TERRY
Osby Terry Sr. of Richmond departed this life Tuesday, August 21, 2001. He is survived by his son, Osby Terry Jr.; two daughters, Lillie Mae McAllister and Betty Gray; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James and George Terry; several nephews, three sisters-in-law, one son-in-law, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Streets. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 24, 1 p.m., Zion Baptist Church, 2006 Decatur Street. Dr. Robert Pettis, pastor, officiating. Interment Maury Cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to service. Relatives and friends attending service assemble at the church Friday, 12:30 p.m.

WATTAM
Madelyn B. Wattam, 85, of Chester, died August 21, 2001. She is survived by one son and his wife, Ernie Wattam Jr. and Dianne of Missouri; one daughter and her husband, Barbara L. Patterson and Dewayne of Chester; one sister, Elsie M. Bramblett of Tennessee; and six grandchildren, Hillary Churchill, Ryan, Jennifer and Benjamin Wattam, Tony and Tiffany Patterson. A Christian Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Ann Catholic Church, Colonial Heights. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Assoc., 530 E. Main St., Suite 200, Richmond, Va. 23219. Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, Powhatan, handling services.

WELDER
Betty J. Welder, 65, passed away Monday, August 20, 2001, following a long illness. She is survived by her husband, David J. Welder; two daughters, Darlene W. Washburn and her husband, Timothy A. of Aiken, S.C. and Robin W. Riley and her husband, Timothy H. of Cumming, Ga.; a brother, George W. Dillon and wife, Sandra of Clarksville, Va.; three grandchildren, Abigail, Timothy Jr. and Andrew Washburn. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Church.

YEATMAN
Bertie Adell Yeatman, 86, of Callao, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001. Surviving are her daughter, Rosie L. Huntley of Strasburg; sons, William L. Yeatman of Callao and Albert H. Yeatman of Richmond; sisters, Mildred Buza, Fredericksburg, and Bessie Sammons, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 2 p.m. at Henderson United Methodist Church, Hyacinth. Interment in Northern Neck Memorial Gardens, Callao. Friends may call Thursday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Rainswood. Memorial contributions may be made to Callao Fire Dept., Callao, Va., or Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-2999.

BANKS
Mr. Rodney Eric Banks Sr., husband of Joyce N. Banks and son of the late Augustus and Daisy Bowles Banks, and an employee of Philip Morris USA, departed this life July 28, 2001. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving his family.

BENTLEY
Mildred S. Bentley, age 65, of Keysville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001. Surviving are her husband, William T. Bentley Jr.; one son, William T. Bentley III; two daughters, Gail B. Amos of Buckingham, and Debra B. Hatcher of Richmond; one sister, Nancy S. Fowler of Charlotte Court House; one brother, Jimmy Shook of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Browning Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Charlotte County Rescue Squad or your favorite charity.

BILLUPS
Mary Catherine Williams Billups, departed this life on July 26, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Billups Sr. She is survived by her children, Irene D., Mary E. and James Billups Jr. and Carolyn A. Lewis; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Flossie M. Winston (Lloyd) and Annie P. Campbell; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 1 p.m. Rev. Ronald C. Taylor Sr. officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

BRUCE
Jennie R. Bruce, age 96, of Richmond, formerly of Amelia County, died Saturday, July 28, 2001 in Richmond, Va. She is survived by nieces, Mary Hudson and Janie Satterfield, both of Baltimore, Md.; several cousins and friends, among them, the Landon Garland family of Richmond. Funeral services Tuesday, 1 p.m., Manassas Hill Baptist Church, Amelia. Rev. C.L. Turner, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements by V.Y. Scott Funeral Home, Amelia.

COLEMAN
Josephine C. Coleman, 89, of Richmond, passed away July 29, 2001. She was the widow of William J. Coleman. She is survived by two sons, Michael William Coleman and his wife, Nicole of New Kent, and Anthony R. Coleman and his wife, Sharon of Richmond; a sister, Mary Cireneise; and a brother, Paul Castro, both of Florida; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Jeremiah, Joshua, Alexandria, Jeffrey, Michelle and Melissa; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Coleman was born in Enna, Italy and was a resident of Powhatan County for many years. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and where a Rosary service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery.

