Danny Lynn Bly

MANASSAS PARK - Danny Lynn Bly, 66, formerly of Strasburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Bly was born June 17, 1942, in Shenandoah County, son of Otis Taft and Lena Alice Ritenour Bly. He was an Army veteran and retired from Verizon Telephone Co. after 30 years. He was a member of Strasburg Moose Lodge 403 and Strasburg American Legion Post 77.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy Lee Bly; two sons, Mike Bly of Fla. and James Fries of Manassas; three daughters, Kristie Fries of Manassas, Dana Zernick and Julia Baum, both of Cambria, Pa.; a brother, Bobby Bly; six sisters, Jean, Carole, Barbara, Suzie, Bonita "Peachy" and Cathy; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted Friday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at Quantico National cemetery in Triangle.

Jerrel Madison Crockett Sr.

BOYCE - Jerrel Madison Crockett Sr., 59, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Crockett was born May 7, 1949, in Elliott County, Ky., son of Claude and Dessie Peach Crockett. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the manager of Callendar Farm. He was a member of the VFW in Berryville.

Surviving are a son, Jerrel Madison Crockett Jr. of Niles, Ohio; a daughter, Natasha Camille Crockett of Youngstown, Ohio; three sisters, Annabelle Crislip of Morgantown, W.Va., Pauline Mitts of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Yvonne Joan Crockett of Olive Hill, Ky.; four brothers, Roger Crockett of Wagener, S.C., John Crockett of Mount Jackson, Silas Crockett of Niles and Johnny Ray Crockett of Boyce; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 14, at Christ Church in Millwood by the Rev. Anne Manson. Burial was in Ohio.

Arrangements were handled by the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville.

Odie Louise Dellinger

STRASBURG - Odie Louise Dellinger, 90, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock.

Mrs. Dellinger as born July 29, 1918, in Frederick County, daughter of the late James Samuel and Attie Gertrude Newcome Shiley. She had been employed by Rocco in Edinburg. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Women of the Church and Extension Homemakers. She was wife of the late Herbert Wilson Dellinger.

Surviving are four sons, Granville Dellinger of Middletown, Edgar Dellinger of Strasburg, Glenn Dellinger of Woodstock and Larry Dellinger of Staunton; seven daughters, Rosie Rowe of Glen Aubrey, N.Y., Polly Moran of Little River, S.C., Loretta Kimble of Star Tannery, Imogene Ryman, Margaret Tucker, Brenda Pangle and Connie Dofermire, all of Strasburg; a sister, Frances Eagle of Brunswick, Md.; a brother, Royston Shiley of Edinburg; 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, Dec. 14, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church by Pastor James Baseler. Burial was in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.

Jerelene Joy Foltz

MOUNT JACKSON - Jerelene Joy Foltz, 77, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Foltz was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Shenandoah County, daughter of the late Casper Pearl and Clara Rupert Estep. She retired from Kennametal Inc. in New Market. She was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church. She was wife of the late Nathan "Jake" Samuel Foltz.

Surviving are a son, Nathan Scott Foltz of Mount Jackson; and a grandson.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Solomon Lutheran Church in Quicksburg by the Rev. Susan Lance. Burial was in the church cemetery.

James Phillip Harlow Sr.

MOUNT JACKSON - James Phillip Harlow Sr., 81, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Life Care Center of New Market.

Mr. Harlow was born March 1, 1927, in Albemarle County, son of the late Ellen Adkins. He was an Army veteran and a dynamite technician for a construction company. He attended St. Jacob Lutheran Church. He was husband of the late Ruby Irene Harlow.

Surviving are a daughter, Martha Harlow of Mount Jackson; five sons, James Harlow Jr. of Conicville, Billy Harlow of Basye, Brian Harlow of Warrenton, Mike Harlow of Woodstock and Tim Harlow; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Conicville by the Rev. Everett Burner and Pastors Katie Gosswein and John F. Taylor Jr. Burial will be in the United Church of Christ cemetery in Conicville.

Sons will serve as pallbearers.

Betty Louise Kreger Jones

WOODSTOCK - Betty Louise Kreger Jones, age 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock.

Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Liberty, Pa., the daughter of the late Flossie Repard and Fred J. Kreger. She was the wife of the late Otis C. Jones.

Surviving loved ones are children and their spouses Robert T. Jones of South Williamsport, Pa.; daughter-in-law Irmtraude Meinhert Jones; Kathryn Ann Jones Cooper and husband Timothy L. Cooper of Woodstock; Alan William Jones of New Market; five grandchildren; Thaddeaus Levi, Titus Luke and wife Megan W. Farrar Cooper; Timon Lynn, Thomas Lemuel Cooper all of Woodstock; one granddaughter Melissa Ann Jones of South Williamsport, Pa. She is survived by two sisters Dorothy Olson of Morris Run, Pa. and Mary and Edwin Isaccson of Blossburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by brothers Maynard, William, Ben, Lester, Walter, Jack, Donnie Kreger; and sisters Kathryn Beerwilder, Lucille Thomas.

