GRIFFITH
Lynette Scott Griffith, 48, of Chesterfield, co-pastor of Unity Christ Church of Bon Air, died Sunday, May 11, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Gary Griffith; two daughters, Emily and Sara Griffith; mother, Jeanette Scott of Chesapeake; brother, Bill Scott of Virginia Beach; and one nephew. Mrs. Griffith was a teacher in the Chesterfield County Public School System and a co-leader with Girl Scout Troup No. 3031 in Midlothian. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Lynette Griffith Memorial Fund, c/o 2450 Cedarcrest Rd., Richmond VA 23235.

GROSECLOSE
Dawn Meredith Groseclose, 32, of Roanoke County, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 1997. Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph Cline and Eva Doughman Keith. Surviving are her mother, Joanna Keith Groseclose; her father, Laurence Arnold Boyd, Newport News; her sister and brother -in-law, Dana and John Tierney, New York City; her stepfather, Richard Glenn Groseclose, Rockville, Va.; her fiance, Michael Dennis, Winter Park, Fla. A funeral service will be held at Oakey's North Chapel Friday, May 16, 1997 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel. If they wish, visitors may bring a rose to place in a vase in honor of Dawn's life.

HANNAH
Mary Kelly Hannah, 76, of Midlothian, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn H. Miller; two sons, Robert K. and C. Thomas Hannah; her sister, Frances K. Hannah; seven grandchildren, Laura M. Hubinger, Elizabeth M. Taylor, R. Kelly Jr., Allison C., Willard T., Erin K. and Kristin K. Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Amber E. Miller and James V. Taylor. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Woodleaf, N.C. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

HARRIS
L. M. Harris Jr., died May 14, 1997. survived by his wife, Hazel A. Harris; two sons, L.M. "Joe" Harris III of South Hill and Michael "Mike" Harris and his wife, Karen Barker Harris and their daughter, April Lynn Harris, all of Union Level; six sisters, Maggie Detrick, Mary Tackett and Joyce Crutchfield, all of Richmond, Hazel Carter of Chase City, Dorothy Ann Davis of Boydton and Raydean Puryear of Hopewell. Service Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crowder-Hite- Crews Funeral Home. Interment Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation Friday 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. HUDSON
Dorothy Hudson passed away Thursday, May 15, 1997, at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Raymond M. Hudson in Powhatan County. Miss Hudson was the daughter of the late Henry Calvin and Nannie Winham Hudson. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Martin Hudson. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy H. Hall and her husband, Richard E. Hall, Sarah J. Hudson, Teresa Hudson and her husband, Joseph C. Troncale; as well as her sister-in-law, Jean H. Hudson. Miss Hudson was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was particularly active in the W.M.U., G.A.'s and Fidelis Class. She was a member and Real Daughter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and was past Historian of the President Davis Chapter of the U.D.C. Miss Hudson taught at Midlothian High School from 1928 to 1971. While she was a teacher, she was a member and past president of the Chesterfield Education Association and a member of the VEA. Upon retirement, she helped form the Chesterfield Retired Teachers Association, and was a founding member of the Goochland-Powhatan Retired Teachers Association, as well as many other retired teachers associations throughout Virginia. She was a member of the Virginia Retired Teachers Association and coordinator for the National Retired Teachers Association for several states. Miss Hudson was also a volunteer at Johnston-Willis Hospital from 1981 to 1987, and was very active in the Midlothian Senior Citizen's Association. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street, where family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday (today). Funeral services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17. Interment in church cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to the Bethel Scholarship Fund or a favorite charity.

JONES
Franklin Macon Jones of Fork Union, died May 14, 1997 in a Charlottesville Hospital. He was born August 27, 1934 in Arvonia, Va., a son of Mary Harding Jones and the late Roy Berkley Jones. Mr. Jones was a self- employed masonry contractor. He was a member of the Buckingham Moose Lodge No. 2104; the Old Dominion Moose Legion No. 148; held a life membership in the Fellowship 3rd Degree in the Loyal Order of Moose; and a member of V.F.W. 8169. Survivors include his mother, Mary Harding Jones of Arvonia; his wife, Joanne Snead Jones of Fork Union; a son, Franklin Keith Jones and his wife, Julie Kary Jones; four brothers, Truman C. Jones of Chester, W. Montel Jones of Richmond, B. Leroy Jones and Melvin R. Jones, both of New Canton; a sister, Eleanor Jones Greene of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Brittany Anna and Nathaniel Kent Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Buckingham Rescue Squad, the Fluvanna Rescue Squad or the Buckingham Moose Lodge. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 25 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Palmyra (Fluvanna County), Va. Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store is in charge of arrangements.

