Mr. Victor Leland Haley, 68, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Mary Washington Hospital.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated ex-wife, Shirley A. Branch of Fredericksburg; a son, Robert Haley and his wife, Debbie of Milford; four daughters, Annette Scruggs and her companion, Willie McCumbers of Fredericksburg, Gloria Toler and her companion, Bobby Brookman of Ruther Glen, Dorothy Courtney and her husband, Bruce of Homosassa, Florida and Jerry Ann "Poo" Kerns and her husband, Daniel of Ladysmith; six sisters, Virginia Cox of Ruther Glen, Frances Wright of Milford, Betty Addcock and Dolphine Addcock, both of North Carolina, Elenor Smith and Linda Irby both of Norfolk, two brothers, Dan Haley of North Carolina and Jackie Wright of Canada; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren and "one on the way".
A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Joe Lipscomb officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-9PM Wednesday, January 19 at the funeral home.

Charlotte S. Ripka, 83, of Woodford, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Parham Health Care Center. Born in Pennsylvania, she was the widow of Roy C. Ripka.
Survivors include a son, Charles Ripka, Jr. of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Gloria Clarke of Richmond and LaRue Noel of Ruther Glen; seventeen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Iras Thompson and Hulda Ripka.
A funeral service will be Friday, January 14 at 2:00 PM in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Kevin James officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, 6:00-8:00 PM.

Forrest Rogers Dishman, 75, of Bowling Green died Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Born in Essex County, he grew up on Haymount Farm in Caroline and was educated in the Caroline school system, graduating in 1945.
He was the widower of Catherine A. "Cackie" Dishman, his wife of 47 years. He retired from the public works department of the city of Alexandria, after 38 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie Garnett and Elton Jett Fields Dishman; six brothers, Melvin, Norman, Floyd, Robert, Leslie and Hampton; and two sisters, Mary E. Eubank and Florence E. Talbert.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharee Lynne Skinner and her husband, Wesley, of Caroline, and Tamra Lynn Wheeler and her husband, Marty, of Louisa; three sons, William Forrest Dishman and his wife, Karen, of Gainesville, Florida, Bryan Keith Spurley and his wife, Wanda, of Caroline, and Donald Kevin Spurley of Caroline; and four grandchildren, James Michael Wheeler, Timothy James Spurley and Whitley Allen and Melanee Kathryn Skinner.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the 61st Engineer Searchlight Co., 8th Army 1st Corps, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
He had a lifelong passion for genealogy and was proud of his roots and family heritage. He was a resource for others in the community who shared this interest.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, January 12, at 11 a.m. at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Randy Newsome officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Marion W. Boykin, 80, of Bowling Green died Monday, January 3, 2005 at Bowling Green Health Care Center.
She was the widow of Jack C. Boykin and was a longtime employee of Kidwell's Foodland.
Survivors include a son, David W. Beazley of Bowling Green; a daughter-in-law, Constance Beazley of Bowling Green; two granddaughters, Leslie Graham of Midlothian and Cindy Gilbert of Ashland; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Clifton "Boo" Beazley.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Kevin Moen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 5 at the funeral home.

Clyde Clay Barlow, Jr.76, of Ruther Glen, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Mary Washington Hospital. Born in North Carolina, he had retired as a diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Madison Barlow; two daughters, Deborah Davis of Dillwyn and Wanda White of Ruther Glen; four sisters, Mae Barlow, Virginia Roe, Mildred Myers and Nancy Webb all of Richmond; two brothers, Edsel Barlow of Colonial Heights and Bruce Barlow of Florida; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ivan Davis, Michael Henry and Krystal White. He was preceded in death by his son, Clay Barlow.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 17 at 2;00 PM in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. Wayne Soloman officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Marye. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ladysmith Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 186, Ladysmith, Virginia 22501.

Martin Marvin Gierling, 61, of Sparta died Wednesday, December 21, 2005. He was a bus driver for Caroline County Schools.
Survivors include his son, Michael Gierling; two sisters, Carole Gierling White and Lynn Nault; and three brothers, Jeffrey Gierling, Walter "Randy" Gierling and Gregory Gierling.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, January 4, 2005 at the Sawan Kirpal Meditation Center, Bowling Green, Virginia.

