CRENSHAW
Dorothy Edwards Crenshaw of Richmond, widow of Leroy Gillette Crenshaw, Jr., died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. She was originally from Brunswick County, Va., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Frank Ed wards. She is survived by her three children, Leroy Gillette Crenshaw III, Dorothy Crenshaw Cronk and Charles Walford Crenshaw, all of Richmond; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her sister, Virginia Lucille Edwards of Washing ton, D. C. Mrs. Crenshaw was a graduate of the former Richmond Professional Institute and University College, where she earned her Masters Degree. She was the retired President of Crenshaw Corporation. Mrs. Crenshaw was a member of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church, the Tuckahoe Woman's Club, The Woman's Club, The Country Club of Virginia and Riverside Garden Club. She served as a member of the Retreat Hospital Board until 1995. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church, 3601 Seminary Ave. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Ginter Park Presbyterian Church or Faith Mission Home, 3540 Mission Home Road, Free Union, Va. 22940, the residence of her eldest grandchild.

DODSON
Christine Dodson passed away June 9, 1997. She was the mother of Colleen Harlow, Collier and Catherine Dodson. Family receiving friends 3 p.m., memorial service 4 p.m. June 14, 1997 at Jahnke Road Baptist Church.

DOWNING
Elmer Carvel Downing, 75 of the 200 block of Louvick St., Norfolk, died in a local hospital Monday, June 9, 1997. He was born in Tennessee, but spent most of his life in Winterpock, Chesterfield County, before coming to Norfolk in 1943. He retired after 31 years with the Naval Air Rework Facility. His civilian career centered on Naval aviation, from aircraft metalsmith to analyst in Quality Assurance. He was a Naval veteran of World War II. He served more than 20 years in the Naval Reserve, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Naval Air Reserves Retiree Association and the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch #60. He is survived by his wife, Lynette Kernodle Downing; a son, Jerry C. Downing and his wife, Ruth of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Diane Lynette Downing of Norfolk; two sisters, Libby Sneed Watkins of Midlothian, Va. and Marion D. Newbill and her husband, Robert Newbill of Lynchburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Sgt. Ryan Austin, U.S. Army and Allison A. Givens; and her husband, Jack or Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews; also a devoted sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Harry Keller of Midlothian, Va. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

EICHER
Virginia Toney Eicher, 77, of Richmond, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Toney, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997. She is survived by her brother, Thomas P. Toney; sister, Ann T. Morrone; seven nieces; four nephews. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home, Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where family will receive friends 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday (today), with a Wake Service being held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church.

FERNANDEZ
Orestes S. Fernandez, 85, of Richmond, and a native of Cuba, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 1997. He was the widower of Rosa Blanca Fernandez. He is survived by three children, Orestes (Tony) Fernandez, Edward Fernandez and Rosa F. Fanney; and three grandsons, Roberto and Gregory Fernandez and Brian H. Fanney. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Refugee and Immigration Service, Catholic Diocese of Richmond, 16 N. Laurel St., Richmond, Va. 23220.

GATES
Elisabeth S. Gates, 88, of Richmond, died June 11, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Gates and her daughter, Helen G. Smith. Survivors include a brother, Charles Sones Jr.; sister, Ruth Gann Sones and two grandchildren. She retired from Dupont where she worked in Industrial Engineering and died a life member of the James River Womens Club. For over 60 years she was a member of Stockton Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as teacher, deaconness and organist. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Stockton Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 42025, Richmond, Va. 23224.

GRONES
Evelyn Dixon Dillard Grones of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 1997 following a courageous and multi-year fight against cancer. Affectionately known as "War" to a legion of friends of all ages, she was a mother, wife and friend first and a "professional" volunteer second. She took pleasure in her occupation as a tree farmer for the family farm, "Westfield" in Hanover County, Va. Survivors include her three daughters, Katherine Carr Grones of Virginia Beach, Elizabeth Grones Leonard and her husband, G. Kyle Leonard Jr. of Sweet Briar, Va. and Linda Grones Koppenhaver and her husband, John Koppenhaver of Houston, Texas; and her three grandchildren, Carey Mason Koppenhaver, Kimberly Tams Koppenhaver and Dow Cole Leonard. A church service will be conducted Friday, June 13, 1997 at 4 p.m. in Galilee Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va. Saturday, June 14, 1997 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to the Tide water Chapter of the American Red Cross, 611 West Brambleton Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23508 or to Sweet Briar College, P.O. Box G, Sweet Briar, Va. 24595. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.

GUNDLACH
Herman Charles Gundlach, 86, of Mathews and Richmond, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy G. Battelle, Elizabeth G. Williams, and Constance G. Chitayat; and six grandchildren. Mr. Gundlach was founder of Gundlach Plumbing & Heating Co. and H. C. Gundlach Co. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Mathews. He was a member and former deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4103 Monument Ave. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your chapter of American Cancer Society.

HANSEN
Donald E. Hansen, 67, of Deltaville, formerly of Richmond, died June 11, 1997. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Carol (Tina) Harman and Kathleen (Kate) Hansen; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie Harman; and several friends. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where services will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment 2 p.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee.