JORDAN
Gone to be with the Lord on May 14, 1997 Patricia Ann Jordan, age 55, from Mineral, Va. She is survived by her husband, J. Curtis Jordan; her mother, Virginia L. Barlow; her daughters, Denise Darby and Diane Bowie and son-in-law, Gene; her granddaughter, Gabrielle; her brother, Kenneth Barlow and his wife, Mary; also sister-in-law, Mildred Covington. Pat devoted her life to Christianity and was a long time active member of Mineral Baptist Church. Funeral services Saturday, May 17, 11 a.m. at Mineral Baptist Church. Interment at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. The Pastor, Jim Langham and Rev. Joel Rackley will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions may go to Richmond Youth Challenge, 2608 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23220, Attn: Ruth Lucas.

LIPSCOMB
Departed this life May 13, 1997, John H. Lipscomb of 1803 Georgia Ave. He is survived by five daughters, LaVerne L. Temple, Virginia L. Ritzberg, Burnadair L. Hunt, Sylvia L. Pride and Fahanna L. Holsey; one son, Cecil J. Lipscomb Sr.; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia L. Wilkerson; one brother, George J. Lipscomb Sr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two daughters-in-law, Joyce H. and F. Jacquelyn Lipscomb; five sons-in- law, James A. Temple, Charles Ritzberg, Jay Hunt, John D. Pride and Stanley Holsey; two sisters-in- law, Alice and Josephine J. Lipscomb; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where the family will receive friends Friday 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Saturday 1 p.m. at 6th Baptist Church, corner of Addison and Idlewood Ave., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. E.L. Fleming, Pastor, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assemble at the church 12:45 p.m.

MARTIN
Charlie C. Martin Jr., 71 of 9700 Overhill Rd., died Wednesday, May 14, 1997 in St. Mary's Hospital. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and a retired Art Director and Designer. Mr. Martin was a member of Three Chopt Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. Survivors include wife, Ann C. Martin; one son, Charles P. Martin and his wife, Judith; one daughter, Lynne A. Shortridge and her husband, Anthony, all of Richmond; one brother, Wayne A. Martin of Suffolk; four grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in Battery Park Cemetery with Rev. Carl Lamon officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. in their home, 9700 Overhill Rd., Richmond and suggests memorial contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Vol. Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229 or the American Institute for Cancer Research, Washington, D.C. 20069-2012. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield is handling arrangements.

MARTIN
Russell Broaddus Martin, 67 of Ashland, died Thursday, May 15, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Deborah W. Martin; his children, Leah Y. Martin, Michaux Lynn Lloyd and Russell B. Martin Jr.; his stepmother, Fannie M. Martin; two brothers, Roy P. Martin Jr. and Waverly Martin; two sisters, Virginia M. Taylor and Frances Marr; one granddaughter; several nieces and nephews, all of Richmond. Family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Westhampton Memorial Park. Mr. Martin was associated with R.P. Mar tin Seafood Co. for a number of years and was retired from the City of Richmond in 1992.

PACKARD
Died May 15, 1997, Brenda Irons Packard of Richmond. She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) Packard; her daughter, Dawn Medlin; her sons, Mark James Packard and Donald Bruce Packard; her mother, Ruth S. Irons; her brothers, James D. Irons Jr. and Jerry Irons; also her grandson, Thomas Edward Medlin. Family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road. Services will be held Saturday 1 p.m. in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of memorial donations, the family suggests that you consider organ donation.

