DAMEREL
John Edward Damerel III, 70, of Richmond, passed away January 17, 2001 at Chippenham Hospital. Born in Hackensack, N.J., he was the son of the late John Edward Damerel Jr. and Kathryn Smith Damerel. He lived in Rutherford, N.J. and Williamsville, N.Y., before moving to Richmond in 1946. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948 and attended Princeton University from 1948 through 1951 where he was a member of the Elm Club and sang in the Glee Club. He graduated cum laude from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1963 with a B.S. degree, majoring in accounting. He was employed by Virginia Power, in Richmond and Alexandria, from 1954 through 1963. John retired from Coopers and Lybrand, formerly Leach, Calkins and Scott, in Richmond, where he worked as an auditor and later as a tax manager for 27 years. He served on the adjunct faculty of the University of Richmond from 1971 through 1973 and from 1974 through 1990 he taught courses in accounting and taxation at John Tyler Community College. John was also a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. John was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church where he sang in the Sanctuary and the Golden Notes Choirs. He also sang in the Richmond Symphony Chorus for a brief period. His interests were music and jogging. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Noel Damerel; two sons, Edward Franklin Damerel of Richmond and Steven Roy Damerel of Concord, Calif.; two sisters, Lois D. Rucker of Dallas, Texas and Emily D. King of Richmond; a brother, Gardner Perry (Tony) Damerel of Hillsville, Va.; three grandchildren, Jordan, Sophie, and Adam Damerel of Concord, Calif.; a maternal aunt, Velma S. Brice of Wilmington, Del. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m. at Bon Air Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Richmond at 4600 Cox Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060.

DAVIS
Departed this life January 18, 2001, Mr. William H. (Bill) Davis of Richmond. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St. Funeral notice later.

DeHART
Garvin L. DeHart, age 67, of Richmond, died January 14, 2001 at his home. He is survived by one brother, Lawrence W. DeHart of Cambridge, Mass. Memorial services will be held at the Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd., Mechanicsville, Va., at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 21. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or the American Diabetes. Foundation.

ELIASEK
James G. Eliasek Jr., 81, of Richmond, died Thursday, January 18, 2001, after a long illness. He was a native of Chicago, Ill., and is survived by his wife, Blanche Kastus Eliasek; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ann Carole Eliasek and Ron and Paula Eliasek; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Frank Kirby, Janet and Garland Toney, and Donna and Berni Steinbach; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His remains rest at Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Mr. Eliasek was a retired manufacturer's representative and was a founding member of the Richmond Country Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and a WWII veteran. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, 9505 Gayton Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229 or Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.

EVERETT
Robert Wesley Everett, age 68, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy G. Everett; his girls, Cycelia Nester, Pamela Harper, Robin Everett and Sandra Tuck; beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Chris, Patrick, Joseph, Crystal, Wesley; and soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Destiney; one brother and four sisters. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday nights 7 to 9 p.m. and where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2001, at K. L. Jordan Funeral Service, 5008 Nine Mile Rd. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. K L JORDAN

GLAZEBROOK
Martha Jennings Glazebrook, 99, of Richmond, died Friday, January 19, 2001. She was the widow of John Virgil Glazebrook Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Alice Glazebrook Gilleece, Anne Glazebrook Tompkins and her husband, Langhorne, all of Richmond; one son, John Virgil Glazebrook Jr. and his wife, Jane of Ashland; one sister, Marguerite Helbush of Aiken, S.C.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Glazebrook was a retired buyer for Thalhimers and a longtime member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church. Her remains rest at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 21. A memorial service will be conducted at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 2605 Dumbarton Rd., Monday, January 22, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Overbrook Presbyterian Church. Interment private.

GRAY
Jessie Rene (Huck) Gray of Manquin, Va., departed this life suddenly January 18, 2001 at her residence. Remains rest at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday at Rock Spring Baptist Church, Manquin, Va. Rev. Andrew J. Hughes Sr. officiating. Interment church cemetery. McCarthy, Director.

HARDY
Davis Eugene Hardy, 79, of Richmond, died January 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Edna A. Hardy; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Frankie Childress III; two sisters, Sarah Browning and Lois Holder; beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Ledford. Mr. Hardy was an Army veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment Maury Cemetery.

HARRIS
Harold Reed Harris, 66, of Chesterfield, died January 17, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Harris; daughter, Carrie Gronlund and her son, Eric; two sons, Kenneth R. Harris and his wife, Debra and their children, Jerry and Christopher, and Irving Harris and his wife, Tracey and their children, Alex and Brooke; two sisters, Agnes Elmore and Dot Hall; and brother, Welford Harris. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Manchester Rescue Squad.