COLLIER
Andrew G. Collier Sr., of Chesterfield, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Elsie Collier. He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Collier; daughter, Sandra J. Collier of Chesterfield; three sons, Everette Andrew Collier and wife, Janet, George Sidney Collier, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Andrew G. Collier Jr. of Chesterfield; sister, Elsie Tinder of Chesterfield; also four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Collier was the owner and operator of Lakeside Electric Company. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Morrissett Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

COTMAN
Mrs. Marion J. Cotman of Richmond died July 28, 2001. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral notice later.

Departed this life July 29, 2001, Lynburg Dandridge of St. Stephens Church, Va. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. McCarthy, Director.

FETTY
Floyd L. (Dicky) Fetty Sr., 62, of Ashland, departed this life July 27, 2001. He is survived by Mary Ann McCartney, a devoted friend and mother of his children, Kathy, Brenda, Robin, Timothy Randy, Chris and Floyd Jr.; five siblings to cherish his memory, Mary, Ralph, Sam, John and Shirley; 14 grandchildren; and devoted friends, Forrest Walker, James Lam, Charles McCartney, Pam Ambrose and Sarah Estes. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reid Funeral Home, Ashland, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Interment Forest Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GRAHAM
Jesse Graham, 70, of Richmond, departed this life unexpectedly Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Retreat Hospital. Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by devoted friends, Angelo Jimenez, Roger Critchfield, John Sanyour, Pat Campbell, Kay Boyd; and several nieces and nephews. He is the godfather of Joseph Angelo Roe. Mr. Graham was born in Roanoke and raised in Danville, Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. Jesse embarked on a career in sales, ultimately launching his own companies, Richmond Wholesale Co. and United Surplus stores in downtown Richmond for many years. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett, Va., is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Billups Funeral Home in Church Hill, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

GRAY
W. Garvin (Louie) Gray, 80, of Midlothian, died on Saturday, July 28, 2001 at Johnston-Willis Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Andrews Gray; one daughter, Deborah Gray Jackson; son-in-law, David R. Jackson; two grandsons, Gray Jackson and his wife, Kelly, and Drew Jackson; one sister, Fay Butler; and many nieces and nephews. He was a 50 year member of Thomas N. Davis Lodge No. 351, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies of Richmond, and ACCA Temple Shrine of Richmond. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He actively participated in several local senior groups and was an avid bowler. Louie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a good friend to all who knew him. He will be missed very much. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment Maury Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Marie Porter R.N. for her devotion and abiding care.

JACKSON
Bernice A. Smith Jackson of Richmond, quietly entered into eternal rest July 27, 2001 after a long illness at Henrico Doctors Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Jackson. She leaves to mourn her loving daughter, Barbara C. Robinson and her husband, Charles of Glen Burnie, Md.; grandchildren, Charles IV, Jacqueline Neville, Carolyn Snowden, Timothy and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry and Thaddeus Smith; uncle, Fred Harvey; two sisters-in-law, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. Maurice Smith officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Inc.

JAMES
Mrs. Barbara Lee James, 72, of Ramsey Ave., Hopewell, died Saturday, July 28, 2001. She was born in Dinwiddie County and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mrs. James was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Sadie Mae Corning Sadler and the widow of Maurice Abbott James. Surviving are three daughters, Betty J. Brittle of Chesterfield, Alice J. Colcleaser of Hopewell and Mary Ann James of Eugene, Oregon; three grandchildren, Karen Stanton, James Colcleaser and Jason Colcleaser; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Stanton and Misty Stanton; two sisters, Ann Caulder and Brenda Norwood, both of Colonial Heights; three brothers, Jack Sadler of Jamul, Calif., George Sadler of Colonial Heights and Wayne Sadler of McKenney. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopewell Food Pantry.
