KARIM
Tariq Ibn-Jamin Karim of Richmond departed this life July 24, 2002. He was born December 15, 1968 in New York City. He is survived by his parents, Benjamin and Linda Karim; his daughter, Talite; his son, Justin; brothers, Zaid, Gamal and Jahlil; grandmothers, Louise Smith of Rochester, N.Y. and Marjorie House of Israel; a devoted aunt and uncle, Pam and Ken Smith of Rochester, N.Y.; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral prayer will be said Friday, July 26, 2002 at 1:50 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Virginia, 1241 Buford Road. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Goochland County, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Islamic Center of Virginia or the American Cancer Society.

MALLORY
Fannie Bonaparte Mallory of 2200 Chalfont Dr., formerly of Powhatan Co., entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2002. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Maurice L. Mallory Jr.; two daughters, Dale Bonaparte-Moser (Larry), Sharon Mallory-Fitz (LaOverture); two sons, Dallas E. Mallory (Lori) and Ivan M. Mallory; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, devoted Dra'von; several aunts and uncles; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, among them devoted Vernell Frye, Yvonne Campbell and Joyce Anderson. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. Funeral services will be conducted at the Guildfield Baptist Church, Powhatan Co., Saturday, July 27, 1 p.m. Rev. William Moore III, pastor, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service. Delila J. Nicholson, age 43, of Richmond, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Clint A. Nicholson Sr.; and a beloved son, Malcolm A. Johnson; two stepsons, Clint Jr. and Shimell; and two stepdaughters, Sherell Loper and Aquia Nicholson. PEARSON
Charlie Edward Pearson Jr., age 58, of Prince George, Va., died July 23, 2002. He is the son of Charlie E. Pearson Sr. of Lawrenceville and the late Nell F. Pearson. Other survivors include his wife, Dr. Bonnie J. Pearson; three children, Ian Stewart Pearson and wife, Mandy of Emporia, Whitney Ann McDaniel and husband, Anthony of Chesterfield and Margaret Lauren Pearson of Prince George; a grandson, Casey Aaron Toone; and a brother, Morris O. Pearson of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville. Interment in Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery. PIERCE
Miss Doris Ann Pierce, 47, of Richmond, departed this life July 21, 2002. She was the daughter of Henry Holder and Mary Muse and stepdaughter of Johnnie Muse. A native of Richmond, she is survived by her daughters, Lakisha and Tiffany Pierce; grandson, Markee'; three sisters, seven brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the Woodville Presbyterian Church, 1728 North 28th Street. The Rev. Eleanor Pierce officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens.

RANDOLPH
Daniel F. Randolph, 78, of Glen Allen, formerly of Scotch Plains, N.J., died Monday, July 22, 2002. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel F. Randolph III and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanne S. Randolph; two granddaughters, Paige Randolph Albert of Seattle, Wash. and Lindsay Randolph Doyle of Concord, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Daniel Albert, Emma and Patrick Doyle; also one sister, Barbara Randolph of North Plainfield, N.J. Captain Randolph was a pilot with the 365th Bomb Squadron during World War II. He retired in 1988 as a Senior Vice President and Worldwide Manager of the Surety Dept. for Chubb & Sons, Inc. He volunteered for many years at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N.J. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 4825 Pouncey Tract Road in Glen Allen. SCHERMERHORN
Natalie Campbell Schermerhorn, 91, died at her Hanover County home July 24, 2002. She was the widow of R. Edgar Schermerhorn and is survived by her daughter, Natalie W. Schermerhorn. The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, Hanover Courthouse from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Church. SOUTHALL
James Faulconer Southall Jr., age 68, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Mary Washington Hospital. He served during the Korean Conflict and was service-connected retired from the U.S. Navy and was also retired from the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher. He was a member of Sylvania Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Jane Raines Southall; his children, Ashley Marie Southall of the home, Herbert H. "Herbie" Clark Jr. of Fredericksburg and Pamela Jane Martin of Spotsylvania; five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Covenant Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. R. Kenneth Brooks officiating. STAPLES
Irene Vernon Staples, 93, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2002. She was the widow of Luther M. Staples. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra S. and Robert Lee Wynne; sister, Louise V. Rock; granddaughter, Amy Saunders Trivette and her husband, Joel; grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Saunders and his wife, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Ruth Saunders and Ian James Saunders; stepgrandchildren, Christina Noel Wynne and Jonathan David Wynne. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Elizabeth M. Tucker of Mechanicsville, widow of Randolph A. Tucker, died Thursday, July 25, 2002. She is survived by her godchildren, John G. Hughes and his wife, Virginia M. Hughes and Blair H. Mudd and her husband, Robert G. Mudd; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, also many friends and neighbors. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Lou Grady Butcher Vaughan, 87, of Richmond, widow of Fred J. Vaughan, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Jessica Vaughan Pearman and James B., Anne Vaughan Moore and Jimmy, Fredrica Vaughan Coates and Mike; nine grandchildren, Kimberley, Bill, Natalie, Sandy, Kevin, Louanne, Lauren, Alivian and Michelle; three great-grandchildren, Leah, Adeline and Mirjan. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the Young At Heart Club. She volunteered for 17 years at St. Mary's Hospital and was a member of the College Hills Woman's Club and the Commonwealth Woman's Club. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. WOODALL
George William Woodall, age 80, of Richmond, passed away on July 19, 2002. Born in Winston Salem, N.C. to Basil and Mayme Woodall on January 15, 1922, he moved to Richmond in 1959. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He had a long, colorful career as a supervisor of Public Welfare and parole officer for the State of Virginia, as well as the assistant director of the Department of Professional and Occupational Registration. He attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force, training pilots to fly B-25s during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. An avid flyer, he loved the outdoors and was an accomplished gardener. He is survived by his lovely bride, Margie Barker Woodall; daughter, Marcy W. Hagen; and two sons, George W. Woodall Jr. and Michael G. Woodall; also four grandchildren; and his last surviving brother, Robert Lee Woodall. He was cremated by the Cremation Society of Virginia. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church.

WOOLRIDGE
Eugene "Gene" C. Woolridge, 69, of Colonial Heights, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond. He was the son of the late Lyle A. and Bessie J. Crump Woolridge. Mr. Woolridge was with the Rusco Window Company in Colonial Heights for over forty-nine years and owned the company for twenty-four years. He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Woolridge; son, Perry E. Woolridge and wife, Sandy of Chester; daughter, Darla W. Sizemore of Enon; three grandchildren, Nicole S. Burton, Tracy M. Sizemore and Alex S. Woolridge; and a sister, Geraline Cox of West Virginia; along with several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with the Rev. R. Roland Powell officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