HARRISON
Beatrice "Bea" L. Harrison, 89, of Powhatan, formerly of McDowell Co., W.Va., died January 18, 2001. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Linda S. and Terry Ross Sr. of Powhatan; a brother, Ray Boyd of Fayetteville, W.Va.; three sisters, Evelyn Martin of Spencer, Juanita Whitaker of Richmond and Maxine Heckert of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren, Terry Jr., April and Larry; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy., Powhatan, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment 12 noon Monday in the Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Va.

HITE
Field Mann Hite Sr., age 81, died Friday, January 19, 2001. Mr. Hite was a retired pharmacist and owned Hite's Drug Store in Goochland County. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1938, completed MCV School of Pharmacy in 1947, was a veteran of WWII serving in North Africa and Italy. Mr. Hite was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy; and three children, Field Mann Jr., Sara Hite Dawes and Robert Gregory Hite; five grandchildren, Adam Matthew Dawes, April Marie Hite, Robert Andrew Hite, Christopher Thomas Waggener and Anna Kate Waggener. Family will receive friends Sunday, January 21, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Monday, January 22, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or Goochland Rescue Squad, Company #5, 23063.

HOCKELMAN
Alan W. Hockelman, 58, of Mechanicsville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001. He was predeceased by his father and mother, James W. and Dorothy H. Hockelman; and a brother, Donald Ray Hockelman. Alan is survived by a daughter, LaDonna Smith of Virginia Beach; three sons, Charles Sowers of Richmond, Martin Sowers of Brazil, and Troy Hockelman of Mechanicsville; a sister, Linda H. Farmer of Charlottesville; and four grandchildren. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

ISCHER
Lether Murphy Ischer, age 97, of Richmond and formerly of Forest, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001. She was born February 13, 1903, a daughter of the late Robert Walter Murphy and Ada Hodges Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Christian Ischer. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and sang in the choir. She is survived by four daughters, Irene Nichols, Boca Raton, Fla., Lois Tibbs, Marlinton, W.Va., Marian Tibbs, Brookneal, Rachel Nash, Richmond; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, January 21, 2001, at 2 p.m. from the Lebanon United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Charles Schooler and Rev. Wayne Murphy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon today and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

JEWELL
Norman R. Jewell, 77, of Varina, died Thursday, January 18, 2001. He is survived by his brother and his wife, Charles W. and Mary Jewell of Yuma, Ariz.; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Jewell was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of Willis United Methodist Church. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 22 at Willis United Methodist Church. Interment Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Willis United Methodist Church.

JONES
Stevens Junius Jones entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 18, 2001, at Doctor's Community Hospital, Lanham, Md. For many years, Mr. Jones was extension agent for Dinwiddie County, Va. He is the last surviving child of the late Cora S. and Hunter Jones of South Hill, Va. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Lucy P. Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted daughter, Natalie L. Jones-Wallace; son-in-law, Wheilan Wallace II of Mitchellsville, Md.; sister-in-law, Alice V. LaSalle of Detroit, Mich.; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at J. Leroy Charity Funeral Home, Charles City. Services 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John Baptist Church, 8131 Roxbury Rd. (Route 106), Charles City, Va. Rev. Eddie L. Perry officiating. Interment church cemetery.

JORDAN
Virgil Hillman (Vee) Jordan, lieutenant colonel, USA retired, 80, died in Richmond Friday, January 19, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Cora-Semmes Curtis Jordan; his children, Cora-Semmes J. Bryce, Susan J. Stanton and her husband, Paul of Coral Gables, Fla., Virgil R. Jordan of Portland, Ore., Carol J. Norris and her husband, Steve, and Alexander R. (Sandy) Jordan; a sister, Elizabeth Hutson of Lovington, N.M.; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Susanne Sweeney, John Bryce and David Norris. Mr. Jordan was past president of Bon Air Rotary Club and past president of the Downtown Optimists Club, and a member of Willow Oaks Country Club. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Interment 2:30 p.m. in Warrenton Town Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn. 38101 or St. Bridget's Catholic Church.

KING
Ronnie Michael "Bugger Red" King, 47, of Matoaca, died January 19, 2001 at his residence. He is survived by his father and mother, Russell M. and Peggie Slater King of Matoaca; sisters, Rhonda Minson and husband, Kenneth of Matoaca, Donna Mitchell and husband, Mitch of Chesterfield and Linda Poulston and husband, Petie of Richmond; one brother, Russell Marcus King and wife, Brenda of Matoaca; five nephews and two nieces along with numerous aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with Dr. Ivan W. Perkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
