Olene Gladys King Krall

Olene Gladys King Krall, 77, of Roseville, Calif., died Aug. 28, 1997, in a Sacramento care center.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, with the Rev. Wayne King of Richmond officiating.

She was a native of Wythe County and had been a resident of Roseville, Calif. for 39 years. She was a member of the Roseville VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a daughter of the late Percy McPherson and Mallie Newman King.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Francis M. Krall.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Lee Jarvinen of Rocklin, Calif.; a son, Francis Michael Krall of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Eric Michael and Emily Kristine Jarvinen of Rocklin, Calif.; four sisters, Marie Edmonds, Ruth Jones, both of Austinville, Ruby Shepherd of Galax, and Gayle Harris of Norfolk; and a brother, Mac King of Virginia Beach.

Lambert Funeral Home in Roseville, Calif. was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Lawrence Leonard

Thomas Lawrence Leonard, 69, of Galax died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, in Lewis-Gale Hospital.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Brandy Morrison officiating. Interment was in the McKenzie cemetery.

He was born in Grayson County, on Jan. 4, 1928, a son of the late Otie Leonard and Charlotte Bartlett Leonard.

He is survived by his wife, June Leonard of Galax; a daughter, Charlotte Bowen of Brownsville, Texas; a son, Michael Leonard of Galax; three stepdaughters, Mardelia Atkins of Bedford, Karen Bobbitt, and Doris Whisenhunt, both of Galax; six sisters, Louise Cooley, Lucille Carr, Lillian McMillan, Gaye Hale, Betty Jennings, and Carolyn Cox, all of Galax; three brothers, Ray Leonard, Robert Leonard and Gene Leonard, all of Galax; and 10 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home in Galax was in charge of the arrangements.

Julia Mae Sharpe McClintock

Julia Mae Sharpe McClintock, 65, of Wytheville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.C. McPeak officiating. Interment will follow in the West End cemetery.

She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clifford L. and Minnie Lee Eversole Sharpe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. McClintock; and a daughter, Linda Carol Mills.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Billy Barker of Wytheville, Ruby and Kenneth "Dicky" White of Atlanta, Ga., Pamela Keith and Michael Viars of Max Meadows, and Toni Ann and Rickey Sexton of Wytheville; five grandchildren, Ami Jo White, Gregory Lynn Mills, James "Jimmy" Keith, Sonia Denise Cummings, and Tiffany Sexton; one great-grandchild, Courtney Peyton Cummings; one sister, Mrs. Wayne (Peggy) Copenhaver of Crockett; four brothers, Donald Sharpe of Marion, Richard "Dickie" Sharpe of Floyd, John "Johnny" S. Sharpe of Richmond, and Ricky Sharpe of Alexandria; and a special friend, J.C. Cline.

Jared Lee Armbrister

Jared Lee Armbrister, 16, of Concord, Ala., died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, as the result of a house fire.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 24, at 11:30 a.m. at Brown Service West Chapel in Alabama. Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Old Union Baptist Church cemetery in Mississippi.

He was a member of Earnest Methodist Church in Hueytown, and a student of Hueytown High School.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry L. Armbrister, formerly of Wythe County; his paternal grandparents, Randolph Armbrister and Margaret Lou Edmonds Von Cannon; his paternal great-grandparents, Lonnie Ernest and Margaret Ann Nelson Edmonds.

Survivors include his mom, Linda Armbrister of Concord, Ala.; two aunts, Betty Livingston of Tennessee, and Suzanne Ogle of Max Meadows; two uncles, Norman Weems of Bessemer, Ala., and Dan Kegley of Chilhowie; a step-grandmother, Nancy Kegley of Wytheville; two special cousins, Courtney Sheffey and Micah Sheffey, both of Max Meadows; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Armbrister Memorial Fund at NBC Bank in Hueytown, Ala.

Brown Service West Chapel in Hueytown, Ala., was in charge of the arrangements.

Etta Mae Hall Cregar

Etta Mae Hall Cregar, 93, of Ceres, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Sharon Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sammy Shupe and the Rev. Bill Dale officiating. Interment followed in the Sharon Lutheran Church cemetery.

She was born in Tazewell County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Peak Hall. She was a member of the North Holston Church in Ceres.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Alec "Obie" Cregar; three sons, Edgar Randolph Cregar, James Calvin Cregar and Louis Alec Cregar Jr.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Mae Cregar of Ceres, Glenna Kirk of Independence, and Virginia Ruth Harris of Florence, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Newberry Funeral Home in Bland is in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Keesling Hundley

Clara Keesling Hundley, 106, of Wytheville, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Countiss officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View cemetery in Rural Retreat.