Esther V. Blanton, 97, of Ladysmith, died Tuesday, January 10, 2005, at her home.
Survivors include four children, Elsie Taplett of Alexandria, June Thies of Springfield, Ray Blanton and Robert Blanton, Sr., both of Ruther Glen; two sisters, Kathryn David of Bethesda, Maryland and Louise Hart of Annadale; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, Nine great-great-grandchildren and her lifetime friend, Louise Gray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reid Blanton; and sons, Carroll and Harroll Blanton.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 13 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. John Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 53, Ladysmith, Virginia 22501.

Anne Pitts Bonchu, 62, of Alexandria died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at INOVA Alexandria Hospital after a lingering battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born in Caroline County, Virginia to Francis D. and Thelma A. Pitts, she grew up in the Sparta community. She was a member of First Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sparta. She had retired from the Disabilities Determination Services of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Alexia Anne Bonchu of Alexandria; two sisters, Mary Helms of Rehobeth Beach, Delaware and Jane McAllister of Winchester and her adored granddaughter, Amanie E. Bonchu-Stokes and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 17065 Seals Road, Bowling Green, Virginia. Donations in Anne's memory may be made to First Mt. Zion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1088, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Brewer Bruce Durrette, 67, of Woodford died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Caroline County, he was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, had retired from Motion Control and will always be loved by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Durrette; a son, Travis Durrette and his wife, Vicki, of Ladysmith; a daughter, Bonnie McKinney of Beaverdam; a brother, Lewis A. Durrette, Jr. and a sister, Brenda Kreeger, both of Ruther Glen; four grandchildren, Travis K. Durrette, William R. Durrette, Scott Durrette and Joshua B. McKinney; and three great-grandchildren, Julianna R. Durrette, Kyle H. Durrette and Kylie M. Durrette.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 5, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ruther Glen, with the Rev. Kendra Swager officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

Rufus Sadler Moore, Jr., 65, of Ruther Glen, went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 31, 2005 at his home.
Born in York, South Carolina, he had retired from Bear Island Paper Company, was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge #168 in Ashland, a charter member of the Moose Lodge in Callao and a member of the Goldwing Association of Fredericksburg.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Moore; two children, Angela Jean Jackson and Jonathan David Jackson both of Richburg, South Carolina; three sisters, Nancy Smith, Gina Moore, and Ann Lane and a brother, Hugh Moore all of York, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Christina Jean Jackson, Daniel Michael Johnson, Haylee Eileen Jackson and Hannah Mae Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2005 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with a Masonic service at 7:30 PM. Entombment will be Thursday, January 5 in Grandview Memorial Park, Rockhill, South Carolina.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Caroline Humane Society, P.O. Box 173, Port Royal, Virginia 22535.

Carol Anne Hayes Smith, 64, of Ruther Glen, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at her home. She was a member of Carmel Baptist Church and attended Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Millard A. Smith, Jr.; three daughters, Rene Smith Womack and Andrea Hayes Smith both of Ruther Glen and Rhonda Wynee Smith of Miami Beach, Florida; a brother, Harold Hayes of Ruther Glen; a granddaughter, Hannah Sage Womack and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hayes.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 27 at 11:00 AM in Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church, Ladysmith, with Rev. Charles Tillapaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Monday 7:00-9:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Wright's Chapel UMC Building Fund, P.O. Box 193, Ladysmith, Virginia 22501.

Robert M. Price, 84, of Bowling Green, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in Bowling Green Health Care Center. Born in Newport News, he was a 1939 graduate of Newport News High School and a 1943 graduate of VMI. During WWII, he served as a Captain in the Army Signal Corp. Following the war, he worked for a time with NASA until moving to Bowling Green and opening the Bob Price Ford Company in 1952. He than began a career as an electronic engineer with the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren and after his retirement in the late 1980's continued to work in his field with the defense contractor EG&G.; He was an active member of Bowling Green United Methodist Church and the Bowling Green Lions Club. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Newport News.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia P. Price; three children, Kathleen Price McCarthy of Sebastion, Florida, William M. Price II of Disputana and Martha Emerson Price Durant of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Daniel Patrick McCarthy, Kathleen Marie Durant, Andrew David Price, Melanie Joanne Durant and Caroline Louise Price.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 23 at 11:00 AM in Bowling Green United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Driver-Ray officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowling Green United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 513, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427.

Clarence Wayne Brooks, 61, of Milford died Friday, December 16, 2005.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Brooks of Milford, with whom he lived all of his life; a sister, Elsie Crowell of Bowling Green; four brothers, James O. Brooks of Bowling Green, David Lee Brooks of Georgia, John R. Brooks of Sparta and Charles R. Brooks, Sr. of Milford. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Lee Brooks; and a brother Leroy Brooks.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with the Rev. Tommy Satterwhite officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, December 19, at the funeral home.

