BURNETTE
Blanche S. Burnette, 83, of Richmond went to be with her Lord Friday, May 16, 1997. She was the widow of Ollen L. Burnette. She is survived by her daughters, Mildred B. Bailey and Doris J. Edwards, both of Richmond; her son, M. Warren Burnette of Dinwiddie; her stepsons, Ollen Burnette Jr. of Alabama and Wayne Burnette of Richmond; thirteen grandchildren and five great -grandchildren; her sister, Julia Huneycutt; her brother, Curtis Smith, both of Oakboro, N.C. Mrs. Burnette was a retired employee of the catalog department of Sears Roebuck & Co. and was active in many West End clubs. Remains rest at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, where the family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.

BURNS
Mozelle R. Burns, 74, departed this life May 16, 1997, in Williamsburg Health & Rehabilitation Center. A native of Richmond, she had been a resident of Williamsburg for seven years. Mrs. Burns had retired from a long career at Reynolds Metals Company in Richmond. She was predeceased by her husband, James; and her son, John Aubin Burns. She is survived by a loving daughter, Judith B. Wetta and her husband, Daniel, of Williamsburg; a devoted son, James Larry Burns of Richmond; four grandchildren, Keira and April Wetta of Williamsburg, Deborah Burns Nicholson and Dwayne Burns of Richmond; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

BUSH
Departed this life Thursday, May 15, 1997, Mrs. Mozelle Marie Bush of Richmond. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah, Vanessa and Beverly Bush; one son, Berthea Bush; one grandson, Dexter A. Bush-Scott; two sisters, Dorothy Harris and Olga Lee Hunt; one brother, Wyatt Hunt; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Bush; a host of brothers and sisters-in-law; a devoted Christian Daughter, Sharon Taylor; two godchildren, Rukyia Twyman and Patrick Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19, 11 a.m. at Broomfield CME Church. Rev. Michael K. Williams, Pastor; Rev. Jesse Gatling officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. After 10 a.m. Monday, remains will rest in the above-named church until hour of service. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the church Monday 10:30 a.m.

CHISHOLM
Jacqueline G. Chisholm passed away on May 16, 1997. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy K. Chisholm; her brother, Charles E. Chisholm; and sisters, Lori Chisholm and Deborah Potter. Jacqueline was a graduate of Henrico High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. She taught school in Shenandoah and Henrico County Public Schools. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1214 Wilmer Ave. on Saturday, May 24 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Va. Jaycee RFD 1, Box 860, Blue Ridge, Va. 24064

COTHRAN
Mr. John Barkley Cothran, 73, of Victoria, Va., widower of Frances Vaughan Cothran, passed away Saturday morning, May 17, 1997. He was a retired manager of Parker Oil Co., a World War II veteran, and a member of the Victoria Christian Church. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cothran of the home; grandchildren, Shawn and Ashley Cothran; daughter-in-law, Dolores Cothran; a brother, James Vernon Cothran of Kenbridge; a sister, Doris Doss of Victoria; a very special friend, Margaret Martin. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Vaughan Cothran. The family will receive friends Sunday (today) 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, Victoria. Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at the Victoria Christian Church, with interment at Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria.

DALE
Inez Rebecca Johnson Dale, of Jarratt, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. She was a native of Sussex County, attended schools in Homeville and Waverly, and graduated from Waverly High School. After her marriage, she lived in Richmond and moved to Jarratt in 1940. She first joined Oak Grove Methodist Church near Littleton, and later transferred to Centenary United Methodist Church where she held offices in the Edith Lacy Circle of the Women's Society of Christian Services (now the UNW). She was the widow of Philip H. Dale; and is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Dale-Hodges of Prince George County; one sister, Annie J. Lewis of Stony Creek; and one brother, Alonzo Franklin (Frank) Johnson of Jarratt. The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 19. Funeral services will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church, Tuesday, May 20, at 2 p.m. Interment High Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 472, Jarratt, Va. 23867; and/or Oak Grove Methodist Church, U.S. Route 35, Courtland, Va. 23837.