She was a member of the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Norwood Hundley.

Survivors include a niece, Evelyn Keesling; four great-nieces, Carolyn Willis, Nancy Brickley, Patsy Carrier, and Kitty McBride; two great-nephews, Julian Sisler, and William J. Keesling; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and two special friends, James C. and Rachel B. Lindsey of Rural Retreat.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home, prior to service time.

Albert Lee Ingoe Jr.

Albert Lee Ingoe Jr., 69, of Route 5, Wytheville, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Robert Layell officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen cemetery.

He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late Albert Lee Sr. and Lillie Mozelle Walters Ingoe. He was a member of the Evergreen United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two stepfathers, Carl Weaver Jolley, and Harvey Miller Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Bourne Ingoe of the home; a daughter, Debbie Ingoe Aker of Wytheville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Wayne and Brenda Sue Corvin Ingoe of Wytheville; two grandsons, Jason Brian Aker, James Michael Ingoe; and two granddaughters, Amanda Gail Ingoe, and Savannah Noel Aker.

Francis E. Knoll Jr.

Francis E. Knoll Jr., 73, of Wytheville, formerly of Tazewell County, died Thursday, Oct. 23, at a Roanoke hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Johnny Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield.

Born April 15, 1925, at Philadelphia, Pa., he was a son of the late Francis and Debri Blanche Knoll. He was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ at Mudfork.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Hayes Knoll; and one brother, Joseph Knoll.

Survivors include one brother, Thomas Knoll of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Charles Rickey

Robert Charles Rickey, 75, of Max Meadows, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in the Roanoke Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Richard Lindamood officiating. Interment will follow in the West End cemetery. American Legion Post No. 9 will conduct graveside military rites.

He was the son of the late Charles and Alvertie Porter Rickey. He was a Wythe County farmer and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Forrest R. Cole, and Sallie R. McKelvey; and a brother, Boyd D. Rickey.

Survivors include two sisters, Maude R. Umberger of Wytheville, and Agnes Rickey of Max Meadows; two brothers and sister-in-law, Russell A. Rickey of Randolph House in Pulaski, and Herbert H. and Betty Rickey of Wytheville.

Norma Jean Gray Rosenbaum Aldridge

Norma Jean "Jeannie" Gray Rosenbaum Aldridge of Henderson, Ky., formerly of Salem, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, in the Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Ky.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. James Bayne. Interment will be in the Bethany Lutheran cemetery, Cripple Creek.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Ray Rosenbaum, and Terry Lee Rosenbaum Aldridge.

Survivors include her husband, Billie A. "Bill" Aldridge of Henderson, Ky.; a daughter, Dawn Marie Reinhard of Clay, Ky.; three grandchildren, Desiree, Franklin and O.R.; her father and stepmother, Malcolm and Lorraine Gray of Dublin; her mother, Peggy Ward of Kathleen, Fla.; and several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. until service time.

Frances Richardson Burnette

Frances Richardson Burnette, 77, of Route 2, Max Meadows, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, in the Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Larry Barnes, the Rev. Donald Byrd and the Rev. A.C. Ashford officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul cemetery.

She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late David H. and Florence Hardy Richardson. She was the cafeteria manager at Sheffey Elementary School for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, Howard D. Burnette; two sons, David Burnette of Edinburg, and Darrell Burnette of Woodlawn; three grandsons, Mark Burnette of Edinburg, Kevin Burnette, and Sean Burnette, both of Galax; two nieces, Betty Viars of Fort Chiswell, and Frances Richardson of Newport News; and one nephew, Ronnie Richardson of Salem.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home or at the residence at any time.

Allen Eugene Coe Sr.

Allen Eugene Coe Sr., 56, of Route 1, Austinville, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Austinville with the Rev. Randy Morris, the Rev. Rick Lindamood, and the Rev. Mike Johnston. Interment followed in the West End cemetery.

He was born in Meadowview, a son of the late Hasel Scott and Mattie Mae Garland Coe. He was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Moose. He was retired from Preston Trucking Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Holbrook Coe; a son, Nicholas Keith Coe; a daughter, Cynthia R. Wheeler; and a brother, Robert Edward Coe.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Louise and Buford Grubb Jr. of Max Meadows; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen E. Jr. and Helen Coe of Austinville; two sisters, Betty Smith of Stony Fork, and Elva Sauls of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Hasel Wayne Coe of Baltimore, Md., and William Alfred Coe of Stoney Fork; and five grandchildren, Joshua Grubb, Elizabeth Grubb, Amanda Saul, Paula "P.J." Wheeler, and Amber Coe.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home.
