EDWARDS
Ina "Pun" Bryant Edwards, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died Sunday, January 31, 1999. She was the widow of James "Hoover" Wesley Edwards Sr. and the daughter of the late Roland Lee and Ida Griffin Bryant. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Wakefield United Methodist Women, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Waverly No. 172 now Alpha 1, and a member of the Wakefield Women's Club. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son, James "Jerry" Edwards Jr. and wife, June of Richmond; grandsons, James Wesley Edwards III and Jeffrey William Edwards, also of Richmond; nephew, B.B. Wills Jr. of Wakefield; and several other nieces and nephews; her companion and aide, Mrs. Oneal Cypress. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 3, 1999, at 2 p.m. in Wakefield United Methodist Church, with Rev. C. Randolph Duncan and Rev. Edward Owen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department or Wakefield United Methodist Church. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield is handling arrangements.

ELLIS
Katherine P. (Penny) Ellis departed this life Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at her home. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va. She was graduated as a Registered Nurse from Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She moved to Richmond with her family in 1966. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John W. (Buck) Ellis; her son J. Michael Ellis and his wife, Joyce Ann; and two grandsons, Warren Michael and Craig Stephen. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 5 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at their home.

EVANS
Lee Osborne Evans, 86, died January 31, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Doris Haraway; one son, Lee O. (Buddy) Evans III; two daughters, Carol Dowdy and Judy Martin; and son, Paul Lonski. He was loved by many grandchildren and great- grandchildren but especially by grandson, Michael Lonski who was more like a son to him. An accomplished musician, he was retired from Bowman Printing Co. Mr. Evans was an active member of Westover Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. Memorial service at Westover Baptist Church, 3 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westover Baptist Church, 1000 Westover Hills Blvd., Richmond, VA 23225.

FORD
Emma Rosalind Dolly-Ford passed suddenly January 29, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Ford; two daughters, Elonda and Latoya Dolly; one granddaughter, Mikayla Roane; mother, Nancy Dolly; two devoted brothers, Alexander "Checo" Dolly and Douglas Dolly Smith; aunts; and devoted sister-in-law, Carolyn Dolly; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of devoted friends, among them Deborah Johnson and Bernice Moore. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conductd Wednesday at 12 noon from Victory Tabernacle Baptist Church, 600 Chimborazo Blvd., with Pastor Kevin Harris officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. The remains will rest in church one hour prior to service.

FREEMAN
Joseph Samuel Freeman 71, of Richmond died Monday, February 1, at his residence. Funeral notice later.

GUNN
Elizabeth M. (Pat) Gunn, 74, died Sunday, January 31, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Richard G. Gunn; one son, Ronald D. Gunn; one daughter, Deborah Barnes; her mother, Ruby H. Myers; three sisters, June M. Parsell, Bobbie M. Beckom and Maggie M. Jones; two grandchildren, Ryan A. Gunn and Robert G. Gunn; one daughter-in-law, Perry S. Gunn; and one son-in-law, William C. Barnes. Mrs. Gunn was a member of the Belmont Women's Golf Association and the Hollows Women's Golf Association. She was retired from Miller & Rhoads. Remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. Rd. Grave side services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 980037, Richmond, Va. 23298-0037.

HALL
Mr. Wilbur S. Hall, 75, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 1999. He was the son of the late Wyatt E. and Hester J. Hall of Charlotte County, Va. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Owen Hall; his daughter, Deborah Hall Morgan; his brother, Gene Hopkins Hall and his wife, Mary Ellen Hall; two sisters, Mildred Priddy and her husband, Archie E. Priddy Jr. and Edna Carmody; three grandchildren, Kimberly Harley, Timothy and James Morgan; three great-grandchildren, Mark and Elizabeth Harley and Mitchell Morgan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Nelson Hall. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Place Baptist Church, 1501 S. Providence Rd. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Public Fork Christian Church Cemetery, Red Oak, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethany Place Baptist Church or Staunton Baptist Church, 15267 Smith Mountain Lake Pkwy, Huddleston, Va. 24104.

HARRIS
Virgie Stanley Harris, age 96, of Beaverdam, widow of Albert P. Harris Sr., died February 1, 1999. survived by two sons, Albert P. Harris Jr. of Highland Springs, and Alvin P. Harris of Odenton, Md.; also two daughters, Jessie Meador and Jeanie O'Quinn, both of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Shiloh United Methodist Church, Montpelier, Virginia, Interment Church Cemetery.

HARRISON
Mary Maxwell Harrison of Richmond, widow of Hugh Randolph Harrison, died Saturday, January 30, 1999. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Maxwell Ellett and Henry Guerrant Ellett. She is survived by four children, Elizabeth Harrison Court of San Diego, Calif., Anne Harrison Bennett, Dr. Mary Ellett Harrison and Hugh Thornton Harrison II, all of Richmond; six grandchildren; two brothers, D Max well Ellett of Albuquerque, N.M. and John Spears Ellett II of Charlottesville. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Catherine's School, The Collegiate School or St. Margaret's School. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

HOLMES
Calvin C. Holmes Sr. entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 31, 1999. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Alice Sprouse Holmes and a son, Eugene D. Holmes. He is survived by a daughter, Rose H. Harrell; four sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin C. Jr. and Shirley, Jerry T. and Gloria, Delmar L. and Martha, Donald L. and Pat; a sister, Ethel H. Haynes; a brother, Russell W. Holmes; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Mr. Holmes was retired from E. I. Dupont after 42 years of service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with interment in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

LEE
Departed this life Monday, February 1, 1999, Miss Felicia Simpson Lee of Richmond. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

MATTHEWS
Robert E. Matthews, 59, of Colonial Heights died Sunday January 31, 1999 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Shelby J. Matthews. He was a former employee of the I.P.K. Construction Company.

