Genevieve Venable Holladay, age 94, formerly of Farmville, died October 13, 2001 in Richmond. She is survived by her sister, Emilie Holladay of Farmville; one niece and one nephew, four great-nieces and two great-great-nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23 at the College Church Cemetery, Hampton-Sydney. Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

JENKINS
Vivian Harrison Jenkins, 92, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at her residence. A native of Brunswick Co., Va., she was a daughter of the late A. Scott and Fannie Short Harrison. She was the widow of Alvin W. Jenkins and was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by two sons, Alvin W. Jenkins Jr. of Chesapeake, Va. and Dennis E. Jenkins of Houston, Texas; a sister, Minnie Harrison Davis of Colonial Heights; a brother, Herman B. Harrison of Dinwiddie; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Dr. William L. Hales officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JOHNSON
Mrs. Virginia S. Johnson, formerly of Amherst, Va. departed this life Wednesday, October 17, 2001. She was the mother of Linda J. Drummond and Virginia J. Bennett (Meatloaf), both of Richmond. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where the family will receive friends Friday, October 19, 4 to 6 p.m. After which, remains will be forwarded to the Carl B. Baby girl Sierra Nicole Kinney, born April 28, 2001 to Jason A. and Linda L. (Tucker) Kinney, died October 14, 2001. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Road, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services 11 a.m. Friday at Dale Memorial Park.

LECKY
Dorothy Roberts Lecky, 86 of Richmond, died Wednesday, October 17, 2001. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Parke. She is survived by her devoted children, Sara Call, Robert, Don, and Stephen Lecky, and Susan Lecky Williams. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joseph H. Call Jr., Cathy Call Boykin, Rob, Lindsay, Jake, and Keillan Lecky, Mason and Stephen Lecky, Laura Lecky, Matthew, Johnathan and Sarah Williams. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Dorothy never met a stranger and she valued her many friendships. She was a founding member of the Blue Stocking Club. As a resident of Westminster Canterbury, she initiated the monthly Bible study for members of First Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was an avid and competitive bridge player. She taught all of us how to age with grace, dignity and a zest for life to its fullest. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 22. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Fund of Westminster Canterbury.

LEWIS
Elizabeth Macgill Randolph Lewis died Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at her home in Powhatan. Born in 1941 and raised on Greenmont Farm in Keene, Va., she was the daughter of the late Allen Killmon Randolph and Lelia Graham Hobson Randolph Bovard. Mrs. Lewis graduated from St. Anne's School in Charlottesville, and attended Sweet Briar College for two years before her marriage to John Latane Lewis III. A charter member of the Powhatan Junior Woman's Club, she was selected as Hostess of the National Tobacco Festival in 1967. She was an active member and past president of the Powhatan Woman's Club. She was the Christmas Mother of Powhatan County in 1994. She was also a charter member of the Powhatan Garden Club and served as its president in 1970 and 1976. She served as president of the Piedmont District of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and was chairman of its state convention. At the time of her death she was serving as Second Vice-President, Finance Committee Chairman, Flower Show Schools Chairman, and Scholarship Chairman of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs. Additionally she was a Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judge. In 1990, she was appointed to the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Board of Directors and served as its Vice-Chairman from 1996-1998. Mrs. Lewis and her family were devoted members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Powhatan County where she served as Sunday School Director, was a member of the altar guild and of the Episcopal Church Women. She and her husband, Jack, are two of the tri-chairmen of the campaign to establish a YMCA in Powhatan County. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Latane Lewis III; one son, John Latane Lewis IV and his wife, Audrey of Kennett Square, Pa.; and three daughters, Anne Harrison Lewis Harris and her husband, Chip of Newport News, Lelia Graham Lewis Webb and her husband, Randy of Portsmouth, and Elizabeth Lewis Allred and her husband, Jon of Davidson, N.C.; and nine grandchildren, Jack, Natalie and Harrison Lewis, Lauck, Will and Latane Harris, Macgill and Rice Webb and Chase Allred. She is also survived by one brother, Graham A. Randolph and his wife, Emily of Brooklandville, Md.; and two sisters, Carroll R. Barr and her husband, Mike of Powhatan and Bruce R. Murray and her husband, Jimmy of Keene. Elizabeth truly loved life and friends. She always spoke in superlatives, saying, "I saw the most, wonderful, the most beautiful and the most amazing things" every day of her life. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Church in Powhatan. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the YMCA of Greater Richmond for the Powhatan YMCA. LIGHTBOUND
Cheryl Lightbound of Calgary passed away suddenly as the result of a boating accident, October 8, 2001 in Belize. Cheryl was born in Calgary, August 22, 1963. She attended Lord Beaverbrook High School, Mount Royal College and the University of Victoria, where she earned a degree in computer science. Cheryl had been employed with Dominion Virginia Power in Richmond since November 1997. Cheryl was predeceased by her mother in 1999 and is survived by her father, George; sister, Cathy; and brother-in-law, Darren; brother, Doug in Hong Kong; uncle, Frank Lightbound of Lethbridge; her close friend, Ralf Siemens of Detroit; David and Marilyn Kirkham of Calgary and Peter and Terri Kirkham of Kingston, Ontario. Cheryl traveled the world to see and experience all that it had to offer, especially when it involved water and photography. Her last major trip spanned six months, 17 countries and four continents, seeing everything from the Pyramids, Victoria Falls, rafting down the Zambezi, going on safaris in Kenya, scuba diving with marine life in the South Pacific, Australia, tasting chocolate in Tasmania, and visiting her brother in Hong Kong. She then returned to Richmond to spend some time with her friends from work kayaking on the James River. Recently she went with her friend, Ralf to see Niagara Falls in her own country. While there, she quoted her motto for life "Don't wait to do what you want, because any day it could be over." MADDREA
Annie Roberts Maddrea, 92, of Richmond, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, October 17, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Maddrea Sr. She is survived by her son, George L. Maddrea Jr. and his wife, Betty of Yorktown; a brother, Jesse L. Roberts of Richmond; three sisters, Ruth R. Wigington of Burkeville, Louise R. Firesheets of Crewe and Christine R. Bond of East Islip, N.Y.; three grandchildren, B. Scott Maddrea of Richmond, Leigh Ann Carroll of Williamsburg and Jean R. Cusmano of Orlando, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Kelly Jordan Carroll and Justin Patrick Carroll. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and where funeral services will be held Saturday 12:30 p.m. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Weatherford Memorial Baptist Church, Elizabeth Evans Class, or the church building fund.

