HAMRICK
Esther Martha Ondrovich Hamrick, age 85, of Richmond, passed on to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 13, 2001. She was the widow of Darrell Forrest Hamrick and is survived by her daughter Karen Sue Hamrick; two sisters, Matylda O. Rhoades and Natalie O. Steele; brother-in-law, Paul Steele and sister-in-law Iva Ondrovich; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her remains rest at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001. Interment will follow in the Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Television Ministry fund at First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Ave., Richmond, Va. 23220.

JOHNSON
James Willie Johnson Sr., departed this life June 14, 2001. He was predeceased by his son, Norris. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, James Jr. and George Johnson; two daughters, Florence Johnson Smith and Sylvia Johnson; son-in-law, Dennis Smith; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; six brothers, Fred, Franklin, Thomas and McKinley, both of King William, George Johnson of Germany; sister, Sarah Neal; five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; the mother of his children, Annie Johnson Giles; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Chiles Funeral Home, 2100 Fairmount Ave., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., with Rev. Keith Manuel. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

LITTLE
Janet Miller Little, age 60, of Crewe, formerly of Amelia, died on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie; daughter, Rhonda L. Hodge of Crewe; and granddaughter, Megan; brothers, Al Miller of Fredericksburg, Willie Miller of Mechanicsville; sisters, Nancy Byrd of Amelia, Etta Blonsick of Washington, Margaret Weston of Florida. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia, with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. McCLAMMY
George E. McClammy, 80, of Richmond, went to be with his Lord Saturday, June 16, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Doris Hall McClammy; a daughter, Barbara Battaile and husband, Vic of Midlothian; one son, George Edward McClammy Jr. and wife, Susan of Los Altos, Calif.; grandchildren, Jonathan Battaile of Midlothian, and Sarah McClammy of Los Altos, Calif.; also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. McClammy retired as Assistant Comptroller from Southern States Co-op, after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a former member of Venable Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church for 35 years, again serving as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, on several committees and was the Outreach Director. He was Registrar for the Richmond Baptist Association for 40 years, a member of Northside Masonic Lodge #292, AF&AM, and Scottish Rite, Past President and Chaplain for the Shriners' Greeters Unit of the ACCA Temple. The family will receive friends 1 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where Masonic Memorial Rites will be conducted 7 p.m. Monday, and where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 7401 Woodman Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228-4314.

ROETHE
Dorothy Martin Roethe, 73, of Richmond, died Friday, June 15, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Harry E. Roethe Jr.; two daughters, Elaine R. Covington of Yorktown, and Jeanne R. Parrish of Mandeville, La.; son, Stephen M. Roethe of Richmond; and five grandchildren, Kenneth and Karen Covington, Andrew, Kevin and Sarah Parrish. Mrs. Roethe was the daughter of the late Willard C. and Margaret L. Martin and sister of the late Millicent M. Patterson. She was a graduate of Indiana State University where she served as President of Chi Omega in her senior year and remained active in alumni affairs. Mrs. Roethe was the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Indiana State University for three years. She was the Director of Publications for Associated General Contractors of Virginia in Richmond for 11 years. Mrs. Roethe had been an active member of Bon Air Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and later joined St. Giles Presbyterian Church. She had a life long interest in church music and drama. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, June 20 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church following private Entombment at Dale Memorial Park. THOMPSON
Eddie B. Thompson Jr. of 706 Bancroft Ave., departed this life Thursday, June 14, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth D. Thompson; two sons, Reginald (Harriet) and Roderick Thompson; stepdaughter, Bessie Smith (Tommy); five grandchildren; three sisters, Olivia Power (William) of Fort Washington, Md., Barbara J. Thompson of Richmond and Shirley Gardner (Earl) of Landover, Md.; an aunt, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

CARTER
Fannie West Carter, 89, of Martinsville, Va., died Wednesday, October 17, 2001. She was born on July 14, 1912 in Richmond to the late George West and Mary Venora Faulconer West. Mrs. Carter was retired from Henrico County Schools and was also previously employed by Smith Brothers Auto Repairs in Richmond. She was a member of Glen Allen Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Worth Harris Carter Sr., three sisters, and two brothers, she is survived by two sons, Worth Harris Carter Jr. and his wife, Katherine S. Carter and Ernest L. Carter and his wife, Margaret S. Carter, all of Martinsville, Va.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services Chapel, Martinsville, on Thursday, October 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 19 at 1 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park, Richmond. CARTER
Philip "Phil" Micheal Carter, 50, of Sandston, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Renee; his former wife, Oletia "Sissy" Carter; two brothers, Robert Carter and his wife, Rowena, and Donny Carter and his wife, Janice; two sisters, Margie Jimerson and her husband, Terry, and Kay Loving and her husband, Luther; two brothers-in-law, Billy and Harry Browning; three sisters-in-law, Judy Browning, Cheryl Gillen and Carolyn "Poodle" Altizer; 12 nieces and nephews. Mr. Carter was a U.S. Marine veteran. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, where a service of remembrance will be conducted at 7 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, monetary or food donations may be made to the McGuire VA Hospice.