ROWE
Anna D. Rowe, 89, of Midlothian, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Ann Brown of Hampton, Joan L. Rowe and Susan R. Meybin, both of Midlothian; two sisters, Grace Eure of Portsmouth, Eleanor Walker of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd. Funeral Mass will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Catholic Church of the Epiphany. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6767 Forest Hill Avenue, Suite 270, Richmond, Virginia. 23225-1851.

RYAN
Mother Lois B. Ryan, 88, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Ryan Sr.; two sons, Roscoe "June" Ryan, James Robert Ryan; and granddaughter Janice R. Hicks. She is survived by two sons, Clarence "Link" and Daniel L. Ryan; four daughters, Margaret Davis, Mary Smith, Elizabeth Best, and Ella Clark; 25 grandchildren among them devoted Robin Ryan; 23 great-grand children; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Barnes and Bessie McDonald both of Newark, N.J.; one daughter in-law, Dorothy Ryan; three sons in-law, Jesse Smith; Johnnie Best and Fred "Slim" Clark; two sisters in-law Belle Barnes and Lela Bowe; two brothers in-law, Rev. James Ryan and Frank Ryan; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles' Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 17th at 11 a.m. from New Canaan Pentecostal Church, 3459 Chapel Dr., where she was a faithful member, with Bishop Charles Settles officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. The remains will rest in church one hour prior to funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made the above named church.

SALE
Sarah Ellen Penn Sale, 97, of Richmond, widow of William C. Sale, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997. She is survived by her nephew, Lawrence R. Burton of Stuart, Va.; and a number of great-nieces and -nephews. Mrs. Sale retired after 48 years with the R&FP Railroad. She was a member of All Saints Reformed Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

SEAY
Charles Tilden Seay Jr., 52 of Highland Springs, died Thursday, May 15, 1997. He is survived by his father, Charles Tilden Seay Sr.; one daughter, Jennifer L. Austin of Highland Springs; one son, Charles Tilden "Chad" Seay III of Quinton; one sister, Jean S. Russell of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren, Kara N. Austin, Meredith L. and Madelyn C. Seay; a devoted friend, Alice Reinhardt. Mr. Seay was a retired member of the Local No. 666 Electrical Union. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Ashland.

SHORT
Nora "Lynn" Short of Powhatan, went home to be with the Lord, May 14, 1997. She is survived by her parents, The Rev. Herbert and Joy Short of Powhatan; two brothers; three sisters; nine nieces and nephews; and a host of many loving friends and family. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy., Powhatan. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in the Bethesda Church of God. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethesda Church of God Benevolence Fund, Powhatan, Va. 23139.

Departed this life Wednesday, May 14, 1997, Mrs. Hattie B. Simms of Richmond. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral notice later.

Mrs. Elvira Curtis Smith, of Richmond, died May 14, 1997. Remains rest at the Scotts Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

THOMAS
Memorial services for Anthony Thomas will be conducted Saturday, May 17, 1997, 1 p.m., at Kingdom Hall, 4305 8th St. and Masonic Lane, with John Dozier officiating. Survivors are his devoted wife, Annie Thomas; seven children, Katherine Jackson, Jean Bell, Theresa Jones, Phyllis Williams, Joni Young, Theodore Thomas Sr. and Phillip Thomas; 21 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; two sisters, Willie Rose Mitchell, Mary Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

THOMAS
Mr. Theodore R. (Teddy) Thomas, formerly of 1812 W. Moore St. (Newtown), departed this life May 15, 1997. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Torsarn (Tudy) and Brian Roebuck of Charlotte, N.C.; one grandson, Aaron Roebuck; ten sisters; two brothers; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends; one devoted, Norman (Zeno) Shelton. A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m. at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave., Rev. Dr. Clifton Whitaker officiating.

TUCK
Mr. Lewis W. Tuck, age 79, of Sandston, died Thursday, May 15, 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Early Tuck; and is survived by his two sons, Stephen E. and Robert L. Tuck; his two daughters, Connie T. Anderson and Alice T. Stewart; seven grandchildren. Mr. Tuck was retired from Ford Motor Company with 37 years of service; and was a volunteer at the Virginia Aviation Museum. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday; and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, Va.
