Mary Lee Herrick, 90 of Catlett, died Saturday January 31, 2009 in Fauquier Hospital. She was the daughter of Lucian and Elizabeth Jordan and one of nine children. She was born in Upper Zion, which is now a part of Ft. A.P. Hill, and lived for a number of years in Port Royal. After her school years, she lived in Washington DC and northern Virginia and it is there she met her husband, Russell A. (Bud) Herrick. In April 1957, they were blessed with a son, Russell A. (Rusty) Herrick Jr. After Bud’s death on April 7, 1964, Mary Lee had the responsibility of raising her son as a single mother, which was one of her greatest joys. After her retirement, she moved to Catlett to live with her son and share her life with yet another blessing; a beautiful granddaughter, Katie Lynne Herrick. Katie, too, was the joy and delight of Mary’s life. Upon moving to Catlett, she joined the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she met many friends and became active in the various activities of the church. One of her special activities was visiting and keeping in touch with the sick and shut-in. Throughout all of Mary Lee’s life, she was always a loyal and dedicated member of her family. Always supporting and helping with one and all, even at times when it wasn’t the easiest thing to do. She lived a long and caring life serving in all areas whenever and wherever needed. The book of Ecclesiastes tells us that for everything there is a season and a time. Mary Lee’s time and call has come and she had prepared herself to meet her Lord. Her advice and wish would be for all who remain, to prepare themselves to be ready when they receive their call. She indeed will be greatly missed. A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM in Greenlawn cemetery, Bowling Green. Friends and family will meet at Storke Funeral Home 111 S.
