Michael T. Champion
The funeral for Michael Todd Champion, 42, of Chatmoss Court Ext., Martinsville, who died Dec. 11, 2004, was held Monday at Norris Funeral Services chapel with Pastors Tim Whitehart and Don Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Charles Corbett, Keith Denny, Eddie Yarbrough, Lawrence Brame, Eddie Utt, Anthony Burton, Kevin Brame, Calvin Brame, Dwayne Adams, Daryl Champion, Sheldon Wright, Eddie Hawks and Brad Wilson.

Milton A. Cox
PHOENIX--Milton Andrews Cox, 72, formerly of Lynch Station, Va., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Phoenix.
He was born May 8, 1932, in Lynch Station, to Wyatt Reid Cox and Lockie West Cox. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were a son, Michael Cox; and five brothers, Richard, Robert ÒPete,Ó Harry, Douglas and John ÒTeenyÓ Cox.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bates Cox of Phoenix; three daughters, Margo Dewhurst, Barbie Jungling and Christine Cox, all of Phoenix; a stepson, Brandon Robinson of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Wyatt Arnold Cox of Altavista, Va., and Warren Cox of Lynch Station; three sisters, Elizabeth ÒMillieÓ C. Marsh of Cheraw, S.C., Lucy C. East of Martinsville, Va. and Kitty C. Cox of Altavista; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service in Altavista, is in charge of arrangements.

Genoa E. France
The funeral for Genoa Mae Elgin France, 79, of 1463 Trent Hill Drive, Bassett, who died Dec. 11, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Bassett Church of the Brethren. The Revs. Gary Edwards and Roy McVey will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
Memorials may be made to Bassett Church of the Brethren, 34 Brethren Road, Bassett, Va. 34055, or the
Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 2728 Colonial Ave. SW, Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015.
She was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Franklin County to Charlie Howard Elgin and Pearl Mae Martin Elgin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dickie France.
She was a member of Bassett Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship, choir and Senior Citizens Club.
A License Practical Nurse (LPN), she retired as a operating room nurse from Memorial Hospital in Martinsville with 23 years service.
Surviving are her husband, Cecil France of the home; two sisters, Mildred Elgin Maye of Collinsville and Pauline Kearns of Black Mountain, N.C.; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Collins Funeral Services in Bassett is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Gillispie
The funeral for Ruby Gillispie, 79, of Henry, who died Dec. 9, 2004, was held Monday at Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett. The Rev. Terry Covey officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Ferrum.
Pallbearers were Bill Mabe, Jerry Harold, J.R. Holley, Ricky Sutphin, Richard Christy and Wade Fulp.

Betty Jean Hodges
The funeral for Betty Jean Hodges, 68, of Bassett, who died Dec. 10, 2004, was held Monday at New Vision Baptist Church. The Revs. J.D. Harmon and Greg Thomas officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Jeff Via, Henry Hodges, Eric Hodges, Mike Hodges, Dale Wagoner and Jay Clark.
Bassett Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

Carlene H. Palmer
EDEN, N.C.--Carlene Holt Palmer, 71, of 720 Spring St., Eden, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Rockingham County, to Burlie Holt and Lucy Joyce Holt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Hill Anderson. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills.
Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Angel of Madison; two sons, Barry Michael Hill of Martinsville, Va., and Gerald Hill of Bassett, Va.; a sister, Diane Hawkins of Eden; a brother, Larry Holt of Madison; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home.
The family will also receive friends at the home at 720 Spring St., Eden.

Samuel A. Robertson
The funeral for Samuel Addison Robertson, 67, of 1640 Fairfield Drive, Henry, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at his home, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Collins Chapel in Bassett. The Rev. Wilbern Meeks will officiate. Burial will be in Henry Memorial Park.
Visitation was held Monday evening at Collins Funeral Services. The family is also receiving friends at the home at 1640 Fairfield Drive in Henry.
Memorials may be made to Greater Vision Church, 100 Hale St., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or Oak Level Baptist Church, 7720 Oak Level Road, Bassett, Va. 24055.
He was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Franklin County to Willie Taylor Robertson and Annie Pearl Allman Robertson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Davidson and two brothers, Irvin Robertson and Silas ÒGeeÓ Robertson.
He was employed by the Lane Co. in Rocky Mount for 18 years in the sample department. He was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Robertson of the home; three daughters, Lora R. Sink and Susan Gillespie, both of Rocky Mount, and Shelley Turner of Woolwine; two sons, Randal Robertson of Rocky Mount and Joe Clark of Collinsville; five sisters, Ernestine Hodges, Louise Hammock and Dorothy Forbes, all of Rocky Mount, Beulah Dillon and Betty Jean Young of Glade Hill; two brothers, James Aubrey Robertson of Ridgeway and Calvin Robertson of Rocky Mount; and 10 grandchildren.

Clara H. Stone
The funeral for Clara Bell Hinson Stone, 73, of Bouldin Road, Ridgeway, who died Dec. 10, 2004, was held Monday at Norris Funeral Services with the Rev. James Jordan officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park.
Pallbearers were Charles Bradshaw, Bill Hinson, H.D. Hinson, Tinker Hinson, Clay Hinson, Tonie Hinson, Clifton Stone, Ralph Morris, Ralph Owens and Lynn McDonaldson.

Harry L. Whitlow
The funeral for Harry Lynwood Whitlow, 66, of 68 Wall St., Bassett, who died Dec. 10, 2004, was held Monday at Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett with Brother Harry Shelton officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard of Martinsville and Henry County. The flag presentation was made by Sgt. 1st Class Jude Holman and Sgt. Wanda Morgan from a military unit in Salem.
Pallbearers were Bill Slate, Doug Slate, James Adkins, Scott Clifton, Tommy Walker, Richard Catron and James Stophel.

Coy L. Woods
Coy Lester Woods, 83, of 2965 Green Level Road, Rocky Mount, died Dec. 12, 2004, at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount.
He was born in Franklin County on July 1, 1921, to Maude Mae West Wood and George M. Woods. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hobert Woods and John Thomas Woods.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He owned and operated a gas station and been a driver of the Senior Citizens Van in Martinsville. He was a member of the Collinsville Baptist Church.
He is survived by a sister, Leoda Muck of Hurricane, W.Va.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tracy Freemam officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
Visitation will be held at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until t the service Wednesday.