MORRIS
Robert Lee Morris, 92, of Kinsale, died on Monday, February 1, 1999. Mr. Morris was the widower of Ruby Biscoe Morris and the husband of Catherine King Morris. He was a retired, self-employed carpenter and a member of Yeocomico Episcopal Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stanley Morris of Walhalla, S.C. and Lynwood Morris of Richmond; a daughter, Mildred M. Minor of Farnham; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by two children, Agnes M. Gallagher and Robert L. Morris Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, at Yeocomico Episcopal Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Welch-Marks Funeral Home, Warsaw, from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight. Memorial contributions may be made to North Farnham Memori al Fund, P.O. Box 343, Farnham, Va. 22460.

PERLMAN
Meyer Perlman, 91 of Richmond, formerly of Baltimore, died January 31, 1999. He is survived by his sister, Sally Weise; his nephews, Michael Weise, and Gary Flossman; his nieces, Maureen Roland, Selma Perlman, Joyce Ruskin, and Sara Cramer. Mr. Perlman was an Army veteran. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Bliley's Funeral Homes Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Mr. Perlman was a quiet, dear, sweet man.

RAY
Lucias K. Ray, 68, of Sandston, died Monday, February 1, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Y. Ray; a daughter, Bonnie Yates of Chesterfield; a son, Danny M. Ray and his wife, Debrah, of Mechanicsville; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael Ray; three brothers, Ira, Scott and Douglas Ray; two sisters, Beatrice Sadler and Diane Conner. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Halifax Memorial Gardens in South Boston, Va. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

SCKINTO
Frances Nivens Sckinto, 69, of Chesterfield, died Monday, February 1, 1999. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John Anthony Sckinto; six children, Catherine Winger, Susan Poveromo, Thomas Sckinto, Teresa Hogan, James Sckinto and Joseph Sckinto; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Matt, Jennifer, Ginnie, Maggie, Laura, Michael, Scottie and Alex; one sister, Shirley Ellis and her husband, Stuart; one son-in- law, Walter Hogan; two daughters-in -law, Becky Sckinto and Cheryl Sckinto; also two sisters-in-law, Lee Faglie and her husband, Richard and Louise Jones and her husband, Charles; and brother-in-law, Robert Hicks, as well as many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. Frances was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hicks and Annie Mae Ryder; and a brother-in-law, Robert Ryder. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and followed by a private burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Chesterfield County Library.

SMITH
Margaret Charles Smith, 74, of Richmond, died Sunday, January 31, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. (Bo) Smith. Survivors include two sons, Michael A. Smith and his wife, Linda and Robert M. (Bobby) Smith Jr. and his wife, Bobbie; her grandson, Michael Shawn Smith; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Butler; one sister-in-law, Ann Charles; several nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., with burial following in Washington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Henrico Vol. Rescue Squad.

STAPLES
Departed this life on Thursday, January 28, 1999 at MCV Hospital, Mr. Cascoe P. (Buck) Staples. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Dorothy P. Staples, his brother, Charles Henry Staples, two sons, Ronald Coates and Donald Staples; two daughters, Deloris Haines and Jennifer Spann; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three daughters-in-law, one sister-in-law, one niece and a host of devoted family and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street, where the family will receive friends, Tuesday, 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in-state Wednesday, 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 2700 Haynes Avenue, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12:00 noon, Reverend Dennis E. Thomas officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery. Repass will be held at 1708 4th Avenue.

THOMAS
Katherine Bradshaw Thomas, born in Manchester, Va., on December 19, 1902, the daughter of the late Paul Ernest and Nannie James Malone Bradshaw. She was an employee of the Va. Congress of Parents and Teachers for 40 years and a member of Manchester Eastern Star #53 as well as a lifetime member of the Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. The widow of John R. Thomas, Mrs. Thomas is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth A. and Audrey G. Bradshaw of Richmond; nieces, Ann B. Eley of Richmond, Nancy B. Sullivan of Pensacola, Fla.; nephews, William I. Baucom of Massilon, Ohio, and Walter H. Baucom of Loudounsville, N.Y. Her remains rest at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where the family will receive friends Wednesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at the Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Masonic Home, 4101 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, Va. 23223.

WADDELL
Dallas Dalton Waddell, 80 of Chesterfield, died February 1, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Waddell. She retired in 1984 with 36 years of service from Crawford Manufacturing Company. She is survived by her daughter, Sebera (Beanie) W. Biddle; a granddaughter, Angie Barham of Newbern, N.C.; a grandson, Buddy Biddle of Chesterfield; three great-grandchildren, Royce Barham and Ashley Barham of Newbern, N.C., and Desiree Biddle of Richmond. She is also survived by two sisters, Hallie Sue Stevens of Danville, Va., and Mabel Spencer of Martinsville, Va. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westhampton Memorial Park.