HARRIS
Mr. Gilbert Conway Harris of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Holmes and is survived by Lillian Dean Harris; four daughters, Elinor (Midge) Flannagan, Charlotte (Gal) Ferrell, Patricia Green and Barbara Adkins; four sons, James (Bubba), Douglas (Junie), Ronnie and Jerry Harris; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vernell Robinson, Dorothy Robbins, Edna Davis and Jackie Mae Gusti; and one brother, Ray Harris. Mr. Harris was an Army Veteran of WWII. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Washington Memorial Park.

MARROW
Departed this life June 11, 1997, Mrs. Venelle Marrow of 1410 N. 24th St. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

MAYNARD
Died June 10, 1997 William Rose Maynard, 78, of Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Watfield Maynard, and best pal "Louie". Services will be held today 1 p.m. at Westhampton Baptist Church. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Westhampton Baptist Church.

McDANIEL
Died June 10, 1997, Irene Wells McDaniel, age 84, of Chester, Va., widow of Oney S. McDaniel. She is survived by her daughters, Mildred M. Jones and husband, Louis, Diane Turlington and Carolyn McDaniel; sons, Jerry N. McDaniel and wife, Kathleen, Barry N. McDaniel and wife, Dot; former daughter-in-law, Donese Smith; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. McDaniel was predeceased by a son, Lewis T. McDaniel. Her remains rest at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.

MCGHEE
Kathleen Sharp McGhee, of Kents Store, Va., died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, She is survived by her husband, Raymond E. McGhee Sr.; her son, Raymond E. McGhee Jr. of New York; her daughter, Gloria Mcghee Sellers of Powhatan; four brothers, Martin L. Jr. of Louisa, Grayson R. of Bumpass, Ollie R. of Highland Springs and Jack L. Sharp of Maidens; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her re mains rest at the Lacy Funeral Home, Route 522, Orchid, Va., where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Beulah Baptist Church, Kents Store, Va. with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Priscilla R. Mullins, 70 of Drakes Branch, died June 11, 1997. Services 7 p.m. tonight at Wood Funeral Service with visitation to follow. Interment Saturday, Clay, West Virginia.

NORTHEY
Charles A. Northey, 63 of 12000 Rosecroft Rd., Richmond, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. He was a Supervisor with the Virginia ABC Board. He is survived by his wife, Martha Jones Northey; one daughter, Jennifer N. Martineau and son-in-law, Brett Martineau of Powhatan; one brother, Milton "Buddy" Northey of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Hannah, Chester, and Austin Martineau. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel, South Boston, Va. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home, Thursday 7 to 8:30 p.m. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider the American Heart Association.

Hugh Gene Page, 63, of Richmond, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997. He is survived by his two daughters, Ginger P. Childress and Deana L. Page; his four sisters, Dora L. Page, Kay Evans, Pat Sledd and Louise P. Pitt man of Dillion, S.C.; five grandchildren, Laurie, Michael and Shaun Childress and Megan and Chasity Bertrand; and also a long time companion, Marie Jenkins. Mr. Page was the founder of the Carolina Inn Restaurant and up until retirement the manager of Tony's Restaurant. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, June 13. Interment Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

PARSLEY
Lillian B. Parsley, 81, of Richmond, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997. She was the widow of Russell L. Hutchison Sr. She is survived by her son, Rusty Hutchison, and his wife, Donna; her brother, William J. Bryant; her sister, Constance B. Showers; two grandchildren, April and Russ Hutchison; two nieces, Shirley Belkowitz and Nancy Broadwater. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chap el, 6900 Hull St Rd., where services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

Virginia Coleman Peace, active farmer and widow of William Eugene Peace Sr. of Hanover, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. She is survived by her children, William E. Peace Jr., Charlotte P. Haynes, John T. Peace and Debra P. Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a brother, Robert L. Coleman; two sisters, Louise C. Roberts and Mary C. Holt; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church or Ashcake Rescue Squad.

Mr. Donald W. Robertson, 77, of Richmond, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997. Graveside services will be held today 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.

Departed this life June 8, 1997, Mrs. Delories A. Royster of 323 N. 27th St. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy Royster; two daughters, Shelia Gay and Sandra Noble; parents, Will and Dorothy Avent; two grandsons, one brother, two sisters, several nieces and nephews, one son-in-law, one brother-in-law, other relatives and friends. Mr. Edward J. Saunders, (Doc), physical therapist in Richmond, entered eternal rest June 9, 1997. He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Saunders; children, Edward Jr., Renee and Delisa; two grandchildren; brother, Oliver Saunders; sister, Elizabeth Diggs; son-in-law, John Moore; several nieces; nephews; cousins; three devoted, Helen Green, Clara Hill and Sarah Saunders; other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, where his family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. After 10 a.m. Friday his remains will rest at Highland Park United Methodist Church where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Rev. Bailey officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be forwarded to Virginia Union University in honor of E.J. Saunders.
