Muriel Dietrich Hazelwood, 78, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord July 10, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Hazelwood. She was a member of Lyndale Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.

HENDRICKS
Edna Baker Hendricks, 77, of the Carolina House of Hilton Head, S.C., died on Wednesday, July 10, 2002. Born in Chaffee, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Jake and Effie Grace Baker. She was a member of the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church, and was a homemaker. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Fairchild and her husband, Lincoln of Arlington, Va., Pat Turner and her husband, Joel of Richmond, Va., Nancy Davis of Greenville, S.C., and Rebecca Hale and her husband, James of Bluffton, S.C.; a sister, Mary Rose Walsh of Fenton, Mo.; a brother, Ralph Baker of Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Lowcountry Presbyterian Church, 10 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, S.C. 29910. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, S.C. Private graveside service Sunday, July 14, 2002 in Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, N.W., Greenville, S.C.

Mrs. Annie W. Jackson of Richmond departed this life Sunday, July 7, 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Alice Cooper and Gladys Jackson; one son, Samuel Jackson Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-granchildren and great-great-grandchildren; five sisters; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law; two aunts; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 19th and Hull Sts., where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2002, 12 p.m. Bishop Milton J. Hunt officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends attending funeral services, assemble at the funeral home Saturday 11:30 a.m.

JACKSON
Departed this life July 9, 2002, Deacon John W. Jackson, of 1206 Brookland Parkway. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Carter Jackson; four daughters, Elizabeth C. Perkins, Yolanda B. Jackson, Selia A. Fillmore and Francine M. Jackson; seven grandchildren, Habib Beyah, Melodie Fillmore, Yetta Harris, Chielle Thompson, Jacqueline Davis, William Spencer and Christopher Spencer; ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Grace Jackson; one son-in-law, Morris A. Perkins; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Moore; one brother-in-law, Charlie Moore; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, among them, Irene Miller; a number of adopted daughters and sons; his church family and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street, where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until hour of funeral. Dr. Earl M. Brown (pastor) officiating. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you desire, donations may be made to the Fifth Baptist Church building fund.

JOHNSON
Vernon Hugo Johnson Sr., 52, of Providence Forge, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Chandra Allen Johnson; three children, Vernon Johnson Jr. of New Kent, Chandrese Fluellen (Mike) of Atlanta, Ga. and Jerel Johnson of Providence Forge; five grandchildren, Brittany Fluellen, Vershaun Johnson, Alexusia Bradby, SaQuan Bradby and Alan-Michael Fluellen; his parents, Thomas R. Johnson Sr. and Esther Cotman Johnson of Providence Forge; two brothers, Lorenzo "Ike" Johnson Sr. (Ann) and Cordell A. Johnson of Providence Forge; three sisters, Brenda Cotman of Richmond, Deborah Johnson Bradby (Bervick Jr.) of Charles City and Doreen Johnson Cephas of Chester; mother-in-law, Delois W. Allen; and father-in-law, Clyde H. Allen of Charles City; four sisters-in-law, Cheryl Jordan (Lawrence), Clydette Allen Dabney, Valenta Williams (Leonard) and Shereen Bradby-Ghee (Brian), all of Charles City; a devoted friend, Geraldine Jones of Charles City; a devoted cousin, Linwood Johnson of Charles City and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Remains rest at Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell, Va. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Little Elam Baptist Church, Charles City, Va. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

JONES
Departed this life July 9, 2002, Mrs. Vernell M. Jones of Glen Allen, Va. She is survived by her devoted husband, John W. Jones; one son, Willie L. Jones of Richmond; one daughter, Dorann Jones of Glen Allen; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Elsie M. Taylor of New York; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 North 25th St., where the family will receive friends Friday 7 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. Rev. Sylvester Smith officiating. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LEWIS
Sherry Renee Lewis, 21, entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2002. She was born August 9, 1980. She is survived by her mother, Betty Ann Lewis; and her father, Wayne E. Christian; as well as many other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002 at the Saint Luke Baptist Church, Plum Point. Rev. Joseph Garrett officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Viewing will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the J.K. Redmond Funeral Home. Ms. Lewis will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

LINDSEY
James Lindsey Sr., formerly of Willingboro, N.J., was born April 9, 1932 in Danville, Va. and departed this life July 7, 2002 in the University Hospital, Pa. He received his baccalaureate degree in American History from Virginia Union in 1954. He was employed as Manpower Specialist in Atlanta, Ga. and later was promoted to Regional Director of Equal Employment Opportunity in Philadelphia, Pa. where he worked until 1985. After his retirement from the Federal Government he worked in Philadelphia as Director of the Department of Aging and later as Director of Job Corps. He is survived by his wife, Laura Anderson; three sons, James Jr., Phillip, Jackson and Sean Darby; two daughters, Desiree Jackson and Lauren Lindsey; ten grandchildren; one brother, Frank Lindsey; two sisters, Arlene Lanier and Marguerite Barnes; and a host of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. from Poplar Mount Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, Va. with interment in the Powell Family Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va. Brown's Funeral Service, Lawrenceville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.

