Died November 29, 1998, Sara Elizabeth (Betsy) Spracher of Greenbelt, Md., sister of Fred A. Spracher. Also survived by three nephews, Stephen, David and Jonathan Spracher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Spracher. Friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, Md., on Wednesday, December 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd., Brentwood, Md. Gather at Administration Building, 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

STALLINGS
Irene Richardson Stallings, of Mechanicsville, widow of James Harold Stallings, died Sunday, November 29, 1998. She is survived by four children, James Thomas Stallings, Susan Stallings McLane, Harold Edward Stallings and Linda Stallings Wallace; two sisters, Eunice Bowers and Emma Estelle Hartless; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Stallings was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road, where services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment Forest Lawn. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

STRONG
Edith Pettus Strong, 98, widow of James Aubrey Strong, passed away December 1, 1998 at Westminster Canterbury House. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Carl Lunsford; three granddaughters, Bonnie L. Moyar, Debra L. Webb, and Jan L. Major; six great- grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. She was the oldest life-long member of Third Presbyterian Church which she joined in 1913. She served for more than 25 years as Superintendent of the Nursery and Kindergarten Departments of the Sunday School and also for many years as Choir Mother of the Cherub Choir. A private graveside service will be held on December 4, 1998 at Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on a later date. Woody Funeral Home assisting family with arrangements. TEMPLEMAN
David Owens Templeman Sr., 75, of Center Cross died Monday, November 30, 1998 in Richmond. Mr. Templeman was a veteran of WWII, after WWII until June of 1980, he was Vice President of Dowdy-Templeman Furniture of Richmond. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Brown Templeman; daughter, Ms. Elizabeth Dale Templeman of Richmond; sons and daughter-in-law, David Owens and Vickie M. Templeman Sr. of Richmond, Timothy Nelson of Richmond; one grandson, five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Templeman Marshall of Falls Church. Mr. Templeman is preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Nash Templeman. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 1998 from the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street Road, with interment to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 1998 and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

TINSLEY
Samuel Lawson Tinsley, of Glen Allen, passed away November 29, 1998. He was retired from the Richmond School Board and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #131 and the Virginians. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Thomas Hawkes (Theresa Ann) of Sandston, Mr. Raymond I. Tinsley of Wilson, N.C. and Mrs. Thomas R. Justis Jr. (Clara) of Powhatan; two brothers, Mr. G. Irving Tinsley of Elmont and Mr. Bernard D. Tinsley of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie B. Corddry of Berlin, Md., Mrs. Pearle T. Burns (Jimmie) of Glen Allen and Mrs. Marcia Hendrick (Mickie) of Glen Allen; one grandchild, Mrs. Roger Clarke (Scarlett Ann) of Goochland; and a number of nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.

AGEE
Mr. Johnie Lester Agee Sr., age 77, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Buckingham, departed this life on Sunday, October 3, 1999 in Richmond, Va. He is survived by a son, Johnny Lester Agee Jr.; three daughters, Annie M. Agee, Queen A. Miller, and Eva M. Agee; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Edward and Thomas Howard Agee of Washington, D.C.; a sister-in-law, Eva Griggs Agee; son-in-law, Daniel Felton and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, three devoted, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Griggs and Mrs. Blanche Lee. His remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home, Cumberland, Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m. at Petersville Baptist Church, New Canton, Va. Rev. Ollie Bolden, Pastor officiating. Interment in church cemetery.

APPLEGATE
C. William (Bill) Applegate of Richmond, retired corporate industrial relations executive for Reynolds Metals after 35 years of service, died October 4, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Glad Applegate; daughter, Jill Foco of Iowa City, Iowa; two sons, Steve N. Applegate of Raleigh, NC and Tom Applegate of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Maria Applegate, Ali Foco, Chuck and Chris Davis; also three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Applegate was an elder and member of River Road Presbyterian Church, elder and charter member of Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, emeritus member of Capitol Area Agency on Aging, member of the American Psychological Assoc., founding member of the Virginia Applied Psychologists Assoc., past president of Ohio State Alumni Assoc. of the Greater Richmond area and was recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, member and treasurer of the ICOV, past president of the Canterbury Civic Assoc. A memorial service will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at River Road Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private. Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home assisting family with the arrangements. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to River Road Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

BASYE
Betty White Basye, 82, of Lottsburg, died October 5, 1999. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Louis F. Jr. and Dorothy W. Basye and Thomas W. and Patsy J. Basye of Lottsburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Basye was preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Basye Sr. and a daughter, Ethel Basye. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. Interment Melrose United Methodist Cemetery, Lottsburg. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. BRUCE
Charles William Bruce, age 59, of Richmond, died Wednesday, September 29, 1999. He is survived by three sisters, Peggy Henchey, Nancy Accashian and Linda Contreras; stepmother, Helen Bruce and a host of relatives and friends. His remains rest at K.L. Jordan Funeral Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., where services will be held Wednesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements by:

Grace "Gracie" E. Campbell, of Richmond, died Monday, October 4, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Bernard F. Campbell; two sons, Bernard L. and Lynwood K. Campbell; four sisters, Frances Miller, Edith Childress, Ann James and Barbara Frick; five grandchildren, Tammy Snead, Greg, Mike and Jason Campbell and Katlyn Campbell; five great-grandchildren, Brian and Branden Snead, Cheryl, Cathy and Christie Campbell all of Richmond. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home’s Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday in Westhampton Memorial Park.