DAVIS
Mary F. "Rena" Davis, 84, formerly of Colonial Heights, died Thursday, May 15, 1997 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. Mrs. Davis had lived most of her life in Virginia and had moved to Delaware in 1990 to live at Forwood Manor. She was the widow of Connelly S. Davis and a former member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred A. and William J. Strum of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Wells of Colonial Heights. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 1997 in the chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with the Reverend Terry Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 231 Chesterfield Ave., Colonial Heights, Va. 23034.

DORCH
Mrs. Annie R. Dorch of 3022 Fourth Ave. departed life this May 16, 1997. She is survived by eight children, Rosa Thomas, Annette White, William Dorch, Ethel Farmer all of Richmond; Annie McBride, Juanita Dorch, Mary Wallace and Kathleen Allen all of New York City; eleven grandchildren and a host of great- grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Williams of Barnwell, S.C.; one brother, Leroy Overstreet of Bishopville, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Felene Dorch of Martin, S.C.; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where the family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will be forwarded to the Lebby Funeral Home, Barnwell, S.C. for funeral service and burial.

DOUGLEWICZ
Alease Atkins Douglewicz, age 87, of Charles City, widower of Joseph T. Douglewicz, died May 15, 1997. survived by a son, Thomas A. Douglewicz of Charles City; a grandson, Joshua T. Douglewicz of Chesterfield. Family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

DUNCAN
Died suddenly Friday, May 16, 1997, Marietta Melton Duncan, 70 of Ashland, widow of Frederick A. Duncan. She is survived by her sister, Betty Melton Carswell, Ashland; her brother, Billy W. Melton, Gaston, N.C. The family will receive friends Monday 6 to 8 p.m. in the Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. Interment Winn's Baptist Church Cemetery, Glen Allen. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Kenwood United Methodist Church, where she was a lay leader and was instrumental in organizing Walking for Health.

EDMONDS
Mrs. Ola Bell Mallory Edmonds, 78, widow of the late contractor, John Edmonds Jr., died Wednesday, May 14, 1997 in Greenville Memorial Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, May 19, 1997 at Oak Street AME Zion Church, Petersburg. Rev. T. Kenneth Venable, pastor, presiding. Dr. Andrew J. White Sr. eulogizing. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.

EVERETT
Arthur V. "Lum" Everett of Powhatan, died May 14, 1997. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Waters; one son, Leonard Everett, both of Powhatan; one stepsister, Martha Baird, Chesterfield; and five grand children. Mr. Everett was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 666 for 58 years. A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy., Powhatan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Powhatan Vol. Rescue Squad.

FULGHUM
Arthur T. (Tom) Fulghum III, 54, of Chester, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Jean S. Fulghum; his son, Richard G. Fulghum; his father, Arthur T. Fulghum Jr.; his brother, Richard M. Fulghum; his sister, Juanita A. Fulghum. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where services will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Chucky Fulghum Memorial Scholarship Fund, 11647 Jeff Davis Hwy., Chester, Va. 23831.

HUDSON
Lorraine (Dee) Mays Dickens Hudson of Chesterfield County died May 16, 1997 at home. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, J. Porter Hudson; her son and daughter-in- law, Robert Lassiter (Buzz) and Mary Lou Dickens; her daughter and son- in-law, Renee Lorraine Murphey Marshall and Paul Dwight Marshall; four grandsons, Robert III (Robbie) and Jeffrey Wyatt (Jeff) Dickens, William Hobson III (Trip) and Christopher Scott (Chris) Murphey; one great-grandson, Cameron Taylor Murphey, son of Trip and Kim Murphey. Mrs. Hudson was a 1938 graduate of Manchester High School. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. Services will be held at Providence United Methodist Church, 901 S. Providence Rd. Monday at 11 a.m. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Providence United Methodist Church.

