MORGAN
Louis Earl Morgan, age 85, died Sunday, September 30, 2001. He was formerly of Raleigh, N.C. and a member of Monument Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Overman Morgan. Survivors include two sons, John E. Morgan and William L. "Bill" Morgan; one brother, Wesley Morgan; and five grandchildren, Kristy, Michael, Daniel, Timothy and Stephen Morgan. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Monument Heights Baptist Church. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite children's charity or to the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad. Proverbs 20:7 - "A righteous man who walks in his integrity - How blessed are his sons after him." The West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, is in charge of arrangements.

NEWCOMB
Ralph J. Newcomb of Richmond died September 27, 2001. Survived by his wife, Freda M. Newcomb; seven children, two grandchildren. Visitation 7 to 9 p.m. today, Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel. Graveside services 10 a.m. Thursday, Maury Cemetery.

OVERSTREET
Died suddenly October 1, 2001, Megan Danielle Overstreet, age 20 months, of Tappahannock. She is survived by her parents, Mark and Theresa; two sisters, Tiffany and Samantha; two brothers, Kevin and Derick; her grandmother, Margaret Taylor. Remains rest at the B.W. White Funeral Home, Aylett, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment in Bruington Baptist Church Cemetery.

RANDOLPH
Mrs. Phyllis J. Randolph is indeed celebrating her life with Jesus. She went home to be with her Lord on September 30, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, James "Jimmie" (Susie); six grandchildren, Darlene of Hampton, Va., Rhoda of Richmond, Jasper of Ocean Side, Calif., Ivan of North Hollywood, Calif., Timothy of Palmdale, Calif., and Jabora of Richmond; two sisters, Louise Dunn of New York and Constance Talley of Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, other relatives and many, many friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where the family will receive friends Wednesday, 7 to 8 p.m. Remains will lie in state Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. John United Holy Church, 1507 North 28th St. where funeral services will be held 12 noon. RASH
Mrs. Ruth Hendrickson Rash, 96, of Kenbridge, Va., widow of Ernest Lee Rash, died October 2, 2001. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Avery and Ann Rash of Kenbridge; three grandchildren, Betsy Sheffield of Victoria, Becky Swoap of South Hill and Lee Rash of Manassas; nine great-grandchildren, Anna Leavitt, Ford Sheffield, Katherine Sheffield, Vickie Swoap, Lindsey Swoap, Tamasin Swoap, Krystyn Rash, Lauren Rash and Allison Rash; five sisters, Mildred Lewis, Minnie Cook, Pearl McDaniel, Norma Hendrickson, all of Blackstone, Catherine Spencer and Etta Felts, both of Crewe. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, where funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 4, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Rash Family Cemetery, 2329 Jonesboro Rd., Kenbridge. Memorial donations may be made to the Kenbridge Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 328, Kenbridge, Va. 23944.

RICH
Harry F. Rich of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, September 28, 2001. Survived by his wife, Julia Rich. Graveside services will be held in Maryland on Friday, with military honors. Arrangements by K.L. Jordan Funeral Services. K L JORDAN

SHAFFER-HAGER
Sandra Shaffer-Hager, age 49, died October 1, 2001 after a commemorable battle with cancer. She is survived by four children, William and Samantha Alvis, Lisa Humphrey, Donald and Theresa Stewart, Charles Hager; and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Jacqueline Shaffer; and two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Shaffer and Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Shaffer. We will miss her dearly. SHEPPERSON
Irene Archer Shepperson, 51, departed this life September 30, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter. She is survived by six children, Marilyn Solis-Santillano, Irene Johnson, Alfred Brown, Rosetta (Robin), Curtis and Deaundra Shepperson; three sisters, Gwendy Smith, Thelma Shepperson and Susan Brown; four brothers, John Carr, Josh Jr., Major and Lawrence (June) Shepperson; nine grandchildren, Alphonso, Jonathan, Christian, Jodira, Chelsea, Christina, Marcus, Malir and Jhay-Lah; one brother-in-law, Frank Brown; one son-in-law, Mauricio Solis-Santillano; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends, among them one devoted, Michael (Mike, Mike) Hunt. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St., where funeral services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m. Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Preston L. Smith, age 79, of Lawrenceville, Va., died October 2, 2001. He was the widower of Madge Clary Smith and survived by a son, Stanley N. Smith of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren, Laura Ann Smith of Richmond, Meredith Ann Smith, and Preston Zachary Smith, both of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Virginius R. Smith of Lawrenceville and Arthur Smith of Oregon; and a sister, Elva Williamson of Chapel Hill, N.C. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va. The family will receive friends at the Stanley Smith residence Wednesday evening. Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SMITH
Pauline "Polly" Coates Smith, 77, of Richmond, Va., died September 5, 2001. She was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Coates. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Sara Vliet of Covington, La.; a stepson, Leland R. Smith of Norcross, Ga.; and two stepgrandchildren, Cassandra and Tyler Smith. She was the sister of Ross Coates of Rothesay New Brunswick, Canada; aunt to Steven Coates of East Riverside, New Brunswick, Canada and Linda Coates Merkle of Billings, Mont. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2001, at Black Mountain Presbyterian Church in Black Mountain, N.C.