COLEMAN
William Skelton Coleman, formerly of Henry Co., Va., age 97, husband of the late Mary Ruth Hundley Coleman, died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at Friendship Manor Health Care Center, Roanoke, Va. He was born in Henry Co., Va., on July 24, 1902 to the late Henry Skelton Coleman and the late Nannie Lou Coleman. Mr. Coleman was the former owner/operator of Coleman Supply Co. in Martinsville and South Boston, Va. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville.. He is survived by his daughters, Mary King Coleman of Richmond, Va. and Nan Lou Coleman of Roanoke, Va.; sons, William Skelton Coleman Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.; five grandchildren, James Twyman Poindexter IV, Mary Cabell Poindexter, William Skelton Coleman III, Robert Walker Coleman and John Woodfin Coleman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 7, 1999 at 2 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville, Va. with the Rev. J.D. Harmon officiating. McKee-Stone Funeral Home services is in charge of the arrangements.

DAVIS
Sterling Howard Davis, husband, father, brother, Elder, WW II veteran, departed this earthly life on October 5, 1999. He was 81 years old. Mr. Davis was born in Garland, Utah, January 18, 1918, to Howard Davis and Ellen MacFarland Davis. He is survived by two sisters, Elayne Fryer and Alene Barton of Salt Lake City, Utah; his wife of 56 years, Helen R. Davis; children, Sherrill and David Donahoe, Karen and Larry Bell, Vicki Davis, Jami and Ralph Blanning, Lori and Jeff Cook; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Davis was a decorated officer in the 5th Air Force 19th Bombardment Group of the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He served as president of two investment and real estate corporations in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Eugene, Ore.; in his later years, he was a nuclear inspector and insurance investigator and adjuster. The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 5600 Monument Avenue, on Friday, October 8, 1999 at 1 p.m.

GLASGOW
Mary Lois Poole Glasgow died October 5, 1999. She was a native of Crewe, Va., but resided in Petersburg, Va., many years preceding her death. She retired from Avon Products after 31 years as a District Manager. She is survived by a daughter, Ethel Franklin. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 7 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park. Sharleen Sanderson Hall, 51, of Richmond, died Thursday, September 30, 1999. Surviving are her husband, Bobby Lloyd Hall Jr.; sons, William L. Lucas Jr. and his wife, Karen of Richmond, and Stewart Russell Lucas of Yorktown; father, Stewart S. Sanderson; and stepmother, Judy C. Sanderson of Richmond; sister, Beverly S. Watts of Mechanicsville; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Sue and Robert Davis; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Bobby Hall Sr. and Nancy Hall; and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen Powell Harvey, 73, of Richmond, died October 4, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki H. James Irving Jr. of 2310 N. 23rd St. died suddenly. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving his family.

JOHNSON
Robert Norman Johnson, 62, of Richmond passed away on October 4, 1999 in Boston, Mass. Mr. Johnson was born in Richmond, Va., the son of Robert M. and Margaret H. Johnson, and graduated from Hermitage High School in 1956. A 1960 graduate of the United States military Academy at West Point, he spent ten years in active duty as a member of the United States Army, attaining the rank of Major. He had a tour of duty in Vietnam and received numerous decorations for his conduct there. In 1967 Mr. Johnson obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar. He served in the Judge Advocate General Corps until 1970. His distinguished civilian legal career spanned twenty-nine years, including service as Commissioner in Chancery for the Richmond and Henrico Circuit Courts. From 1975 to 1979 he served on the Henrico County Board of Supervisors representing the Fairfield District. He was also an Adjunct Professor at the T.C. Williams School of Law and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Richmond. He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Anne Norris Myers Johnson; his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and David Brown of Lexington, Mass. and Anne-Marie and Derek Leake of Richmond; his daughter-in-law and son, Mary Kay and Robert N. Johnson Jr. of Richmond; two grandchildren, Jacob Robert Brown and Sally Brown of Lexington, Mass.; a brother, Aubrey Johnson of Richmond; and a sister, Joan Chrnielewski of Debary, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9 at Camp Concert Hall at the University of Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of your choice.