JOHNSON
W. Powell Johnson, 85, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Varina, died Friday, May 16, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Louise S. Johnson; two sons, Ernest P. Johnson of Texas and Kenneth R. Johnson of Florida; his daughter, Virginia J. Kossoff of Mechanicsville; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; and where services will be held Monday 2 p.m. Interment Hollywood Cemetery. Together with his wife, Mr. Johnson was the owner of Johnson's Food Store in the Fan. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Varina Ruritan Club. During his retirement, he worked for Thalhimer's at Eastgate Mall. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1100 W. Grace St., Rich mond, Va. 23220.

JONES
Departed this life May 15, 1997, at Chippenham Hospital, Mrs. Helen Hazel Jones, of 617 Crieff Road. She is survived by two daughters, Helen D. Karim and Audrey J. Jones; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Everette, Willard, Curtis and William Hedgeman; four sisters, Irene Wilson, Emma Bailey, Gladys Eubanks and Cora Davis; host of nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Remains will lie in state Monday 1 p.m. in Great Hope Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Dr. Earl Bledsoe, Pastor. Burial Oakwood.

LINDGREN
Paul H. Lindgren, of Midlothian, died Friday, May 16, 1997, in Richmond. Born in Worcester, Mass., November 27, 1922 and raised in Scotland, Conn., he resided in Virginia for many years. A veteran of World War II contributing in the Pacific Campaign with the U.S. Marine Corps, he also served his country as an agent with the F.B.I. before beginning his lifetime work in the insurance industry. He retired as Senior Vice-President from Fred S. James in 1987. He is survived by one son and three daughters, Mark, Margaret and Anne Lindgren, and Katherine Maxwell. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Catholic Church of Epiphany. Interment Dale Memorial Park.

MARTIN
Mabel Mitchell Martin, 91, of Richmond, died Friday, May 16, 1997. She was the widow of John Atkinson Martin; a native of Doswell; and was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Phoebe Jane Southworth Mitchell. She retired from the I.R.S. after 20 years of service. A member of Taylorsville Baptist Church, Doswell, Mrs. Martin was the organist for many years, taught Sunday School, and remained active as health permit ted. She also enjoyed genealogy, raising flowers and needlework, was an excellent seamstress and avid artist; and was a member of Tri-Ad Art Club. She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Jane "Jackie" Hulbert of Mechanicsville; one sister, Laura Mitchell Samuels of Doswell; two grandchildren, Lucy-Jane Busath of Elk Grove, Calif., Ertle Bellamy Hewett Jr. of Waynesboro; six great- grandchildren, Christian, Chad, Kari, John Martin and Stephen Mitc hell Busath, all of Calif., and Forrest Dayle Hewett of Oklahoma City, Okla. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Home, Ashland. A funeral service will be held Monday 11 a.m. at Taylorsville Baptist Church. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Taylorsville Baptist Church Fund or Ashcake Rescue Squad.

McCLOSKEY
Janet G. McCloskey of Colonial Heights, died at home, Friday, May 16, 1997. Mrs. McCloskey was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Colonial Heights; and a 29 year member and past leader of TOPS. She is survived by her husband, Enoch J. McCloskey; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Ronald Miller of Topeka, Kan.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marianna McCloskey of Alpharetta, Ga.; three grandsons, Eric Miller, Joseph and Stephen McCloskey; and one great-grandson, Jacob Miller. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, 1997 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. Funeral services will be at the funeral home, 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Interment will be at Rolling Green Memorial Gardens, Camp Hill, Pa.

Departed this life May 14, 1997, Mrs. Ellen B. McCoy of 1400 Wallace St. She is survived by one devoted daughter, L. Peyton McCoy; two nephews, James and George Tyler; several cousins and other relatives and friends, among them, Gloria Stephens and Shelia Shaw. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave. Funeral Monday, 12 Noon at 31st Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st St. where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time, Dr. Darryl Rollins, Pastor officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 11:45 a.m. Monday.
