANNIE H. MARSHALL

Annie Hiatt Marshall, age 89, of Ararat, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.

She was born in Patrick County on April 10, 1922 to Mark Edward and Sissie Marshall Hiatt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie Payton Marshall; sons Roger Marshall and Philip Marshall and brothers, Curtis Hiatt, Haywood Hiatt and Cecil Hiatt.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Surviving are daughters, Elene Brown of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Cheryl Burnette of Oakland, Calif; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald (Butch) and Teresa Marshall of Ararat; grandchildren, Tony Brown and wife Pamela, Pam Jones and husband Gary, Nancy Evans and husband Bert, David Marshall and wife Laurie, Rebecca Young and husband Kevin, Sheri Fussell and husband Mike, Mark Burnette and wife Kimarie, Stacy Paetzel and husband, Jon; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a special niece, Estelle Wrede.

A graveside service was held Saturday at Doe Run Baptist Church by the Rev. Robbie Sizemore. The family received friends Friday night at Moody Funeral Home.

HELEN T. NICHOLS

Helen Thomas Nichols, age 87, of Critz St., Mount Airy, N.C., died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.

She was born January 11, 1925 in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late Jess and Sindy Vernon Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Foster Samuel Nichols; a sister, Lillian Hall; and three brothers, Fred Clifton Thomas, Harold Thomas and Zeb Thomas.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. She was married to Foster Samuel Nichols for 51 years until his passing in 1996.

Surviving are one daughter, Pam Perkins of Dobson, N.C.; one son, Darrell Nichols of Mount Airy; four grandchildren; one sister, Merle Hull of Mount Airy; one brother, James Thomas of Dobson; and a sister-in-law.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday at Oakdale Cemetery with services by Bro. Wayne Williamson.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon's International Dobson Camp, P.O. Box 791 Dobson, NC. 27017.

NELLIE H. SNOW

Nellie Jo Hall Snow, 78, of Mount Airy, N.C., died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Carroll County on April 15, 1933 to the late Claude and Bessie Ramey Hall. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila Jo and Sharon Annette Snow; a sister, Pauline Davis; and two brothers, Grant and Cecil Hall.

She was retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Mac Snow of the home; one daughter, Brenda Carol McCraw of Mount Airy; sons, Marty B. Snow and Steven Snow, both of Mount Airy; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Brewer and Claudine Goins, both of Mount Airy, Esther Creed of Yadkinville, N.C.; and brothers, Harvey Hall of Ararat, Dean Hall and Curtis Hall, all of Mount Airy; and two sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Mount Airy with the Revs. Johnny Johnson and Travis Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

CECIL W. BOAZ

Cecil Wade Boaz, 66, of Wagon Trail Road, Ridgeway, died on Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

He was born in Meherron on May 18, 1945, and was a son of the late Ruby Jones Boaz and Cecil Adams Boaz. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas N. Boaz.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Veterans and Teamsters Union.

He worked at Warren Trucking Company for 35 years as a truck driver before retiring.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Taylor of Spencer and Renee Prater of Axton; one sister, Mary Hutcherson of Martinsville; and two brothers, Myron E. Boaz of Arlington, Tex., and Elmer L. Boaz of Ridgeway; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services chapel in Stuart with Pastor Curt Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Nettle Ridge United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Norris chapel in Stuart.

PAUL W. CORNS

Paul Wilbert Corns, age 82, of Stuart, died Sunday evening, April 8, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 12, 1929 in Patrick County to the late Joe Henry Corns and Fannie Creasey Corns. He was also preceded in death by a son, James "Frankie" Corns; a stepgrandson, Tyler Keith Cassell; four sisters, Agnes Carter, Wavie Miller, Mervie Smith and Mildred Clark; and four brothers, Grover Corns, Frank Corns, Lummie Corns, and Buster Corns.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation; and was really enjoyed attending Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church where he was a member.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Ayers Bishop Corns of the home; one daughter, Kim Cassell of Martinsville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Brian Custer officiating. Burial will follow in the Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church cemetery with a flag presentation by the Patrick County Veterans' Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery Fund, 46 Minnie's Chapel Loop, Stuart, VA 24171.

TIMOTHY D. CRAIG

Timothy Dean "Worm" Craig, age 52, of Bassett, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart.

He was born on January 8, 1960 and was a son of the late Jesse Alton Craig and Charlene Thomas Craig. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Lee Craig.

He had worked for Stanley Furniture, and had delivered papers for the Martinsville Bulletin for 15 years, and was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Darnell Cassell Craig of the home; one daughter, Christi C. Mullins of Bassett; one son, Thomas Lee Craig of the home; one grandson; one sister, Pam Craig of Patrick Springs; a nephew; aunts and uncles and numerous other beloved family members.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Valley Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Burial was in the Thomas family cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Timothy Craig Memorial Fund, P O Box 307, Stuart, VA 24171.

Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.

DANY A. HALSEY

Dany Anderson Halsey, 95, of Patrick Springs, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.

She was born March 21, 1917, in Troutdale in Grayson County and was a daughter of the late John Anderson and Betty Sebastian Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hurshel H. Halsey; and four brothers, Robert Bruce Peak, Vester Lee Peak, Melvin Anderson and Roby Anderson.

She retired from Bassett Walker Knitting and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Hix Halsey Jr. of Bassett and Johnny V. Halsey of Stuart; one daughter, Betty G. Nelson of Patrick Springs; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Saturday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Christopher Halsey, Vernon Nelson, Bobby Craig, Chase Arrington, Wayne Martin and James Cassell.

Arrangements were by Bassett Funeral Service.