TALLEY
Otis W. Talley Sr., 83, of Highland Springs, died Sunday, September 30, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Alma S. Talley; a daughter, Sharon T. Benson; son, Otis W. Talley Jr., both of Sandston; two sisters, Glennis T. Nelson of Richmond and Evelyn T. Marturano of Wisconsin; brother, Carlton B. Talley of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Talley was retired from Virginia Power. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your church or favorite charity.

TURNER
Robert James Turner, 83, of Goochland, Va., departed this life Sunday, September 30, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen; two sisters-in-law, 11 nephews, eight nieces; and a host of cousins and friends, two devoted, Earl Shelton and Fred Daniels. Remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, 1 p.m. at Fauquier Baptist Church, Goochland. Rev. Melvin Woodson, pastor, officiating. Interment Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery. Remains will rest in church one hour prior to funeral service. Relatives and friends attending services assemble at the church Thursday, 12:30 p.m.

WAREHIME
Luther H. "Dutch" Warehime, 84, of Hanover, Pa., died 12:50 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2001 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center. Born July 17, 1917 in Manchester, Md., he was the sone of the late Mark and Gertie (Fuhrman) Warehime. Dutch was the husband of the late Harriet (Rodgers) Warehime of Hanover for 55 years. Mr. Warehime was a graduate of Eichelberger High School Class of 1935. Dutch was an executive with Bell Telephone Company for 50 years in Richmond, Va. Among his many accomplishments, he was one of the first people to wire Williamsburg, Va. for telephone service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association. Mr. Warehime was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII. He was also an avid fisherman and duck pin bowler. Dutch is survived by three sisters, Romaine Appler of Gettysburg, Pa., Arlene Neiderer of Hanover, Pa. and Mary Miller of Waynesboro, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sterling Warehime. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001 at The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, Pa. Rev. William Speers officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, Pa. The Hanover Allied Veterans Council will provide full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to The Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, Pa., 17331.

Mr. Jake Robert Panther
November 26, 1911 - May 28, 2004
Mr. Jake Robert Panther, age 92 of South Hill died May 28, 2004. He was a retired farmer and is survived by his wife of 68 years Nellie Edmonds Panther, three daughters; Christine Hite and husband Julius of South Hill, Bettie Goode of Moseley and Myrtle Seay of Newport News; three sons Frank and wife Marie Panther of Altamont Springs, FL, Jimmie and wife Barbara of South Hill, Jake, Jr. and wife Cathy Panther of Chase City; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and six step grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Sunday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, South Hill. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Paul Hilton Davis
September 10, 1923 - March 19, 2004
Paul H. Davis, age 80 of Chase City, VA died March 19, 2004. He was a World War ll Army veteran, a Korean War Navy veteran, a retired real Estate Agent and retired Civil Service. He was the widower of Geraldine R. Davis and his survived by his wife Nancy H. Davis; two daughters Linda Tingle of Ferrum and Rebecca Craig of Chesapeake; two sons Paul H Davis, Jr. of Chesapeake and Reverend Gerald W. Davis of Petersburg; a sister Gladys Lewis of Rocky Mount, NC; a brother Montgomery Davis of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral service 3:00 P. M. Sunday at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, South Hill. Interment Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery near South Hill. Visitation Sunday beginning at 1:30 P. M. at the Funeral Home.
