THOME
Robert Frederick Thome Jr., age 66, passed away December 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Connie M. Thome; daughter, Laura T. Bartnicki; sons, David Thome of Richmond, Eric Thome of Stutgart, Germany; and granddaughter, Olivia Bartnicki. Mr. Thome attended V.P.I. He retired president of Dupont Fibers Federal Credit Union and currently was employed part-time with the Better Business Bureau, Elder Fraud Program. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Road. Services will be Wednesday in the Chapel of Woody Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

AGUILAR
Juana C. "Nita" Aguilar, 87, of Richmond, widow of Jose Rey Aguilar, went to be with the Lord April 2, 2002. She is survived by two sons, Fabian C. and his wife, Mila Aguilar of Richmond and Celestino C. and his wife, Grace Aguilar of Valinda, Calif.; daughter, Maria Lourdes and her husband, Sid Catotico of Richmond; two brothers, Tomas and Francisco Cortez; and a sister, Josephine Cortez, all of the Philippines; eight grandchildren, two great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday and Saturday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd. Departed this life March 31, 2002, Mrs. Maggie Barnes of 3017 Edgewood Ave. She is survived by one uncle, Vernon Kearney; two aunts, Katie and Ruth Kearney; several cousins, among them, Rosa Ann Jones; life long devoted friend, Irene Jenkins. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where remains may be viewed Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Remains will be forwarded to Warrenton, N.C. for funeral and interment at Coley Spring Baptist Church, Sunday.

BAYLOR
Emmette E. "Doom" Baylor, 31, of Charles City, departed this life March 31, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Baylor Sr. He is survived by his devoted family, mother, Madeline Baylor; sister, Mildred "Penny" Crewe; brother-in-law, Lawrence Crewe Sr.; two nephews, Lawrence Jr. and Terrel Crewe; two aunts, one uncle, a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. At noon Saturday Mr. Baylor will rest at Union Baptist Church, where services will be held 2 p.m. Rev. Tommy Drayton officiating. Interment church cemetery. Please omit food.

BOTTOMS
James W. Bottoms, 81, of Bumpass, Va., passed away April 2, 2002. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a retired ironworker with Local No. 28. He is survived by his wife, Norma Harlow Bottoms; two sons, James W. Bottoms Jr. and Bernard L. Bottoms and his wife, Kathy; three grandchildren, Angela K. and Christopher L. Bottoms and Laura Matteoni; a niece, Susan B. Schnupp; and a nephew, William J. Bottoms. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Louisa County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1777, Louisa, Va. 23093.

BRADSHAW
Matthew King Bradshaw, 81, of Richmond, died at a local hospital April 2, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy D. Bradshaw. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth A. Bradshaw; and a son, Michael K. Bradshaw, both of Richmond; two sisters, Henrietta Kissner and Cynthia Wilson, both of Magnolia, N.C. He was retired from DuPont. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He loved visiting with his family and friends, playing cards, fishing and his dog, Jake. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment Maury Cemetery. BURNETT
Louise H. Burnett, of Ashland, departed from this life April 3, 2002. She was the widow of Quinby C. Burnett. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara B. Flemmons and her husband, Tom; two sons, Quinby C. Burnett (Sonny) and his wife, Nancy and Vernon L. Burnett and his wife, Yvonne; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reid Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Paul Cohen of Richmond, widower of Dorothy Cohen and Rose Bass, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002. Survived by his son of Florida; two grandchildren, Madeline and Roger; two nieces, Ruth Fine and Roberta Neblett. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Hebrew Oakwood Cemetery. COOPER
Jessie Cooper of Baltimore, Md., departed this life April 2, 2002. She leaves to mourn one daughter, Darlene Cooper of Baltimore, Md.; one son, Dennis Cooper of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Vernie Smith of Richmond, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her remains rest at Phillips Funeral Home, Baltimore, Md. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church, Baltimore, Md. Her love and presence will be greatly missed.

Ann Newton Dean of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2002. Survivors include her two daughters, Carolyn Hall and her husband, Robert and Connie Gee and her husband, Charles; three granddaughters, Tracy and Angela Hall and Laura Gee; a brother, Franklin R. Newton and his wife, Jean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Dean. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. DERMAN
Ann K. Derman (nee Keil), age 67, died Monday suddenly at her home in Somerdale, N.J. She is survived by her husband, Ray E. Jr.; two sons, Dr. Ray E. Derman III of Chews Landing, N.J. and Sean Hampton Derman of Somerdale, N.J.; four daughters, Catherine Ann Derman of Boston, Mass., Lisa Lenora Wagner of Williamstown, N.J., Heather Marie Barracliffe of Somerdale, N.J., Amy Jane Derman of Williamstown, N.J.; also a brother, Charles Frederick Keil of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Mrs. Derman was born in Richmond, Va. and attended Greensboro College and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerdale, N.J., where she served in the choir and as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Derman was a loving mother and grandmother, and she had a life that was rich in music, art, history and a genuine love for her family. Her children could not have asked for a more loving mother and grandmother, and they wish her eternal happiness. Her remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. EBERHARD
Helen C. Eberhard passed away Sunday, March 31, 2002 at age 88. She is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl Kleist and her husband, Gary of Webster, N.Y.; and granddaughter, Joye of Atlanta, Ga. Also survived by her brother, Robert Eberhard; and sister, Alice Mays; both of Richmond. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday. FEEBACK
Larry Arthur Feeback, 61, of San Diego, Calif., died Sunday, March 31, 2002. He is survived by his son, Arthur L. Feeback; a brother, Richard E. Feeback; and two sisters, Shirley F. Brown and Brenda F. Simpson. Burial will be private.

FRANKE
Gustav H. Franke Jr. of Hampden-Sydney, Va., passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002. Lt. Col. Franke was a retired Army officer with a distinguished career of 23 years, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded numerous medals for bravery in action to include several Silver and Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He was a mathematics professor, as well as the golf coach at Hampden-Sydney College from 1964 to 1981. During this time his golf teams won many honors for the college and went to the NCAA Division III Championship five times. In 1990 a new college golf driving range was dedicated in his honor for his leadership and contributions in working with the young men at HSC. Col. Franke is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Watson Franke; his daughter, Marianne Wells and her husband, Robert Eugene Wells Jr. and their four children, Mary Louise Wells, Robert Eugene Wells III, Jennifer Noble Wells and Alison Franke Wells. Also surviving are his son, Col. (Ret.) Gustav W. Franke and his wife, Betty Via Franke and their two children, Ansley Augusta Via Franke and Gustav W. Franke II. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. in the College Church at Hampden-Sydney, Va. Please do not send flowers, instead, please make a donation in his name to your favorite charity or cancer fund.

Mrs. Bessie Fuller entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2002. The staff of the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home is serving her family.

GARRETT
Hazel Hall Garrett, 85, of Virginia Beach, widow of Stacy F. Garrett Jr., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002. She was a registered nurse having graduated from the Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ann H. Garrett of Virginia Beach; her son, Stacy F. Garrett III and his wife, Linda of Midlothian; and two granddaughters, Sara Rebecca Garrett and Rachel Courtney Garrett. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond.
