BLAND
Lineous Preston "L.P." Bland III, of 4909 Briarwood Lane, son of the late Rev. Lineous Preston Bland II and Ethel Heckman Bland of Wakefield, died May 19, 1997, after a long illness in Virginia Beach General and Sentara Norfolk General Hospitals. He recently celebrated his 70th birthday. Survivors include his wife, Irma Lassiter Bland; his son, Richard Preston Bland of Chesapeake; his granddaughter, Amanda Dawn Bland of Chesapeake; a sister, Nan Ellen B. Seeley of Wakefield; a brother, James Leftwich Bland of Richmond; ten nieces and nephews; five great- nieces and nephews; and five cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Friday 11 a.m. in Centenary United Methodist Church by Rev. Donald H. Seely and Rev. Richard Browder. Burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, Suffolk, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3312 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, Va. 23703.

BOLLING
Samuel R. Bolling Jr. (Sammy Jr.) departed this life May 17, 1997. He is survived by two children, Little Miss Ellycia Yvonne Bolling and Xavier Ray Bolling; mother, Margaret B. Neville; father, Samuel R. Bolling Sr.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bolling; great-grandmother, Mrs. Viola Reid; stepmother, Lottie A. Bolling; stepfather, Dea. Darnell Neville; five aunts; three uncles; five great-aunts; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Pam Wingfield. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. from St. James Baptist Church, 401 Blair Rd., Manakin with Rev. Thomas Blake officiating. Interment church cemetery. The remains will rest in church one hour prior to funeral service.

BOND
Rosa Bond of Norfolk, Va., entered eternal rest May 17, 1997. She is survived by her children, Michelle Johnson, Michael Bond and Angela West; four brothers; four sisters; nine grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state Thursday 11 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va., where a Eulogistic Service will be conducted at 12 noon. Rev. Clinton Brown officiating. Interment Roosevelt Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. Bland and Brunson, Directors. Professional services entrusted to the: A. D. Price Funeral Establishment

BOWMAN
William B. F. "Mick" Bowman, age 73, of Urbanna, formerly of New York, died Sunday, May 18, 1997. survived by his children, William and Laurence Bowman, Susan Hickmann and Katherine Arnold; five grandchildren, Mary Rose, Patrick, Natalie, Valerie and Travis. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday in Christ Church Episcopal, Christchurch, Middlesex County. Interment in church cemetery.

BRAYTON
Kathryn Martin Brayton, age 84, widow of F. Gibbs Brayton, died in a Richmond hospital on Sunday, May 18, 1997. A resident of Richmond and formerly of Harborton, she was the daughter of the late Gerald L. Martin and Mary Colonna Martin. She was a member of Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church, Onancock; Sigma Alpha Gamma Sorority; and the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club. She attended Longwood College and Richmond Business College. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley S. McKenna; and stepchildren, Betty Ware and Roy Brayton. She is survived by her grandchildren, Caroline S. Wells and Robert L. Seamster, both of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Joann and Robert L. Seamster Jr.; nephews, Gerald L., Harry W., Smith K. III and Webster S. Martin; step-grandchildren, Leslie Carver and Donald Strickland. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Mt. Holly Cemetery, Onancock, conducted by Rev. Elizabeth Talbot. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Miss Nancy Custis, P.O. Box 234, Onancock, Va. 23417. Arrangements by the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, (757-787-2340).

BREEDEN
Hazel Lorine Breeden, 72, died Monday, May 19, 1997 at the residence of her daughter, Sandra Hoy. She was born August 7, 1924 in Richmond, a daughter of Owen Francis Marrin and Hazel Scruggs Marrin Bowman. She was retired from the United Church Nursery. Mrs. Breeden was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Breeden. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra B. Hoy of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Travis Hoy, Valerie Sandridge, Robyne Weisensale, Toni Capps; three great- grandchildren, Jonathan Sandridge, Stephanie Weisensale and Emily Weinsensale; an aunt, Mary S. Bowman; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waynesboro Chapel of Etter-Reynolds Funeral Service conducted by Rev. Clemmer Matheny with burial following in Augusta Memorial Park. There will be no public viewing of the body. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.H.C. Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 3129, Staunton, Va. 24402.

DANDRIDGE
Departed this life, May 19, 1997. Mrs. Delia H. Dandridge of 1416 Melton Ave. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley D. Jones and Lois D. Gray; a devoted niece, Mable E. Carter; three grandchildren, Allen M. Jones, Shari L. Gray and Tarick B. Gray; four brothers, Carter, George, Walker and Phillip Heiskill; one sister, Lorine Hence; a host of nieces and nephews; one son-in-law, William A. Gray III; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends, Wednesday 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in state Thursday, 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hanover County, where funeral service will be held Thursday 2 p.m. Rev. Gabe Davis officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

DAVIS
Mr. John E. Davis, 57, of White Stone, died May 20, 1997. Mr. Davis was the Assistant Vice-President of the Northern Neck Insurance Co. in Irvington. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Brent Davis; one son and daughter-in-law, Ric and Jennifer Davis of Silver Spring, Md.; one grandson, Trevor Davis; one brother, Charlie R. Davis Jr. of White Stone. Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 23 in the White Stone Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery.

