DETWILER
David Franklin Detwiler Jr., 70, of Onancock, Va. died Tuesday, November 20, 2001. Preceded in death by his parents, David Franklin Detwiler and Elizabeth Dawson Detwiler, he is survived by his wife, Nancy Hudson Detwiler; three children, David Franklin Detwiler III of Onancock and Elizabeth Taylor and Katherine Porch of Richmond; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, JoeAnn Marsh of Onancock and Patricia Hood of Mechanicsville; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Mr. Detwiler was a graduate of V.P.I. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Before retirement he was an aerospace engineer with NASA Wallops Island Flight Facility for 35 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, St. John's Masonic Lodge in Richmond and Chesapeake Lodge No. 158 AF&AM, and Past Worthy Patron of Onancock Chapter No. 82, Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Onancock, Va. Rev. Andrew H. Zeman officiating. Interment Fairview Lawn Cemetery with Masonic Services conducted at graveside. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, P.O. Box 24, Onley, Va. 23418. Arrangements by Williams Funeral Home, Onancock, Va.

DRANOFF
Morris Jacob Dranoff, 78, of Sandston, passed away Monday, November 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn J.H. Dranoff; two daughters, Cheryl Brinkley and Marilyn Ashby of Charlottesville; two stepchildren, Charles W. Harris and Nell Lewis; five grandchildren, David Ashby, Molly Ashby, Shea Walters, Misty Brinkley and Lori Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Walters and Jade Hash; three brothers, William H. Dranoff and his wife, Helen, Nathan E. Dranoff and his wife, Jeanne and Albert A. Dranoff and his wife, Laura; two sisters, Bertha Heller and her husband, Abe and Tillie Heller and her husband, Sam; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Dranoff was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from A&P Stores in 1985 and was a member of the Masonic Fraternal Lodge AF&AM No. 53, Washington Royal Arch Chapter No. 9, Manchester Royal Arch Chapter No. 48 and Masonic Scottish Rites Bodies. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21 at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

DUNHAM
Dorothy L. Dunham, 101, of Richmond, died Tuesday, November 20, 2001. She was the widow of Arthur L. Dunham. She is survived by her daughter, Louise D. Williams and her husband, Harold; two grandchildren, Elizabeth W. Bissett and her husband, Jimm and Harold J. Williams III and his wife, Suzanne; two great-grandchildren, Andrew M. and Caroline P. Williams; four nieces; two nephews. Mrs. Dunham was a member of Chapter Y, P.E.O. and Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Altar Guild of Grace & Holy Trinity Church or the Endowment Funds of St. Christopher's School or St. Catherine's School. Services will be held at a later time.

FALLER
Marie Faller, 89, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Richmond, passed away November 19, 2001 after a brief illness with pneumonia. She was a retiree of Reynolds Metals. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Akridge of Lakeland, Fla.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

FORLOINES
Edith Inez Keck Forloines, age 76, formerly of New Tazewell, Tenn., was born May 7, 1925 and passed away November 18, 2001 at her home in Richmond. She professed faith at an early age and attended New Bridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Forloines and in earlier years Tompie "Short" Keck; parents, Frank and Minnie B. Meyers; three brothers, Avril, Carson and Harrison Meyers; two sisters, Eula Mae Loveday and Gladys Watson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Micheal and Patricia Keck of Richmond; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Bob Widner, Barbara and Craig Owsley of Claiborne County, Tenn.; brothers and sisters, Dello Meyers, Hellen West, Katherine Yenck, all of Monroe, Mich., Joyce Dalton and Willard Meyers of Claiborne County; eight grandchildren, Sandy, Timmy, Bobby, Mike, Tonya, Shelley, Kelli and Kenny; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, Tazewell, Tenn. Burial in the Keck Cemetery. Minister, Rev. Charlie Widner. Singers, Liberty Quartet. Pallbearers, Roger Meyers, Kenny Wolfenbarger, Timmy Widner, Bobby Widner, Mike Keck and Johnny Buchanan.

GEORGE
Departed this life November 20, 2001, Mrs. Louise George of 1615 N. 24th Street. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral notice later.

GRAVES-TOMKINSON
Ann Graves Tomkinson, 79, of Richmond, died November 20, 2001. She was the widow of George W. Graves and Charles Tomkinson. She is survived by two children, Bill Graves and Vicki Mistr; two stepchildren, Patricia T. Chappel and Chuck Tomkinson; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, where services also will be held on Friday, November 23, 2001 at 11 a.m. Interment at Washington Memorial Park following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Acca Shrine Hospital Van Fund.