MAYS
Melissa Wade Mays, 65, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2002. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Wayne Mays; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Mays and Ricky Bernardini of Mechanicsville; two sons, Bryant Clark of Louisa and Barry Clark of Richmond; and four cherished grandchildren, Victoria Nicole Bernardini and David, Alexis and Cody Clark; brother and sister-in-law, Buford and Betty Wade of Mechanicsville; sister-in-law, Sarah Wade of Bumpass; a cousin and dear friend, Mildred Carwile. The family will receive friends at Bliley Funeral Home's Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today). A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 530 Main St, Suite 200, Richmond, Va. 23219 or the American Cancer Society (Research), 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Melissa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be loved and missed forever.

MONGER
Constance N. Monger, 72, of Greencastle, Pa., formerly of Richmond, died July 10, 2002 in Chambersburg, Pa. after a long illness. She was born Constance Leah Nance on October 4, 1929 in Campbell Co., Va., the daughter of Joseph C. Nance and Ada Toney Nance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lee Monger; and her eldest daughter, Linda M. Forsee. She is survived by two brothers, Robert S. Nance of Richmond and Joe C. Nance Jr. of Powhatan; two sons, Kenneth R. Monger of Pensacola, Fla. and Edwin D. Monger of Harrisonburg, Va.; two daughters, Terry L. Fink of Chambersburg, Pa. and Pamela G. Rickman of Richmond; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 15 at Bon Air Christian Church. Interment will be 3 p.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Lynchburg, Va. MONGER
Laura O. "Lou" Monger of Richmond died at home, July 11, 2002 following a brief illness. She was born March 19, 1949 in Nuremburg, Germany to the late Lucien P. Ordoyne and her mother, May Ordoyne of Ponchatoula, La. She graduated from Radford University in 1971 and has been a long-time dedicated educator who taught elementary school at Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Paul's Parochial Schools in the Richmond area. For the past 14 years, she taught kindergarten at Glen Allen Elementary School in Henrico County. She was a parishioner at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She was past president of the K Cettes, the auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus, and was currently serving as president of the Richmond Alumni Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She survived by her husband, Gary Monger; her son, Christopher Monger of Richmond; her brother, Philip Ordoyne of New Orleans, La.; her sisters, Susan McNamara of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Lisa Custer of Annapolis, Md. and multiple nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Bliley Funeral Home at 8510 Staples Mills Rd. from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2002. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2002. The family requests expressions of sympathy be directed to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond, P.O. Box 145, Richmond, Va. 23218.

OAKLEY
Floyd Earl Oakley, 94, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord July 10, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Martin Oakley. He is survived by his children, Norma Mills of Richmond, Anita Woodford of Louisa and Earl Oakley of Chesterfield; his brother, Allen R. Oakley of Chesterfield; and sister, Bernice M. Williams of Gainesville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 9600 Midlothian Tnpk., Richmond, Va. 23235. Interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church or the American Lung Association, 9221 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, Va. 23235.

PARHAM
Emma L. Parham, wife of the late James Roosevelt Parham, of Stoney Creek, Va., departed this life on July 9, 2002 at Greensville Memorial Hospital. She is survived by eight children, Willie of Ettrick, Va., Edgar (Merdice) and Raymond (Valerie) of Richmond, Va., Samuel (Beverly) and James Jr. (Audrey) of Petersburg, Va., Larry (Patricia) of Prince George, Va.; daughters, Barbara Williams (Lawrence) and Ethel Jackson; one brother, Edgar Parham (Rosa) of Waverly, Va.; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jarratt, Va., Saturday, July 13, 2002, 12 noon. Pearson Funeral Home of 556 Halifax St., Emporia, Va. are in charge of arrangements.

QUARLES
Mrs. Beatrice (Miss Bea) Brown Quarles, 95, of 707 Oak Park Ave., departed this life Tuesday, July 9, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Quarles; and is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, among them a devoted niece, Mrs. Geraldine Wimbish; and a devoted friend, Ms. Betty Blue. Her remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Saint John's Baptist Church, 4317 North Ave. Rev. Michael Felton officiating. Interment church cemetery.
