Dale Eugene Mongold
(January 15, 1957 - March 20, 2013)

Dale E. Mongold, 56, of Broadway, died March 20, 2013 at his home.

He was born January 15, 1957 in Shenandoah County, and was the son of the late Virgil C. and Lena Gay Mongold.

He had worked for Blauch Brothers, Inc., Tom Stroop, and Byrd & Fredrickson Packing Shed for many years.

Leaving behind his constant companion and caregiver for many years, Tonya Lewis; and a son, Austin Lee Mongold. Also surviving are five sisters, Virginia Sites, Cherry Spitzer, Juanita Mongold, Pamla Showalter, Kathy Ewing; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends that loved him.

At Dale’s request, his body will be cremated. The family will receive friends at his home Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M.

The family requests memorial contributions may be made to Grandle Funeral Home, P.O. Box 114, Broadway, VA 22815, to help with expenses.

Clyde Waldo McIlwee, Jr.

STAR TANNERY - Clyde Waldo McIlwee, Jr., 88, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at his home.

He was born on May 5, 1921, in Star Tannery, and was a son of the late Clyde David and Edna Mae Orndorff McIlwee.

Mr. Mcllwee retired from Avtex Fibers, Inc., Front Royal and was a member of Gravel Springs Lutheran Church. He was the husband of the late Minnie Virginia Fishel McIlwee.

He is survived by two daughters, Thelma Joan Vance of Strasburg and Betty Jean Bradby of Providence Forge; a son, Jerry E. McIlwee of Star Tannery; a brother, Forrest E. McIlwee of Star Tannery; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David W. McIlwee and two grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, March 31, at Gravel Springs Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lance Braun officiating. Burial was in Gravel Springs cemetery.

Lillian Yoder

Lillian Virginia Yoder, 89, of Harrisonburg, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Yoder was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Broadway, and was a daughter of the late Daniel Harvey and Ida Kline Moyers.

She was a member of Harrisonburg First Church of the Brethren and previously attended Westside Baptist in Harrisonburg. Her family was instrumental in the development of Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway, where she attended for many years.

Mrs. Yoder was a homemaker. She was active in her husband's ministry and was a certified nursing assistant. She helped raise her nephew, Jan Yoder.

On June 11, 1943, she married the Rev. Carl Edward Yoder, who preceded her in death May 29, 1993.

She is survived by two sons, Max Yoder of Reliance and Dr. Gene Yoder of Melrose; a brother, the Rev. Clarence Moyers of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Joyce C. Moyers of Harrisonburg and Martha Swick of Broadway; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Wyrick and the Rev. George Fletcher will conduct the funeral 3 p.m. Monday at Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Lena Marie Miller

MOUNT JACKSON - Lena Marie Miller, 85, died on Monday, March 29, 2010, at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home.

She was born on April 25, 1924, in Shenandoah County, and was a daughter of the late Mathias and Mamie Whitmer Spitler.

Mrs. Miller was a plant worker for Rockingham Poultry. She was a member of Mt. Herman United Methodist Church and former member of Mount Jackson Rescue Squad and Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Allison of Mount Jackson; a grandson; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Adam Miller and her daughter, Portia Nesselrodt.

A memorial service was conducted on Thursday, April 1, at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing by the Rev. Rodney Lebron, Chaplain Jeremy Sullivan. Burial was in Mt. Clifton Community cemetery.

Nicholas Wehrmann, Sr.

WILKESBORO, N.C. - Nicholas Wehrmann, Sr., 84, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on March 31, 1925, in The Hague, Netherlands. He served as president, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Ithaca Industries. He served on the Board of Directors of The Health Foundation. He was owner of Wehrmann-Angus in New Market, with cattle partner and farm manager, Richard McClung. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, became a US citizen as a result of that service.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Wehrmann; one daughter, Diane L. Fulton of Greensboro, N.C.; two sons, Nicholas J. Wehrmann of Wilkesboro, N.C. and Robert J. Wehrmann of Gastonia, N.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Rose Van Dam Wehrmann.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 27, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bob McCloskey and the Rev. Carl Elledge officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Warren Lynn Bock

MOUNT JACKSON - Warren Lynn Bock, 78, died on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born on March 26, 1931, in Silver Creek, N.Y., and was a son of the late William J. and Ethel Weir Bock.