MAY
Floye Mae Bumgarner May "Mae May" of Chesterfield went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2001. Mrs. May was born in Hickory, N.C. on June 22, 1927. She was 74 years old. She is survived by her husband, David B. May; and beloved children, Joyce Crank, Judy Jones, Wayne May and Chris May; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jan May and Doug May. She and her husband David would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 29, 2001. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, where a funeral service will be held Friday, October 19 at 9:30 a.m. Interment Dale Memorial Park. Mrs. May was a member of Lyndale Baptist Church. She will be missed by many who loved her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen, Allen, Va. 23060.

MUNDEN
James Henry Munden Jr., age 81, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001. He was an active member of Monument Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mavis W. Munden; two daughters, Joyce Bateman and son-in-law, Butch Bateman, Marcia Minter and son-in-law, Artie Minter; four grandchildren, Margaret Broache, Bryan Bateman, Amy Minter and Lisa Adams; one great-grandchild, Evan Broache; three brothers, Vernon, Walter and Aubrey Munden; and two sisters, Elizabeth Rogerson and Effie Mae Stroupe. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2001 at Monument Heights Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

PICKARD
Frank Augustus Pickard died October 11, 2001. He was born in West Concord, Mass. on February 11, 1907 to Isaiah Lovell Pickard M.D. and Grace Peirce Pickard. He received his B.S. from Harvard College in 1929 and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1931. He married Carrie Neal Augustine, a native of Richmond, on December 11, 1943. Frank was a gifted athlete, starring in track during his high school years at Concord High. At Harvard he was a two-time All American in lacrosse and was given special recognition in football by Knute Rockne. After school he was a strong competitor in tennis and golf at The Country Club in Chestnut Hill and the Country Club of Virginia. Mr. Pickard served in the United States Navy during World War II initially as a Lt. Commander responsible for merchant ship security on two voyages to Suez. At the end of the war, he was Port Commander for Einewetok Atoll, preparing a base for the planned invasion of Japan. After the war he attained the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Following the war, the Pickards moved back to Richmond. Frank wrote to his college reunion classmates, "I believe I shall live longer in the pleasant atmosphere of this thriving community. The new frontiers are present here in the South. We seem to be closer to the fundamental joys of living without which life is rather sterile. You can see I like it here." Frank became an owner and president of Richmond's American Lace Leather Company until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Richmond Hundred, the Mayflower Society, Kiwanis, and was an active booster of St. Christopher's sports. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Pickard McCredie of Spartanburg, S.C.; his son, Frank Augustus Pickard Jr. of Denver, Colo.; and his grandchildren, Charlotte McCredie McElrath, Robert Pickard McCredie, William Augustus Pickard and Elizabeth Helen Craig Pickard. A graveside service will be held in Hollywood Cemetery on Saturday, October 20 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Carrie-Neal and Frank Pickard Celebration Fund at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or to the Pickard Memorial at St. Christopher's School, a fund supporting athletics in honor of Richard Kemper.

PITTS
Esther Whitman Pitts, 87, widow of Thomas Willis Pitts, passed away October 15, 2001. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Pitts Felton; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Felton. Mrs. Pitts was an active member of the Bon Air Baptist Church, where she sang in the Golden Notes Choir. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where family will receive friends 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 Wednesday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Bon Air Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Music Ministry of Bon Air Baptist Church.

POLSON
Dorothy Y. Polson, 64, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Leroy S. and Ruby P. Young and the widow of Charles Martin Polson and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory M. and Berkeley H. Polson and Jeffrey S. and Pamela L. Polson; son, Patrick B. Polson; three grandchildren, Katharine Alexandra, David Charles, and Sara Marie Polson; sister, Patricia Y. Bradford; brother and sister-in-law, Larry S. and Beverly H. Young; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Interment Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Polson was a longtime member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, and cherished the close relationship she established there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 227 South Cherry St., Richmond, Va. 23220.

PORTER
Willie Lowe Porter of Franklin died October 17, 2001 at her home. Survivors include her husband, Irvin Miles Porter; two sons, Max B. Porter and his wife, Barbette of Courtland, and Clay D. Porter and his wife, Tammy of Franklin; two sisters, and five grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