Funeral service was held Saturday Dec.13, with the Rev. Thomas Harmic officiating. Interment followed at Salem-St. Paul cemetery, Liberty, Pa. Arrangements were under the direction of the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg, Pa.

Mildred May Manning

FRONT ROYAL - Mildred May Manning, 69, widow of David Manning, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008.

Mrs. Manning was born at Strasburg, on Jan. 24, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Clara Copp Ruby.

Mrs. Manning is survived by her daughter, Ellen Wetzel of Woodstock; three sisters, Kathleen Peacoe of Buckton, Dorothy Hanson of Stephens City, and Margaret Burke of Warrenton; a brother, Robert Copp of Winchester; a grandson, Cameron Wetzel.

A graveside service was held on Monday, Dec.15, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Harrisville.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Rintha Vena Lam M

ELKTON - Rintha Vena Lam Morris, 96, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Morris was born June 24, 1912, in Page County, and was the daughter of the late Burliegh Jackson and Gertrude Eveline Lam. She was a member of the Elkton Pentecostal Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and dancing.

Her husband, Harry Morris, preceded her in death on July 17, 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Dovel of Harrisonburg and Belva Higgs and husband, Dennis, of New Market; a brother, Obie Lam of Shenandoah; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Lam.

Pastor Travis Hensley conducted the funeral service Friday, Dec. 12, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial followed in the Elk Run cemetery.

Faith Evelyn Nielsen

GREEN RIVER, WYO. - Faith Evelyn Nielsen, 66, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Wyo.

Mrs. Nielsen was born Oct. 10, 1942, in Boston, Mass., daughter of the late Herman and Evelyn Ramsey. She was a graduate of Strasburg High School and King's Daughters School of Nursing in Martinsburg, W.Va., graduating with honors. She retired from nursing after 38 years, having worked in hospitals, doctors' offices, industrial nursing and as a school nurse in Green River for 20 years.

Surviving are her husband Roger Nielsen; two sons, Eric Nielsen of Green River and Brett Nielsen of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Peter Ramsey of Sacramento, Calif.; five sisters, Roberta Shifflett of Clear Brook, Virginia Lakey of Palmyra, Kelly Ramsey of Front Royal, Barbara Plauger of Woodstock and Jeannie Alford of Conway, S.C.; and a granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery in Green River.

Mary Catherine Painter

MAURERTOWN - Mary Catherine Painter, 93, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008.

Mrs. Painter was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Edinburg, daughter of the late Cleffer Eugene and Nettie Ruth Saum Hoover. She was wife of the late George Painter.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Painter of Louisville, Ky., and Kay Westermann of Roanoke; and three granddaughters.

The funeral was conducted Thursday, Dec. Dec. 11, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toms Brook by Pastor Patti Arthur. Burial was in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.

Ralph A. Partlow

BENTONVILLE - Ralph A. Partlow, 80, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Partlow was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Bentonville, son of Monsieur Lee "Doc" and Nellie Updike Partlow. He was a plasterer and worked for Avtex Fibers 35 years. He attended Browntown Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Hottle Partlow; three sons, Benny Partlow of Browntown, Lynwood Partlow of Woodstock and Glen Partlow of Front Royal; a sister, Nellie Partlow Williams of Limeton; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by Elders Jonathan Cook and Gary Utz. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Pallbearers will be Terry Berry, Freddie Partlowe, Keith Partlow, Ray Partlowe, Owen Partlow and Ronnie Frame.

Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Partlow, David Airhart, Richard Garber Jr., John Seal, Dennis Airhart, Elwood Williams and Sam Baggarly.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South River Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Samuel J. Baggarly, 1141 Elm St., Front Royal 22630.

Kenneth Leslie Koch

Kenneth Leslie Koch, 79, of Harrisonburg, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Koch was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Bedford, Ind., and was the son of the late Lawrence and Inez Tatem Koch.

He served in the U.S. Marines and continued his service in the Air Force before retiring in 1967 after 22 years of service. Following his military career he was an assistant manager of the Advance Store in downtown Harrisonburg and later was a school bus driver with the City of Harrisonburg. He was a member of the Bethlehem Church, Rion-Bowman VFW Post No. 632 and BPOE No. 450 in Harrisonburg.

On June 4, 1974, he married Evangeline 'Shorty' Virginia Koch, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert 'Bobby' H. Koch of Grottoes, R. E. Payne and Jimmy Payne, both of Winchester; a number of grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pastor Thomas A. Smith will conduct a private graveside service at Beaver Creek cemetery near Dayton. Friends may call at the home of the family at any time.