Mr. Bock served as a corporal in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Mount Jackson United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Mount Jackson Masonic Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M., Silver Lodge in Silver Creek, N.Y., Blue Ridge Shrine, ACCA Temple and Jameswood SAR.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ethel Krieger Bock whom he married on July 2, 1955, his children and grandchildren, James W. Bock of Kensington, Md., Gregory Bock of Las Vegas, Nev., April Bock of Kensington, Md., Sharlene Vlahos and Kelly Gibbons both of Crofton, Md., Duke Gibbons of Colo., Kathleen Deily of Crofton, Md., Kristin Deily of Fort Collins, Colo., Alexander Deily of Westminster, Md.; three sisters, Barbara Hagan of Nevada, Calif., Marilyn Schmitt of Folsom, Calif., Judy Farrington of Tucson, Ariz.; four brothers, William Bock of Forest Ranch, Calif., Bradley Bock of McCormick, S.C., Brandt R. Bock of Chico, Calif., Gary Bock of Brocton, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Susan Bock.

A funeral service was conducted on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Mount Jackson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken DeWitt officiating. Burial was in the Mount Jackson cemetery.

Harry Frederick Edge, Jr.

MAURERTOWN - Harry Frederick Edge, Jr., 69, widower of Barbara Ann Barton Edge, died on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010.

He was born on July 26, 1941, in Marion County, W.Va., and was a son of the late Harry Frederick and Belva Alice Cochran Edge.

Mr. Edge was a member of the Toms Brook fire Dept. and Waterbrook Brethren Church. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with 18 years of service.

He is survived by four sons; Rick Edge and Robert Edge, both of Maurertown, Pat Edge of Toms Brook, and Jimmy Edge of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; a sister, Alice Marie Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Jim Edge of Oklahoma City, Okla., and David Edge of Neb.; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A funeral service was conducted on Monday, Feb. 22, at Waterbrook Brethren Church, Edinburg by the Rev. Freddie Helsley and the Rev. Jim Corbin. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Toms Brook Fire Dept. or Blue Ridge Hospice.

Hallie Frye

WOODSTOCK - Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Noon, at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Janet Esther Dyke Lambert

MAURERTOWN - Janet Esther Dyke Lambert, 91, died on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Consulate Healthcare of Woodstock.

She was born on June 29, 1918, in Strasburg, and was a daughter of Luther Edward and Annie Blanche Doll Dyke.

Mrs. Lambert was a member of Strasburg Christian Church. She worked assisting Dr. James M. Winkfield Sr. for many years and then worked for Beidler's Furniture for seventeen years as a sales clerk. She was a avid bridge player in years past.

She is survived by her children, Harry F. “Skeeter” Lambert, Jr. of Strasburg, Gary L. Lambert of Front Royal, and Mary L. Miller of Strasburg; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Harry Ford Lambert, Sr. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky; a sister Martha Lou Kibler, and a brother, Doll. D. Dyke.

A memorial service was conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Strasburg Christian Church with the Rev. Geneal Wilson officiating. Burial was private.

Betty Holliday See

STRASBURG - Betty Holliday See, 62, died on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at her home.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1947, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Scott and Ruth Porter Holliday.

Mrs. See was a housewife and a member of the Living Waters Christian Fellowship Church.

On June 16, 1983, she married Kenneth M. See on June 16, 1983 in Hagerstown, Md.

She is survived by a daughter, Yvette C. Trenary of Strasburg; two grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Kelly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Jean Spring of Cacapon, W.Va.; and a brother, Archie Holliday of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be at a later date with Minister Roy Riley officiating.

Illiane DeJesus-Torres

Illiane DeJesus-Torres, 27, of Harrisonburg, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 8, 1980, in Ponce Puerto Rico, and was the daughter of Edwin DeJesus and Migdalia Torres.

She was employed by Perdue and had lived in the area since 2002.

In April 2004, she married Hilix Rodriguez, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jan Luis Santiago and Ivanick Santiago; a daughter, Hilianex Rodriguez; and two brothers, Juan Carlos Torres and Edwin Torres.

The family will receive friends from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Following the visitation, her body will be transported to Puerto Rico for burial.

Raymond Shirley "Pinky" Sheetz

WOODSTOCK - Raymond Shirley “Pinky” Sheetz, 93, died on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Royal Haven in Woodstock.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1916, in Woodstock, and was a son of the late Harold P. and Jessie M. Keller Sheetz.

Mr. Sheetz retired in 1982 from Avtex in Front Royal and was a member of Woodstock Christian Church and Woodstock Moose Lodge #575. He was a lifelong resident of Shenandoah County. Until his illness several years ago, he was active through gardening and fishing. His special interest was fly-fishing for trout in the streams of the nearby Shenandoah National Park.

He is survived by a son, George H. Sheetz of Edinburg; a daughter Phyllis R. James of Woodstock; a grandson; a great grandson; and a great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rice Sheetz and a sister, Phyllis Sheetz.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m., at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock with Dr. Paul Pryor officiating. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, Va. 22601.

The family will receive friends at the Woodstock Moose Lodge following the service.