Violet P. Vanover, 73, of Milford died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Clintwood, she had retired from the FBI Academy at Quantico. Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Lee; five daughters, Norma Recter of Fredericksburg, Sharon Cave of Mason Neck, Sandra Jarrells of Fredericksburg, Myra Schenemann of Milford, and Patricia Kahley of Ladysmith; three sisters, Eunice Crabtree, Shelby Conley and Reba Beverly; twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. A funeral service will be 11 Am Saturday, February 23, 2008 held in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Lakewood cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, February 22, 2008 at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Feed the Children, or American Cancer Society.

Thomas B. Yancey 72 Thomas Yancey of King George died Friday February 15, 2008 in Mary Washington Hospital. He was born on Gayton Farm in Henrico Co. VA. Gayton was a farm over the veins of Gayton Coal Mine which ceased operations in early 1900's.
He moved to King George County with his family in Jan. 1941. He retired, after 34 years of Government service from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, VA., with many commendations and awards. Prior to which he served from Aug 26, 1956 to Jul 5, 1960 with the US Air Force in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) with service both stateside and overseas. Since his retirement, he enjoyed research, writing, and the great outdoors. After about two years of research, he printed his research on his of the Yancey Family line entitled "Some Notes on Alexander Yancey and Mary Ann Elam and Green O'Berry and Elvira Parker", his great grandparents. Then after more research, approx. two more years, he printed in 1996 "Some Early Masons and Masonic Lodges in King George County, VA". He has had articles printed in The Free Lance Star, The Journal, and The Virginia Masonic Herald.
He was Past Master of Colonial Beach Masonic Lodge #199, in 1968, and Charter Past Master of Hudson-Morris Masonic Lodge #80, in King George, in 1980-81. He was Past District Deputy Grand Master of District #8, in 1985 and he was Past Patron and member of Wakefield Chapter No. 77, OES in Colonial Beach, VA.
He holds membership in Acca Temple, in Richmond; past member of the Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies; Royal Arch Chapter, No. 41 in Kinsale; Heritage Shrine Club in King George; Colonial Beach Masonic Lodge No. 199 in Colonial Beach; Hudson-Morris Masonic Lodge No. 80 in King George; Wakefield Chapter No. 77, OES; Lord Culpeper Council No. 152, Allied Masonic Degrees (AMD) and has been Secretary of Hudson-Morris Lodge since 1982. He has been Secretary/Treasurer of Jesse Jefferson Johnson Area Masonic School since Oct. 1998. He was a member of the King George County Historical Society and has presented some of his works to them. He served on the Educational Planning Committee for King George Co. in 1965. The Committee aided in the design of the Proposed New High School on Dahlgren Rd. around the needs of the County. This Committee, a small group of county residents, was chaired by Leon Rosenberg.
He served his county again, on the Board of Zoning Appeals from May 31, 1989 until Sept. 30, 1995. He then served his County on the North Central Regional Drug Task Force as Grand Juror before Jul 3, 1993 thru 1997. He also served on the Highway Safety Commission of King George Co. He was a life-long member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he was baptized Aug 8, 1947. He was elected Deacon on Dec. 4, 1963 and has served as Chairman many times. He has served as chairman on many committees in the Church and Sunday School and was Sunday School Director from 1967 though 1969. Beginning in 1988 and ending in 2005 he was the teacher of the Men's Adult Class and was made a Trustee of the Church in 1999.
In Boy Scout Troop 191 Tom has served as Committeeman for Publicity since 2002.
Mrs. Yancey, a Past Matron of Wakefield Chapter #77, OES, is the former Barbara J. Jett of Fredericksburg, VA. Mrs. Yancey and Bro. Tom resided in the Shiloh area of King George Co. and have a son David B. Yancey of King George; a daughter Laura A. Adams, and her husband Eric Adams of King George; his three grandchildren, Chaila Rigg, Bryant Rigg and Dalton Adams all of King George; his brother, H.B. Yancey and his wife Betty of Florida; nieces, Kristin Yancey of King George and Janet Wrona of Maine and nephew, Stephen Yancey of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Yancey and his brother, Joe Yancey.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday February 19th at 11:00 AM in Shiloh Baptist Church, King George, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson - Morris Masonic Lodge Building Fund or Shiloh Baptist Church Life Center.