GRAVES
Ernest C. "Shorty" Graves departed this life on Wednesday, November 11, 2001. A widower of Marion Friend Graves and preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Tillie Graves; and brother, Walter Jr. Cherished by brother, Sylvester A. Graves Sr.; devoted sisters-in-law, Evelyn L. Graves and Janette Allen; also cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. The family will view from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at K.L. Jordan Funeral Services, 5008 Nine Miles Rd. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. GUNN
Ray Wilson Gunn, 75, of Charlottesville, died peacefully at his home Sunday or early Monday. Born December 2, 1925, in South Boston, Va., he was the son of the late R.W. and Lucy Meador Gunn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Kress Gunn; and a son, Keith Alan Thompson. He graduated from Elon College and retired from Virginia State Highway Department, Highway Research Council, and attended Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Curtis A. Thompson of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Valerie T. Daniels of Prince George, Va.; a sister, Mary Gunn Davis of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Verna Winters of Kilmarnock, Va.; five grandchildren, Stacey Cooke and husband, Thomas, Khristopher Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Diana Thompson and David Thompson; one great-grandson, Thomas Brent Cooke. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at Riverview Cemtery with Rev. Edward A. Hopkins officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Gordon Morris and to Rev. Edward A. Hopkins for their care and kindness. HAWKINS
Virginia Mae Davis Hawkins of Prince George County died November 20, 2001. Mrs. Hawkins was a native of Richmond and the daughter of the late Claude L. and Inez Latham Davis. She was a member of Hopewell Womans' Club, Ikebana Flower Society of Richmond and Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church of Richmond. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Stansfield Hawkins; daughter, Suzanne H. Latimer and husband, Michael of Toano, Va.; two sons, Barry L. Hawkins and wife, Donna, E. Stansfield Hawkins Jr. and wife, Claudia, all of Chester; six grandchildren, Mary-Catherine H. Jones, Brandon L. Hawkins, Karaline N. Hawkins, Christopher E. Latimer, Jessica M. Latimer, Adam L. Boyer; and one great-grandchild, Elizabeth J. Jones. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 23, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. Interment will be Saturday, November 24, 2001 at 11 a.m. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday until 4 p.m. after the service. HAYES
Anna L. Hayes, 68, of Ruther Glen, died Monday, November 19, 2001 at her home. Survivors include her husband, Harold Hayes; her mother, Ollie Layne of Ruther Glen; two sons, Audie and Wayne Hayes, both of Ruther Glen; two grandsons; two cousins, Elvin Baker of Shreveport, La. and Frank Baker of Ashland. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 23, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruther Glen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lady Smith Rescue Squad, P.O.Box 186, Ladysmith, Va. 22501 or Mary Washington Hospice, 2217 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.

HOLBROOK
John T. Holbrook of Maidens, Va. died Sunday, November 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; four children, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers. At John's request, there will be no funeral service, and memorials may be sent to Goochland Co. 5 Rescue Squad. Arrangements by Lacy Funeral Home, Route 522, Mineral, Va.

HORTON
James C. Horton, 69, of Richmond, died Monday, November 19, 2001. He is survived by his son, James C. Horton Jr.; his daughter, Janice C. Bryant and her husband, Owen. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Horton was retired from Tidewater Materials.

HOUSTON
Mrs. Hazel H. Houston, age 77, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, November 17, 2001. She is survived by her husband, John T. Houston Jr.; three children, Brad W. Houston of Virginia, Douglas A. Houston of New Kent and Clift P. Houston of Hanover; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Houston was a member of the Methodist Orphan Alumni Association. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Family Services, 3900 West Broad Street, Richmond, Va. 23230 or East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad.

McCANDLESS
Irene Carlton McCandless of Urbanna, formerly of Arlington, Va., died peacefully on November 20, 2001 at the Health Center of Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury in Irvington. A brother, Leonard Carlton of Irvington; a son, Lee McCandless and daughter-in-law, Giedre McCandless of Fairfax; and two granddaughters, Laura Hulcher of Burke and Alina McCandless of Fairfax, now residing in Hannover, Germany, survive her. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery in Urbanna. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Urbanna Baptist Church, P.O. Box 416, Urbanna, Va. 23175. Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda.

MILLER
Nancy Colvig Miller, 75, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 19, 2001. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Clinton F. Miller Jr.; one daughter, Kathryn "Fran" Tredway and her husband, Rick Tredway; and three sons, Clinton F. Miller III and his wife, Glenda L. Miller, David B. Miller, and John S. Miller and his wife, Debbie Miller. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Clinton Miller IV, Adam Sorrell, Laurel Miller, Tabatha Lewis, Candice Pecka, Nichole McDonald and Angie Coley. She was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 244, and DAR. She graduated from RPI with a bachelor's degree in arts, and taught music at St. Catherine's and in the Henrico and Hanover school systems. The family will receive visitors and friends at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Laurel Presbyterian Church.