DAVIS
Mrs. Louise Hicks (Dootsie) Davis, age 54, of Richmond, died Monday, May 19, 1997. She was the widow of Jasper Ray Davis, a former Detective with the Richmond Police Department. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte D. Moore; and her son, Richard Michael Davis; two grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara C. Hicks; and two nieces. Mrs. Davis was a Switchboard Operator for the Virginia Credit Union. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

FLETCHER
Lawrence (Bubba) Edward Fletcher, 60, of Richmond, died May 18, 1997. He is survived by two brothers, Herman S. Fletcher Jr., and Frederick B. Fletcher; a sister, Mrs. Rosemary Gammon and her husband, Thomas I. Gammon; two nephews, T. Stewart Gammon and his wife, Sharon; Brother Pio Maria E.C. of the Camaldolese Order in Bloomingdale, Ohio; two great-nieces, Ashlee Brooke and Heather Elizabeth Gammon. Mr. Fletcher was a partner of the Little Five Azalea Farm and a member of the Virginia Nursery Association and a graduate of Benedictine High School in 1954. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

GENTRY
George W. (G.W.) Gentry, 52, of Midlothian, died Monday, May 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Chenault Gentry; a daughter, Crystal Gentry; son, Will Gentry; stepson, Travis Beattie; grandson, Eon Gentry; three sisters, Shelby Carter, Helen Hall and Phyllis Sager; three brothers, Edwin, Kenneth (Butch) and Dennis Gentry. Mr. Gentry was the owner and operator of G.W. Gentry Water Wells. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

GIBSON
Deacon Robert Allen Gibson, age 85, of Powhatan entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 18, 1997 at the Meadows Nursing Center. He was a longtime member and Deacon of the St. James Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula and daughter, Martha Gibson. He leaves to mourn his loss a daughter, Alice Clarke; son-in-law, Beverly Clarke. Also a goddaughter, four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, four grandchildren, six great-grand children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the St. James Baptist Church, Powhatan, Va. Rev. Lawrence Wilson officiating. Interment in church cemetery. After 1 p.m. Thursday, remains will rest in the above named church until hour of service. Relatives and friends attending ser vices assemble at the church at 1 p.m.

HARRISON
Sallie Wright Harrison of Bon Air died Monday, May 19, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Hartwell Harrison; two children, Anne Tucker Harrison and John Hartwell Harrison, both of Richmond; her father, Augustus Wright of Petersburg; two sisters, Kathryn Louise W. Elder and Elizabeth Ann W. Tucker, both of Petersburg; a brother, Cleveland Augustus Wright of Petersburg; and former husband, H. Wesley Richard son of Richmond. Mrs. Harrison was predeceased by her mother, Louise Purdy Wright. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 1997 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 11000 Smoketree Drive, Richmond. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Richmond. The family will receive friends at the residence on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060; or to Central Virginia Chapter of the M.S. Society, 1301 N. Hamilton St., Richmond, Va. 23230-3959. J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Florida Higgs of 1514 Presson Blvd. departed this life May 19, 1997. The staff of W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving her family.

HITE
Anderson W. Hite Sr., 75, of Bowling Green, died Monday May 19, 1997. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hite; a son, Alan Hite of Bowling Green; a son and daughter-in-law, Anderson W. (Joe) and JoAnn Hite of Spotsylvania; a sister, Emma "Pete" Blythe of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Charles Alonzo Hite of Richmond; three grandchildren; two great -grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., in Lakewood Cemetery, Bowling Green. Memorial contributions may be made to Bowling Green Rescue Squad or a favorite charity. Virginia (Louise) Archer Jones, 89, of Richmond, died May 17, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cornelius A. Jones. She is survived by a daughter, Imogene Branch; son-in-law, Reuben Branch; six grandchildren, Therese Purnell, Nathaniel Gibbon, Lynette Allen (caretaker), David Branch, Tara Morris and Tonya Jones; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; one devoted niece, Margarita F. Austin; and one devoted great-niece, Teri M. Jones; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22 at 1 p.m. Rev. Kirkland Walton officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

LOVING
Charles William Loving of Mechanicsville, died May 18, 1997. He was a retired Philip Morris employee. He is survived by his children, Connie L. Roberson, Charles Dean Loving, Jeffrey Bryant Loving Sr. and Mark Roy Loving; nine grandchildren; brothers, Davis Loving and Pete Loving; sisters, Margaret Parker, Kitty Courtney, Dorothy Seal and Pearl Tignor. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tues day at the Mechanicsville Chapel, of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd. where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