CLAYTON
Baby girl Curisha Y. Clayton, three days old, departed this life October 14, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Rosalyn Booker; father, Curtis Clayton Sr.; two sisters, two brothers, two grandmothers, one grandfather, seven aunts, two uncles, four great-aunts, three great-uncles, a host of other relatives and friends. COOK
Earl L. Cook, 82, of Midlothian, Va., departed this life October 15, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine R. Cook; three children, one son, Rev. Linwood G. Cook of Smith Mountain Lake, Va.; and two daughters, Earline C. Snelson of Orlando, Fla. and Beverley C. Lacy of Richmond; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ethel C. Gormus of Deltaville, Va. and Annie Mae C. Schwartz of Richmond. Mr. Cook was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and a member of the 11th Armored Division. He was retired from Eubank Trucks, Inc. of Richmond. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow at Dale memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church's Building Fund or the Friends of Barnabas Foundation, P.O. Box 2194, Chesterfield, Va. 23832.

DICK
Gladys F. Downey Dick, born 1910, was peacefully gathered to God in her sleep Tuesday, October 16, 2001. She was the widow of William Dick and is survived by her son, John; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, 1503 Michaels Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.

EWART
Robert Woodson Ewart passed away Monday, October 15, 2001. He was a resident of Richmond, Va. He was 73. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Robert Woodson Gregory Ewart; daughter-in-law, Jihee; and three stepchildren. He retired from the Department of the Army as a graphic artist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Hollywood Cemetery.

GARBETT
Jean S. Garbett, age 80, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001 in St. Mary's Hospital. She was a native of Richmond, Va. and a member of River Road Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Julius S. Garbett; three children, Mrs. Pamela G. Osborne of Springfield, Va., Mr. S. Michaux Garbett of Henderson, N.C. and Mrs. Beth Ewing of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Mary S. Smith of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 113 Wilkinson Rd., Richmond, Va. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be sent to the American Red Cross or the Faith Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 6076-B Franconia Rd., Alexandria, Va. 22310.

GARRETT
George Nelson (Bootnie) Garrett Sr. departed this life October 14, 2001. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbert Garrett; and sister, Thelma Rodwell. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Lela Mae (Big Head) Garrett; one son, Rev. George Nelson Garrett Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. Casandra Cook (Haywood); stepson, James Scott; three brothers, Wilson Garrett, James Garrett (Shirley), and Alphonso Garrett; four sisters, Mrs. Sally Hurdle (Paul), Mrs. Geraldine Ribbon (George), Mrs. Wilnet Goode (Bennie), and Mrs. Patricia Long (Michael); four grandchildren, Karanja Garrett, Karyn and Haywood Cook Jr. and Dre'quan Patrick; one uncle, John Garrett; four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and a devoted church family. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 12 noon, Woodville Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Roland Chopfield Sr. officiating. GASKIN
Nelson W. Gaskin, age 71, formerly of Powhatan, departed this life in Richmond, Va. October 16, 2001. He was born February 17, 1930 in Goochland, Va. Preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Rose Gaskin, brother, Ronald C. Gaskin, and nephew, Garry J. Rudd. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Doris Rudd of Richmond and Martha Jasper of Amelia; brothers, Reginald Gaskin of Powhatan and Donald Gaskin of Hampton; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, several cousins; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Gaskin of Powhatan and Josephine Gaskin of Hampton; two brothers-in-law, McKinley (Jake) Jasper of Amelia and devoted Frank Rudd of Richmond; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19, 1 p.m., Virginia Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Amelia, Va. Rev. Wilbert Adams officiating. Relatives and friends assemble at the cemetery Friday, 12:45 p.m.

GREEN
Marvin C. Green, also known to many as "Porky Pig," age 69, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001. He was born in Mecklenburg County, the oldest child of Cortez J. and Annie Belle Gurley Green and graduated Chase City High School Class of 1949. Mr. Green began his career of 43 years with the Ford Motor Co. at Tucker Bevell Motor Co. in Chase City, Va. In January 1958, he and his family moved to Richmond where he accepted employment with Commonwealth Ford. Commonwealth Ford became Dick Strauss Ford, now Sheehy Ford. He was the founder of Central Virginia Pork Festival which is an annual event raising funds for the Shriner's Hospital. He was Past Master in 1987 of Manchester Lodge No. 14 A.F.&A.M.; Scottish Rite Bodies; Past Potentate in 1999 of ACCA Temple Shrine; a member of Cabiri of ACCA Temple, and Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 16 of Richmond. Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth F. Green; son, Barry F. Green and wife, Paige of Richmond; two daughters, Gale Winn and husband, Scott of Skipwith, Va. and Kim Wood of Richmond; six grandchildren, Dayna Winn and wife, Nancy Kaye of Atsugi, Japan, Jeremy Winn of Skipwith, Va., Jillian Leigh Green of Hampton, Va., Kelly Morgan Wood of Richmond, Matthew and Jonathan Harrell of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Rebeka Winn of Atsugi, Japan; three sisters, Ruby Wade and husband, Lennis of Danville, Va., Mary Cox of Lynchburg, Va., Carol Slaughter and husband, Junior of Nelson, Va.; brother, Buddy J. Green and wife, Shirley of Newport News, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Tollerson and husband, Talmadge of Boydton, Va. and Elizabeth Franklin of Chase City, Va.; brother-in-law, C.S. Fitz Jr. and wife, Virginia of Sandston, Va. He was an active member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church where most Sunday mornings he always greeted members and guests at the front door with his warm smile, sparkling eyes, and an extended hand of friendship. His family, which meant everything to him, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by the Manchester Lodge No. 14. A celebration of his life and a time of remembrance will be held at Westover Hills United Methodist Church, 1705 Westover Hills Blvd. on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. As per Mr. Green's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Shriner's Hospital, send c/o ACCA Temple, 9217 Bellevue Ave., Richmond, Va., 23227.
